when I realised this could be speed ran I was messing about doing experiments with the chambers and I saw the chair and thought hmm that’s a speed run upgrade

I honestly kinda like cycles in speed runs if they can be broken in some way, It creates a wall that says that there is a limit to how fast anyone can go, and then it gets broken in so many different ways.

How many of you know that the sign above the last door (the last one that opens, not the one that breaks) isn't actually affected by lighting?

I love how speedrunners will see something like "wait a second, there's a metal can here" and find a way to use it to shave off seconds of time to beat a level no matter how precise the line-up is

Listen, I know this will be hard to believe, I just played portal 2 for the first time yesterday. When I got to the section I didnt know what to do while "waiting" on wheatly, so i shot portals thru the crack in the door, then noticed it had no collision and shot randomly while "waiting" when a portal hit the moving panel. when I walked over to see what was up I noticed the moving panels and figured out the whole needing to use the laser. I love speedrunning (i dont partake as much tho) but would have NEVER thought to say anything.

I have to say, it's just so delightfully human that people were speedrunning this chamber for nine years and never gave that chair a second glance. Everybody was so busy trying to improve the existing strategy that nobody thought to look outside the box for new strategies. A good metaphor for life, maybe?

I have never done any speed running, but it never ceases to amaze me the number of people who think they can predict the best possible time.

But how conceited do you have to be to claim you're movement was perfect? Especially so early in the game's lifespan.
