I just run everything real-time priority on a 13900KS. Ultimate Performance with core-parking fully enabled. I just play games, and although the PC is not useable during benchmarks like R23 or Passmark, once they complete, the scores increase significantly and everyday use like gaming has the absolute lowest delta for processing. Running everything real-time priority on a computer whose 32 threads are rarely saturated is just fine and almost 100% harmless, for a noticeable improvement in performance that I'd say is even better than what a hefty overclock would grant on its own. I run my 13900KS stock save for Re-BAR and XMP in BIOS. I use Process Lasso for the priorities, CPU sets, and CPU affinities. I didn't touch the actual Windows Scheduler at all.
ОтветитьFound this very helpful. Thank you :)
ОтветитьThank you very much
The professor ask me to present a siminar about advanced architecture by using one of parallelsim technique and show him the speedup with certain design, please help me to find like idea , not exceed one page only, because my presentation not exceed 15 minutes
Found it interesting that when the first multi-cores showed up in the mid 2000s, five years later most PC technology magazines claimed no software developers--even leading edge gaming software--had taken advantage of it. So, mainstream apps like Microsoft Office benefited nothing. Typical.
ОтветитьThis video really helped me to realize and save a bunch of cash knowing that my 2700k ($336) processor at the time was efficient enough 4 cores and 8 threads to my upgrade to the 13700k ($375)(8P+8E)24 Threads was MORE than enough upgrade and I was able to finally ditch HDD as whole except for backup only these M2 SSD and 32Gb of DDR5 ram working all together makes my system just hum along having a few small to know impact programs running at boot NO PROBLEM 18 sec from power on to Desktop and I'm on Windows 11 my 2700k only supported TPM 1.2 henceforth the major upgrade at least to take advantage for the next 1 or 2 Windows versions. Windows 12 right around the corner now. 12 years out of my old processor ain't to shabby
ОтветитьNice Information.
Thanks bro 👍👍👍
I have a theory that your hairdo results from the fact that your hair is actually an elaborate series of circuits that link up different parts of your brain.
ОтветитьI have literally become your latest fan, your videos are the best. I have watched about 5 today that clarified information which I have been trying to get my head around for months. I wish I had found your videos when I was studying for the A+ exam. Thank you for your well-thought-out clear explanations.
ОтветитьI wanna buy HP Victus core i5 with 4gb graphic dedicate, 8 ram, 512 ssd. Does it slow down in multitasking and video editing?
ОтветитьI don't know about you all and you Mr. Ben G. but the minute that I turn on my PC I have hundreds of things running in the background automatically without me even telling it to. Even with one core working on one thing don't forget about all the other hundreds of things running in the background automatically. I'm still shocked to even hear that a dual core still exists lol. Android OS on phones and tablets is even worse! All kinds of apps working and updating in the background even if sitting there looking a picture only lol. Now tablets and phones are coming with 8 cores.....almost like a mobile Xbox in your pocket....pretty cool!
ОтветитьPhenomenal thank you so much. How do you find the thread count on spec sheets for desktops? Is there another term for threads?
Ответить:>
ОтветитьHi Ben. Thanks! You are doing a great job! Me want the CRAZINESS though @7.0ghz LOL
ОтветитьSo glad I found your channel. Thank you for sharring your knowledge.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьThanks so much Ben
Ответить:) Great video. People REALLY need to know this info.
Ответитьso lets say i just wanted the absolute best cpu for a SINGLE opened application, what would i choose?
Ответитьwhen you said "more power" ie for using photoshop what do you mean by that
Ответитьvery helpful, thank you!!
ОтветитьI sent my rig to the shop cause i was having problems with it, I'm not the most tech savy in terms of PC tinkering but i do know quite a bit. It's 3am and I'm youtubing/googling possible replacement parts for my rig, looking at the specifications of some parts i was like "huh, I don't even know what half of these means". So now here i am, a little knowledgeable, knowing all these different terminologies and their purpose. Thanks for explaining it in such a way that's easy to understand by breaking them into pieces. Going from the top all the way to the bottom. Subbed!
ОтветитьIf I want to run just 1 application, single core speed is better. multiple cores are for multi-tasking
ОтветитьHey, I quite liked what you said, but I failed to find what I'm looking for here, which is, how much cores is enough and which processor for someone who's using BIM software's and Adobe CC and a couple of powerful rendering engines such as Unreal Engine ? If any one has an answer for me here, let me know. thank you.
ОтветитьThank you for explaining this in a way that a non-tech savvy would understand well. :D
ОтветитьVery well explained!! Thanks a ton
ОтветитьA small question which i hope you can clarify.....so if im only going to work on Vegas Pro 4K video editing and maybe photoshop side by side (I never ever multi task more than that), Then do i really need a Ryzen 9 or can i make do with a Ryzen 7 5700g ?
ОтветитьThis was SO helpful! Thank you!
ОтветитьGreat video! It was very informative and you used great examples to simplify your explanations.
ОтветитьGreat video Ben, now I know what to look out for!
Ответитьi'm struggling to figure out how to get it to run at one speed on all cores at all times
ОтветитьI7 1260p has better single core performance but ryzen 7 5800h has better multicore performance. What does it mean? Which is better for 4k video editing?
ОтветитьAndrew Garfield have a great processor knowledge too!! 😂😂😂
ОтветитьBen- your explanations of CPU ,cores, threads, are brilliant! I’m sold and subscribed your channel. I have one question- In term of speed, should base clock speed to be considered or the turbo speed value ? As I understand ,base would be the better unit as turbo will throttle back and eventually slow down. Is this right?
2. 12 cores 16 threads processor @ 3.4 ghz - turbo max 4.7 ghz, what does it mean? Total speed of the 12/16 processor base speed is 3.4ghz? Or each core has base speed of 3.4ghz ( total 40.8 ghz which seems wired) :). Thanks
thank you buddy
ОтветитьThis was so helpful and easy to understand, thank you!
ОтветитьI thought your point about the specific application software needs to be written to accommodate multi- threading was important. Old apps less multi threading, newer apps more multi-threading. When did Windows become multi-threaded?
ОтветитьGreat video full of knowledge by simple example.
Bro your my favorite 😂
Man that has to be the most ju face on jutube... lol
ОтветитьTech tips should learn from you
ОтветитьLooking to build my own PC and found your channel. It's so great that you're explaining this stuff in an easy to understand way, a lot of other tech channels like to assume that we all already know this stuff so about half of what they said was gibberish to me. Thanks for the great breakdown videos!
ОтветитьGreat video. I will forward to my grandson.
Ответитьi am sorry but this video did not help much at all. Yes more cores for multitasking, but why would more cores be needed for 4k over 1080p when according to the impression you give, they both only use 1 core for the editing..... the other cores are for multi tasking like spotify. Ok if you are editing, listening to music, chit chatting on facebook, and running a virus scan .... then your advice works. But who in their right mind would do that while editing??
What you failed to explain is "when do specific softwares(eg premiere/photoshop) use more than 1 core/thread if available?" This is not multi tasking but parallel processing. Not all software does this. In gimp for example, only some of the processes multi core/thread. Some filters dont, some do. Rendering does. The software effectively splits the image into a number of sections and each core plus thread is assigned to render that section. You also may have to set up your software to do this. So what was needed was info on which specific pieces of software can do parallel processing using multi core/threads. If your software doesnt do that, or you have not set it up to do that, then multi cores/threads will only make a difference if you are multi tasking on other software while simultaneously editing.
so each applicatin takes up each core? what if you have 6 applications opened and only 4 cores?
ОтветитьThank you so much for preparing this video for us Non-Techie types. I am buying a new computer and to be honest with you, my brain was going to explore trying to understand all the different options available from Dell, HP, etc. You have done an outstanding job in simplifying this jargon!
ОтветитьHighly phenomenal and informatively concise video. Thank you!
Ответитьthank you so much :3 . This is very helpful
ОтветитьThank you for the explanation!
ОтветитьIs it enough to have Ryzen 5 3600 with Gtx 1650 Super for 4K Sony S-Log editing??
Ответитьis 4 cores 8 threads ok for 3d modeling and cloth simulations?
Ответить
