AMD needs more VRAM because they tend to use more VRAM

Just finished buying and researching all the parts for my newest build and i think most people would agree they dont hold alot of value in ray tracing. Amd’s price to performance usually beats it ls team green counter part and as someone who doesnt really care for ray tracing i went for a 7900xt over a 4070ti/4080 for similar performance i am saving more money as I probably wont ever use ray tracing BUT even if i did want to the card is still capable of providing a very playable experience. I think amd is overall better rn compared to nvidia

Not maybe for people but for the parents or the household or the house finance, and then it is the less expensive for the same result...AMD!

Even if 4080 is expensive as heck, its still an amazing gpu and you're paying for what you bought but a little exaggerated

One thing you should mention explicitly for Linux users is that amd graphics drivers such as radeon and amdgpu are open source, Nvidia requires propriatery drivers. Yes you can use Nouveau drivers with nvidia but you will get shit performance on nvidia. And that is a huge reason why I stick with AMD as they are lot more opened.

I recently upgraded my RTX 2080 Ti with a RTX 4090 liquid cooled and I have zero regrets...the jump in performance is amazing. I didn't consider AMD when I was getting ready to upgrade due to my monitor being G-sync Ultimate certified. That's not to say I have anything against Radeon cards...I just always go for the fastest card available when I upgrade.

The last Radeon I owned was an ATI. I do miss the days when the Radeon cards and Geforce cards would keep on upping each other every other generation.

I have a 3080 for 4k. I am very happy with it, but the v-ram just lacks. Games are starting to have a problem with it, so I just bought a 7900xtx for future proofing. I do not care for rtx and I do not mind fsr. I think i'll be quite aight

Anyone here to really want to choose which to buy .. m gonna make it simple for you
1-If you are 100% into content creation, then go with Nvidia
2- if you are 100% into gaming then AMD will be best
3- if you will do 50-50 thn Nvidia
4- if gaming 70% and Content Creation 30 thn AMD

I've had a 1080 since release and decided to try out amd.... alot of the settings i relied on from nvida are just gone and i struggle to get replicate them with the amd software, i still don't seem to be able to get the performace i should be seeing out of my new amd card. I will be using it untill the 5000 series is out unless i get used to the amd software and amd release a card that gose toe to toe with the nvida flagship usally at a lower price. Time will tell, but so far a bit dissapointed by my amd experiance...

A shame you didn't take VR into account too. The AMD 7000 series cards seem to struggle with it right now. So, if VR is your thing, it's worth considering when you're looking at buying a new GPU, I think.

Got an RX 7900XTX from 6900XT, and didn't believe the poor VR performance issues.... Card got returned after trying latest 3 drivers from AMD. No go in VR still as of July/August 2023. Sticking with 6900XT, for now, as it absolutely slayed its successor the 7900XTX IN VR, for now. Standard performance was pretty wicked, but I literally wanted a better card for two VR games. No go.

I'm really happy with my 7900 XTX ... it may be a bit overkill as i only have a 1440p 144Hz Monitor ;). That said ... for that raytracing performance is plenty enough.

The pc I'm watching this on has a gtx 970. I bought a 7900 XT and am going to build a PC this week for myself. I think the performace increase will be something like 800% or more and that's on 1440p. I'm now using 1080p. This pc has served me for 10 years no problem and I'm giving it away to someone I know who is crazy about minecraft. This pc runs even heavily modded minecraft well till this day.

You Completely Ignore the Biggest Issue.
Which is the Price for for Performance.
Its nice that NVIDIA gives me extra Features to make Fake Frames to make the game look Smoother. But if AMD for the same Price Simply Offers more Raw Performance and thus Simply offers more Real Frames. Then Sorry. But NVIDIA can stick its DLSS where the Sun doesnt Shine.

I mean no Offense. But Seriously.
Why should anyone get a 4080 for 200 Dollars more than a RX7900XTX when it can only give You higher Performance by Inserting Fake Frames in between ???
You are basicly Just Paying for Fake Frames which on top only actually give You a Good Experience if Your Framerate is already Higher than Necessary anyways.
Which is the biggest Joke here. Because if this would allow Lower Cards to Increase the FPS to a Playable Rate on Demanding Games I might even consider this a Plus.
Because having a Game Run on 40 FPS instead of 20 FPS is much more Playable even if there is a bit more Latency in it.
But thats not even the Case. If You dont get 60 FPS already then using this works Terrible.

And while that Competetive Gamer would rather like 120 FPS than 80 FPS but if his Latency Suffers as a Result thats not gonna Fly.
And if a Cheaper Card can give him 100 FPS but without increasing Latency then take a Guess which one he Takes.

You also use DLSS on all the Benchmarks which basicly means that all of that Data assumes the Gamer is Willing to take the Latency Issue.
Yeah not happening.

So Yeah no Thanks.
AMD Wins Hands Down for Literally everything here.

Yah, my 2080ti has 11gb... how are new cards running 6 and 8? That's just short-sighted and stupid. I'd want at least 16 going for a new card.

wasnt VRAM a big deal why hogwarts legacy struggled hard on nVIDIA GPU's?

big problem with low VRAM is that new consoles come with AMD cards with tons of the stuff, and games are first designed for consoles and the memory issues are visible already and will continue to deepen after a while

I've owned (recently) an NVIDIA 3080ti and an OC 4080. Few days ago, I purchased an AMD Power Color HELLHOUND 7900XTX (24gb) for just over $900 US. In the few days I've played it, it SEEMS to run smoother, cooler, (yes, the fan curve is loud, it doesn't bother me at all), no stuttering during gameplay, and no strange artifacts. It's just about right on par as far as frames go with the 4080. NOT worth spending 2-500 more on an OC 4080 at this point. Team RED for now and possibly long term.
