This is the coolest and most adorable thing ever 👍🏾👍🏾🌸
ОтветитьI had Austrees. I could cut any size stick and it would grow. Put in bucket or in the ground. That size that you have would have done just fine directly planted. Lots of water the first year. You shouldn't have put wood chips in the hole, just dirt. Water well daily, all year. Will grow like a weed.
ОтветитьBe very careful with where you plant willows. They are heavy, heavy drinkers, and if they can't find a nearby natural water source, they will send their roots into drain and sewer pipes, clogging the sewers in your neighborhood.
ОтветитьThe roots look amazing!! I hope it transitions well on the ground. 🌳
And damn Ripley looking buff. Lol

ОтветитьSo cool!
ОтветитьIts not a good idea to plant a willow tree in your back yard because the roots will break your water pipes
ОтветитьI have had good luck with cutting, by following your advise. I have moved the cuttings, that rooted well, to 1 gal containers. At what point do I move them to a bigger container or to the yard? I live in zone 3, so I'm worried about transplanting in the summer or fall.
ОтветитьAre these willows, or weeping willows?
Ответитьwhat species of willow is it?
Ответитьwhere do you live in?
Ответитьwillows do naturally reproduces by dropping their branches in to water and letting them root.
Ответить:How big of a cutting did you plant?
:Yes
Since it's so big and the roots are still quite short, how do you get it to not fall over?
ОтветитьA chunk of one of our trees feel off and I tossed it in some water today. Not sure what else to do 😂😂
ОтветитьI grow all types of trees as a hobby, from cuttings and seed..stuff from all over the world and it's pretty interesting seeing what tree can handle what or how fast they can root or grow. Willows are probably the best there is when it comes to putting on roots, then hybrid poplar, red mulberry, figs. That's what I've experienced. Red Mulberry trees in my experiences are absolute beasts though, fast growing and hardy. I'm also surprised with how much hardier the coast redwoods I grew are than the dawn redwoods. I'm also surprised with how non-hardy all the murray cypress trees I've had are, along with eastern white pines...very tempermental (then again I live in TX where there's heat domes and every damn storm system you can think of. The hardest tree for me to grow has been the giant sequoia. Absolutely impossible for me.. At the moment I'm really liking my Aleppo pines and western white pines..but the aleppos seem to handle the heat like no other. But of course nothing beats the old tried and true eastern red cedar. They might be the all around strongest tree. Anyway, my two cents.
ОтветитьThere is a guy who did a bigger one before you. I am trying the biggest one that I have literally ever seen any one try. It was a lot of work with the posthole digger.
I am doing that "jam it deeeeep in the ground in a swampy, wet area" method. Did it just like 4 days ago. It is as thick as a dinner plate is round. Medium dinner plate for a 6'2" obese or muscular man.
I can't wait to try this, I just ordered willow cuttings! I love seeing your kids help you in your videos, they are precious.
ОтветитьYou have the best assistant! 💚
ОтветитьI'm going to try this with some huge poplar cuttings. 😺🌿🌿🌿
ОтветитьHow tree?
ОтветитьWhere's the update video 😂 I need to see
ОтветитьAren't you afraid of the roots damaging your water or septic lines?
ОтветитьMy dumbass neighbor cut down a beautiful willow tree...I went & cut a bunch of branches of various sizes & stuck them in buckets of water. I wasn't sure if some of them were to big... after watching this video I think not? Should I trim some of the twigs off? is that gonna help it grow? The cuttings were from high up on a large tree so they have long branches that are already budding & developing small leaves... I wasn't sure if cutting those branches would help the cutting put more energy into growing roots or if those smaller branches/twigs can stay on...
ОтветитьThe only real problem from cuttings off a willow is, willow only live about 25 to 30 years. If you take a cutting from an older tree, you won't have a long lifespan on your clone.
ОтветитьQuestion. Is it still alive?
ОтветитьWould love to see what it looks like now.
