Resident Evil 4 Remake PC - It's Got Issues - Optimised Settings - DF Tech Review

I don't understand why in recent RE Engine games like RE4, Exoprimal and Street Fighter 6 the texture streaming is so weird when on medium settings. In previous games you saw a degradation in texture quality but they were consistent. In newer games they flicker or just never load. It appears that there are no medium quality textures and the game chooses where to load the high resolution textures first, any setting below High (2GB) makes the experience atrocious.

Has any of these issues been fixed?

those hitches are even in RE2 Remake DX12 mode.

I just don't understand why not all games have dlss implemented.

I have an issue with some textures. For example, when you aim the sniper rifle without scope, you can clearly see textures are not loading just mentioning one of the most relevant. I have a RTX 3050 on an ACER NITRO 5 Gaming Laptop. Any thoughts?

Hey guys, wondering if I can get any help on this issue. So i'm on my 2nd playthrough of the game, and when I get to the El gigante boss fight, I keep getting small loading times right before the boss begins, I walk through the gate, and then I get a 2 second black screen with a load time and then the cutscene starts. I'm getting the same loading screen when the Dog appears and when the dog bites the el gigantes ankles. I have no idea why this is happening as this did not happen on the first playthrough at all. Was wondering if anyone has any insight on why this is happening?

GPU: Rtx 3060 TI
Ram: 32 Gb dddr4
Storage: Samsung evo m.2 ssd

Game runs great at 60FPS but constantly crashes due to a d3d error... Back to console gaming for this one.

I recently purchased a laptop with a RTX 2060 and thought that Resident Evil 4 would only run on low graphics settings, but no! The game runs on good graphics settings! Glad I didn't overpay for a laptop with rtx3060

a little late to re 4 remake but 3060ti here and maxed out every thing including rt, turned off motion blur and field of depth, image quality to 110% no fsr or dlss my game didnt crash even once... was checking this video for dlss cause of reddit but nah didnt find it good enough...

I was experiencing the crashing due to low vram before. But now there are no crashes anymore for the entire game. All settings maxed out with ray tracing, not sure if theres an update made.

Did Capcom improved something of its implementation?

for me its Raytracing setting that gives the Fatal Error 25. many others state this as their problem too

On my gtx 1050ti 16gb ram i7 8th gen laptop this game works terribly im playing on low settings and I don't even have 60fps it only hits those 60 fps sometimes

Is there a way you can upload the 2070 preference ini you used? I am crashing when i am trying to boot the game. It just black then the crash report starts. I have 16 GB ram, i wonder if this is the reason i have the crashes.

The fact I have to use optimised settings in game on a 4070 is a joke... Why can't they make games anymore what happened?

So many settings are left out here. What about the so-called resource heavy lighting and effect settings and dismemberment and corpse-count settings?

it's all about GPU related, but this game's problem CPU related i think. because any settings low or high doesn't effect FPS or just a little. but effect gpu usage. Like cpu bottleneck situation. but no cpu bottleneck in system. luckly mostly gpu usage good but sometime drops.

The game literally tells you how much graphics memory will be used, and warns you in the settings menu about using to much memory, and that that will lead to issues. "Fix your game" is a great excuse when you literally use 8gb of memory, when only 7 is available. No wonder you crashed.

2060 12GB 0 crashes

With an i7 9750h and an rtx 2060 i had a pretty good framerate with the optimised settings on the demo but once i installed the full game the performance is really bad like it goes down to 30 fps in the same areas while i had mostly in the high 50's on the demo

Looking forward to play this on my Pentium II 400mhz, Geforce 2 mx 400 with 32mb vram, 10 gb hdd, and 14 inch monitor. Hoping for a smooth 60 fps experience, maxed out in 4 k. Raytracing on, obviousIy. I live the high life, don't be jealous.

Thanks for this breakdown, the settings for this game sure are fiddly. I'm playing the cracked version so it took me a couple of hours to finally get DLSS to work using REFramework, but got there in the end thanks to some helpful folks in the mod's comment section on the Nexus and the difference is very noticable. Can't for the life of me figure out why they would have FSR2 support but no DLSS.

Full game runs pretty bad, FSR looks like crap. Pretty dissapointed by this.

thanks for the optimized configs, I spent a few hours insisting on ray tracing and it was never so good to turn it off, this hair does not make sense to weigh so much, and I will never understand why the DEV insist so much on putting these configs that do not change anything between HIGH and MAXIMO, more causes such a negative impact on the GPU that it even gives the feeling that the game is poorly made, which is not the case. this shadow and volumetric cloud at maximum is so unnecessary that it hurts, is it because the screen space reflection of this engine is so bad? you can't play with this turned on it's not better to play without any reflection than to see the reflection completely broken in front of you

anybody playing on a low end pc ? thinking about buying this game but idk if i can run it at like 40 fps minimum . got a gtx 1060 24gb ram and xeon e3 1230 v2 , it runs the demo decently but idk if the main game would run at all

You should do more research before you start whinning ... image quality can reach 200%... on an rtx 3090 it looks crazy.

I Pray that they had SMAA or plain FXAA, with no TAA, as TAA is so blurry that on the other remakes I just used SMAA evsn though it didn't AA as well. :)

I have a 4090 and I’m getting 45fps in some scenes with 56% gpu usage !! The game is not optimised for nvidia hardware!!!

managed to get this running once i finally tried amd super res for the first time ever. still frame dips here and there but the final battle in chapter 15 where i got 50 frames was an average of 83 fps after turning that option on. still a shame that this pc port is less than stellar but hopefully it'll be fixed later on. still better than redfall

Hardware utilisation is terrible My 4090 is at 70% and cpu at 20% usage and I’m getting unstable framerates with dips to 70fps
