i thought it was carbonated
ОтветитьMost prevalent source of iron, kitchen section of Walmart......iron pans. Decently clean, good weight for making steel
ОтветитьI was hoping t o s e e e zzzzzz.
ОтветитьIt never hurts to bring in experts like Jesus Hernandez
ОтветитьI have an experiment to try, and i think you are just the guy to try it. Making high carbon steel from Mild steel. I watched a video of a guy that filled a canister with powdered charcoal and strips of mild steel. after heating the canisters to forging temp, he allowed the canister to cool and took out the strips. the result was steel that sparked like high carbon. So, I propose you get mild steel shavings from a machine shop (maybe a collaboration with TOT or similar???) put clean shavings in a sieve then douse them in acetylene torch soot. put the soot covered shavings into a canister and compact like making canister damascus.
ОтветитьCool vid
ОтветитьOmg I know this is a late comment but when he started talking about the sponsorship I literally looked for the “skip ad” button
ОтветитьDoes anyone know if this is the same as tamahagane????
ОтветитьBolt? That’s a hand tamper people use those in landscapers use to pack gravel and dirt etc and I was gonna say it was steel until y’all broke it🤣 and now I see there’s threads because of better handles they preferred
ОтветитьIn case I got isekaid by truck kun
ОтветитьThis is probably irrelevant, but since you made your own steel, used Montana wagon wheels, when it comes time to add your touchmark, right along side that you could stamp it with "Made In USA." Since much of our steel suppliers in the USA get their raw iron from other countries, it may not be Kosher to say our forging products are 100% made here.
ОтветитьEver just watch 20yo now? Like a kid wearing daddy’s work boots.
ОтветитьWas Collin on "FORGED IN FIRE" he really looks like someone I recognize from that showe!?!
ОтветитьCan we get a link for the micro-motor rotary tool?
ОтветитьDuring an apocalypse they say steel will be limited and invaluable but I know that is bullshit. There are enough people that know how to make the stuff and people could and would be able to scrap up the tools to make iron and steel. It might not be as pretty and as good as normal steel but obviously it can be done.
Ответитьwhat in the god dang" is steel then.? just iron that's been worked over?
Ответитьcan you cast carbon steel?
Ответитьi keep half expecting to see colins hair erupt in a firey mane of glory, tie hair near fire and machinery lol
ОтветитьTalk more do less
ОтветитьQuestion: can’t you add carbon dust much like borax to mild steel when forging to make a high carbon steel? Especially when folding steel?
ОтветитьI would like to see Alec go on forged in fire to compete. That would be fun to watch. Lol
ОтветитьAin't that fellas been on Forged in Fire?
ОтветитьThis episode should be added to the Cavalry Saber playlist, I think so anyway.
ОтветитьI'm not really sure how this even worked...
ОтветитьThe sad rayon worryingly peck because boundary conjecturally camp out a threatening baby. clumsy, intelligent semicolon
Ответить"Guys ! we made steel ! Unbelievable !"
As the making of steel is known since centuries, i think it is totally believable ....
To muck talking
ОтветитьI live in the same town as you now do Alec. I watch all your videos. I also experiment smiting in my back yard from time to time
ОтветитьThe gentleman with the long voluminous hair near the fire. He’s making me nervous. A simple braid or even just a second band further down his hair would do a lot to keep it out of the way...
ОтветитьYou didn't make any attempt to cool it or control the process. It's low quality steel. Real steel will stop bullets and support buildings, the iron you made would probably not support itself in a multistory building.
ОтветитьTHAT IS CALL THE TAMAHAGANE
ОтветитьInteresting I have access to pure iron ore near my house I might just go out and get some and try making my own steel I wanna make a 1000 fold Samaria sword it would be cool to make it from home made high carbon steel instead of bar stock or a leaf spring or whatever and I might make a Tanto blade to go with it I think that’s what there called
ОтветитьI live in Montana and I love collecting Old Iron
ОтветитьI bet you could just heat the iron in the forge and let the surrounding carbon adhere to it as well.
ОтветитьCan cast iron Be made into forged iron ?
ОтветитьHe said Unbelievable ??????
Yah People doing that for just thousands of years .
You kind of said everything twice. Especially at the outset. You kind of said everything twice.
The way to make the sun set sooner is to try crafting something you have never made before.
You can use good dirt too...need alot of it but it's a fun process.
Ответитьyou've come a long way sir.
ОтветитьYou can put your cup down
ОтветитьWhere are these kids parents?
ОтветитьSo many people selling out for the scam Chinese games that aren't even real games.
ОтветитьIf iron is 0.2%... it's already steel. I think you are confusing you iron and steel charting for the carbon content.
ОтветитьHonestly wouldn't mind a vid of u finding iron, making steel to make an axe to chop down a tree to make a handle for a sword u make out of the ironsteel
ОтветитьSmelting or melting? Also hundreds of years ago say 1600s if they wanted to make iron they had to work with ore.
ОтветитьI think you could use more acurate terms.
You are using steel to make oyther steel.
Pure iron does not exists.
Ultra low carbon or low carbon is not iron, still is steel
You just melted steel in a rustic furnace
I hope not being rude, but as a metalurgical technician, sounds odd this iron to steel concept you said
6 * 6 ounces = 36, sounds like 2 and 1/4th pound not 4.
Ответитьfk you spend 6 minutes of our time before you even get to the possibility of making steel.
ОтветитьMake iron from steel (im late)
Ответить
