What really makes this scene is a connection to the first scene in the movie, where the Cowboys slaughter a wedding party and the priest quotes Revelations 6:8 at them in Spanish - just before he is shot to death - which Johnny Ringo thoughtfully translates for the audience: "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him." The priest was warning the Cowboys about the End of Days...and now Death has come for them. Very powerful.
