right on Bishop Bolo literally was puzzled this morning trying to get a bass to sit in with a kick & 808... I ended up reverse polarizing the kick and eq'd the bass off at 65 hz to leave bottom for the kick & 808

That's what I'm tryna learn, When to use an 808 or Synth Bass.

That’s really the bottom line. Sound selections. Knowing which 808 fits in the song. Parralell compression can help warm up the 808 as well. But of course that is using a plugin

My method is not using the 808, that thing is overused.

The other day I took one 808, made four copies, tuned each one to the note I wanted and put them on the pads in a row 😂 it's a lil tedious but I did it so I could play the drums and sample on same program for finger drumming.

When it comes to 808 tuning, are we pretty safe with Logics Q Sampler "Optimized"?

My goodness., I have not figure out the sound of 808s. Sometimes it throws my beat off or it just doesn't fit. I make it fit. lol. I need more practice on mixing. Gee.

A good transient shaper will make your 808 knock a little bit of saturation in the mid-range we'll make it knock

Evey now and then some 808s (or kicks) can be out of phase you can try to invert the phase on them and see if it helps.

Do you Have any idea why I can get my 808 sounding good and hitting right on headphones and monitors, but when I listen In my car it sounds distorted and muddy? But than if I lower the 808 volume to fix than it doesn’t hit on headphones??? This is hindering me

I usually EQ an 808 to fit into the track. If I really like one but it needs a certain range to standout….I cut the offending frequency and boost the one I need. I also have trouble hearing the tune of 808’s….so I make sure to use speakers to hear them and use a tuner to make sure they aren’t slightly detuned………..Or I tune my 808 up an octave or two….so that I can hear it in context with the song and then correct the pitch from there.

I bake my 808s directly in Serum's harmonics view.

I would use the EQ first then turn it up

why use cheap studio monitors for high end studio gear it makes no sense
if you have the money to buy expensive gear why cheap out on studio monitors please explain ?
