where’d u get urs man?🤙
ОтветитьI remember when these came out and they sounded like crap because of the headphones. Common players didn't really have mixers and recording software wasn't even invented yet. Cool tho!
ОтветитьThe rockman was only used for its clean sound. I think the Rockman they used had the comp bypassed. They used GK amps for distorted tones. Everything went through a Palmer DI into the SSL.
ОтветитьCool
ОтветитьCan you run this into a Marshall head?
ОтветитьIt’s crazy how spot-on the tone is ! Magic
ОтветитьAre you running this in the effects loop or out in front between the guitar and input. My Rockman IIB sounds way better out front. Kinda weak in the loop.
ОтветитьIt is a Rockman they used but it was a modded Rockman they used custom by Scholtz himself.
ОтветитьZZ Top Afterburner is all Rockman
ОтветитьCurious in what context do you use your GT-10? And what are your thoughts on the unit?
ОтветитьMegadeth Peace Sells But Who's Bying was recorded with one of these as well.
ОтветитьLove for you to compare it vs the plugin!
ОтветитьWhat’s the difference between the guitar ace and the x100
ОтветитьWish i would have picked one of those up when they were new. Had a buddy that had one used it as a preamp thru his gear for recording and gigs and that is the exact sound i remember. Not sure i can justify paying what they go for now used unless you got one with all the capacitors replaced and ready to rock for another 20 years or so. The new ones have a bad rep, damn shame dunlop doesn't make them like they use to be made. I'd probably drop $300 on a brand new one if they were the same. Great demo man. Short and sweet enjoyed it.
ОтветитьI though $300 was a lot used for something that cost about $100 when it came out. Now they're selling for around $500 on eBay! Dunlop needs to bring this back, as the own the Rockman name
ОтветитьWish I still had mine. Got it when it first came out.
ОтветитьWhen they 1st came out i got one........... just got it all refurbished ( I had left the batteries and they leaked ) still got the box, headphones, and instructions ................. So happy to play and hear it again ......... brings back memories and still sounds amazing !!!!
ОтветитьI’ve been listening to Hysteria a lot lately. It’s such a feel good album with just enough depth. None of their other albums compare, as a whole.
I’m on the cusp of buying this Rockman. And I might just do it, for Rock n’ Roll sake 🤟🏻
Love your passion for all things Mutt Lange 🎤✨
ОтветитьI would love to see you try to get the tone Mark St. John had on Animalize by KISS. He used one of these
ОтветитьThey normally sound noisier, did you use a noise gate?
Cool video
Missed it one year ago!!!! Sounds amazing!!!! Thanks
ОтветитьNo matter how many times I hear someone play these riffs on one of these, it utterly amazes me. Damn these things are awesome to this day!!!
ОтветитьYou notice the Rockman was switched off =D ?
ОтветитьDave mustaine of megadeth used a rockman as a boost to the hi input of his marshall amp i think peace sells has one of the best metal tones of all time it sounds so good
ОтветитьDef Leppard used a RockBox, not a Rockman. This is one of those myths that persists. Even Phil Collin corrects himself on this.
Ответить
@Jeremy White, did they actually use those small headphone units? Though I was aware Def Leppard utilized the Rockman, I just assumed they used the half-rack mount units for which Tom Scholz designed and used on stage at Boston concerts. I still have a one each of the delay, distortion generator, sustainer and a couple of chorus units. Back in the day, Scholz and his company SR&D built these of excellent quality and rock solid. With that in mind, it would be awesome if you could get him on this show. However he'd probably be just as tough to get to do an interview as with Mutt Lange. Can't hurt to try, you never know. Cheers!
Nice! Are you sending the Rockman stereo headphones out to the Left and Right inputs on your interface?
ОтветитьThat was awesome 🤘🎸🔥
ОтветитьI guess the Rockman sounds like the guitar from the Replacements and Husker Du, and other 80s alternative rock bands. Don’t you think?
ОтветитьI'll ask this question again: Is the X100 the only Rockman that can be used in a live environment or do they all have that ability? Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьIt's Amazing that was the Rig .
ОтветитьGood demo. Cool video.
ОтветитьPlay it into real Amps !
ОтветитьI love to play this song the way Steve played it live
ОтветитьWhat was your signal chain? Rick man to sound card?
ОтветитьThey're cool but I can't believe what they cost now. They were less than a hundred bucks new...when they were new.
ОтветитьThe pedal logo that inspired the megaman videogame series.
ОтветитьWhat console is that on your desk?
ОтветитьI just found mike is it OK to use electronic cleaner detoxify it 😢also lube the switches ?????
ОтветитьHad a Rockman when I started playing guitar, still have it,
ОтветитьWant mine back!!!
ОтветитьThis is awesome
Ответитьi gotta tell ya, it sounds close but it doesnt nail it. theres would have had to have been modified or they used something else...
ОтветитьI still have my Rockman X-100, rack mount Sustainor & Chorus Delay, and Bass Rockman, the only guitar amps I use in my recording studio. During Boston's 1987 Third Stage Tour, I found out where the band was staying, we decided to go there for Brunch on Sunday. I felt so silly, but I took the face plate off my Sustainor and brought it with me. In the restaurant lobby I met and talked with Boston drummer Jim Masdea, and showed Jim the Rockman face plate, he laughed and said... "Oh wow, Tom would love that, that's his fun!" Then we walked out back where all the condo's were, we didn't go far, we didn't see anybody out there. We were just about to turn & leave, and in the distance I see a tall thin man with long dark hair walking with a little boy. I teased my girlfriend saying that's Tom Scholz, she hit me, stop teasing me that can't be him. We got a little closer, me still talking her into that it is Tom, her hitting me more but starting to believe me that it was Tom even though I knew it wasn't. Then as they were slowly walking toward us, nobody else around, my God it actually was Tom Scholz. Longer story shorter we talked a bit,i I thanked him for his music saying we were big fans, he was polite but reserved saying thank you. As I turned to leave, I almost forgot, and said... "Oh, and Tom, I'm not just a fan, I'm a customer also. He looked confused like what? Then I pulled out my Rockman face plate, and he got this huge smile and started laughing. We talked for a while, and I got my picture with him, still with his huge smile on from the crazy Boston fan who decided to bring his Rockman face plate with him, in the rare chance he might meet him, and meet him I did. I still have that awesome picture of me & Tom in my recording studio. Rockman still lives! All 3 of mine still work & sound like new.
