What abt turning b&w movies to 4k color

I used several AI 4k enhancers on home movies from the late 80s, using every advanced option to make it look as best as possible- taking days to do each short video- and the end result has been the same every time: no changes in video quality. This is unacceptable. I paid a lot of money for these softwares that don't work.

Why would you want such a software? VHS is godly. HD and 4K are disgusting.

If it's archival footage, just wait a few years and there will be much better products for less.

The video tests out the Topaz Video Enhance AI software to see if it can improve the quality of old SD footage by upscaling it to HD and 4K.

- Test 1 takes SD footage from a 1993 camcorder and upscales it to HD. It improves details and removes compression artifacts but doesn't look fully native HD.

- Test 2 takes 720p footage and upscales it to 4K. It applies sharpening and seems to add more detail, especially to hair.

- However, it is expensive at $299. For documentaries it could be worth it, but individuals may not want to pay that much.

- Color grading is also important for remastering old footage. The video recommends other videos and software for color grading.

If you are talking about low quality VHS cameras from the 80s and 90s. Then no. Ai cannot make them look like your video.

I have digitised 48 year old 8mm and super 8mm film of course I am interested in cleaning up the results from what is otherwise crappy looking film

Any object can look as good as the closest focused view available at the same or close enough angle. If the AI can take from higher quality views external to the video source, it can enhance it quite a lot.

I convert a lot of VHS and DVD's to digital HD. What I am curious about..is it best to step from low res to middle to high..or is it better just to go from low to high? I also do make a lot of 360 degree videos, and I am curious to see if Topaz can make them look better. A lot of times, the video is sold as 4K..but it still looks soft and full of artifacts.

I have about 30 tapes of family videos that I'm going to convert to digital from vhs-c, this is looking like a must buy for me

I want to enhance an old poor quality video (360 x 480) using AI. I guess HD720p will be enough, HD1080p would be great.
What is the workflow for such videos? Where can I find it? Does the process require some preprocessing in other programs?

I shot a short film that (due to a last minute problem) had to record on my Samsung phone. The picture quality is absolutely abysmal but I'm otherwise very proud of it. Do you think in the next 10 years or so, A.I will be able to enhance the picture quality to mainstream film quality?

Probably a daft question from a novice whose interest is about 5 minutes and 17 seconds long, could you run a 2nd pass? Take and SD video upscale to HD then pass the resultant HD thru a 2nd pass to get 4K or, as I suspect, would it be a photocopy of a photocopy effect where there would be too much picture degradation to do it effectively?

It would be helpful to know HOW LONG it took to do the conversion. If I have 1 hour of SD VHS raw footage to convert to HD, is that going to take ah hour or 12 or 100 hours?

Random question here. I was involved in a hit and run on my motorcycle. Obtained a video from the corner store that shoes the incident. The license plate is too blurry to see actually numbers. Any chance this could clean up footage to show plate numbers, or probably not possible? Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm willing to share video, pretty crazy to watch. Thanks in advance.

I have old VHS videos from 1989 or 1990 from when I was in the Navy. I would love to be about to upgrade these videos in both quality and color depth. But this is just outside of my price range. Great video and explanation though, thank you.

I've found this an extremely useful tool, not only for archive material but also during the pandemic for use on mobile phone and zoom footage where we've had to rely on "home produced" pieces to camera which mix with existing stock footage. It's not a magic wand but it's good, and of course it also funds continuing work on the software. I've had several updates already as they hone the AI. It's important to realise you can't go from SD to 4K. THAT'S going to take a while. I use this on selected shots rather than long pieces but I alerted a friend at Goldcrest about this and they were impressed enough to buy it too, so clearly regarded well by a mainstream production house.

I would spend that much if it comes with free upgrades.
