I'm quite skeptical of this new G9 "external hollow point" Would love to see G9 ammo tested using your testing standards.
ОтветитьJust bought my 2nd Shield Plus Yesterday. Love her as a daily carry
ОтветитьIt’s not a slide release, it’s a slide lock lever, and when used as designed it works perfectly. Although many use this lever to release the slide, it is not designed to be used to release the slide at all, let alone “one handed”. The slide should be released with the off hand for all semiautomatic pistols. Try operating the pistol as designed and you will fix this problem.
ОтветитьI've always enjoyed your content, glad you're back.
ОтветитьShield Plus was my 1st handgun. Loved it so much i bought a 4' Performance Center
ОтветитьHi, have you tried adding a red dot to this gun?
Ответитьalsohave you tried the micro HST 150gr?
ОтветитьAlso how about the 150gr Micro HST?
ОтветитьMan the Ballistic king is back, glad to say I now also live in TN.
ОтветитьIt is good to see you making videos again. You have been one of my favorite sites. (BTW you are one of the few reviewers who understands the true concept of momentum.) One of my sons told me that he sold his Glock 43X because of poor accuracy at all but close range, and replaced it with the M&P Shield which he found to be superior in that regard.
ОтветитьThe shield plus was my first firearm. I still carry it now the most, but one thing I wish is that instead of 30 Super Carry it came in .380 ACP.
Despite the size of this firearm, for a first time shooter the 9mm is still not as accurate as I could be if using a larger firearm.
.380 ACP in my opinion remains sufficient for the average law abiding civilian who needs to defend themselves from an opportunistic criminal.
.380 ACP in a handgun the size of the shield would have been great.
Instead now I would suggest the Ruger Security 380 for first time handgun owners.
Nonetheless the Shield Plus is a great firearm.
Even though I'm a 1911 guy, & carry a DW ECO 9MM, I have a thing for M&P. Just got my first Shield, PC 9mm, it's OK I just need to use it more. Thanks
ОтветитьLove the Quigley Down Under reference. 😊
I love my Shield 9 Plus. The only thing I did to mine was sand down that rough texture on the grip. It’s a solid EDC and one of my top choices.
Got this gun! Perfect for the purpose it’s made for! It’s a bit snappy tho. Just something I gotta practice with.
ОтветитьYa know i was thinking of you can do all those 9mm and 45acp ballistic tests with a pistol caliber carbine just to see how much of a difference there is if any
ОтветитьYou mentioned durability with the micro 9 pistols & I couldn't agree more. My Ruger LC9S Pro was replaced with a Ruger SR9C which hasn't given me any problems & is fast becoming my favorite pistol. My LCP has also been repaired with a new barrel and extractor. My Kimber Micro 9 didn't make it much past 500 rounds before needing repair. Both oth my P365 and P365XL Sigs have been back to the factory 3 times EACH with the P365 getting a new slide, extractor, & barrel the last time it was sent in. I do shoot the Sigs a lot & before they break down are extremely reliable.. My PC Shield Plus with a 4" ported barrel has been sent back twice to S&W for repair. As the Shield out shoots the Sigs I bought a plain Jane 3.1" Shield Plus & its trigger seems to be as good as the PC model. And the 3.1 Shield Plus seems to as accurate as my longer 4" barrel Shield Plus. And I really don't feel much difference in recoil either.
ОтветитьAre the 15 round mags compatible with the CA version of the shield plus?
ОтветитьI have the 2.0 in .45 acp. It's a great gun.
ОтветитьFYI the 147 grain Federal HST HP is the duty round of my former PD.
ОтветитьWelcome back. I will get caught up on new videos
ОтветитьReally great to see you posting again. I bought the Taurus GX4 and love it as much as the Shield.
ОтветитьAlways like your videos. Very Informative.
ОтветитьIs the plus any bigger than the standard shield?
ОтветитьLoving your content brother. It was great meeting you today (Hector)@ Chuck's class.
ОтветитьIt's like the chuck taylor's of guns.
ОтветитьAll the little details you have included make this video fantastic!
ОтветитьGood ol' Shield Plus. This is currently my EDC, but she might be taking a back seat to the P365XL Spectre Comp. Still deciding.
As for the slide stop issue -- in my experience it seems to be dependent upon the order of operation. If it's unloaded or YOU lock it back yourself, it doesn't want to be released as easily. If you insert a loaded mag in there though, it seems to release just fine.
I actually did a video on this very topic. Whatever you do, don't be tempted to file that catch down like some folks have done. 😳
I like mine for times when I need to carry concealed on-body. I put one of the talon rubberized grips over the shitty sandpaper texture and it made it doable for concealed carry in the Deep South. I generally carry a full size service pistol with me (not on me most of the time) and in .40 Caliber not 9mm if I think there is any slighter chance than normal I might need a gun. Being the odds of that actually being several million to one and mine are about double most peoples I figure the Shield plus is as good as any of the others I own,
Ответитьi would consider this gun if i did not already have the sig p365 an xl
ОтветитьMy everyday carry, Been a great gun so far.
ОтветитьThanks for the video! We’re still here too.
ОтветитьGot my Shield plus a year or so ago. Love it. I heard one reviewer mention that releasing a locked-back slide was pretty difficult when it was manually pulled it back on an empty mag, but fairly easy when it locked back after firing the last bullet in a mag (the more important instance). Sounded odd, but I happily discovered that was also exactly the case with mine, also. I prefer this Shield over my Sig p365x.
ОтветитьYou always have well thought out and fair reviews. Your lack of hubris display is appreciated. Thank you, sir. More please.
ОтветитьSmooth out trigger by: Dry fire. Don't rack slide. Work trigger back and forth 10-15 min. Feel crunchiness melt away. Works well.
ОтветитьAdmit little disappointed with the unboxing then… as usual wonderful job. Always enjoy your vids
ОтветитьThanks for the ammo advice. Been carrying the Shield Plus in warm weather for over a year and I'm very happy. Great grip and frame texture, probably the best in the segment, and the newer flat face trigger is a big improvement over the segmented M&P version. The optics ready version is a great deal and S&W regularly has rebates or extra magazines as incentives. I ditched my G43 in favor of the Shield Plus.
ОтветитьI heard there were some feeding issues with the 13 round mags. Anyone have this problem?
ОтветитьGlad to see you're still around. You were huge part in helping me choose my carry ammo when I got my first gun as a 21 year old. God bless this holiday season.
Ответить😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 turd firearm
ОтветитьThere he is! Never liked the original single stack Shield, or the XD-S. Felt like gripping a pack of playing cards. The 365 and this Shield Plus are way better. I have a 365XL with RD
ОтветитьGlad to see your back 👍
ОтветитьThank you for making new content. I have been following your channel for years and am glad to see that you have been making more videos.
ОтветитьMy edc
ОтветитьDandy little pistol,
ОтветитьGood to see you, now post a video weekly. 😅
ОтветитьSkipping the un-boxing and going straight to the shooting was refreshing. I purchased my Shield Plus shortly after it was released on the market. It has since usurped my Glock 19 as my primary carry. I consider 10 rounds with two 13 round magazines as backup to be sufficient. I carry mostly in non permissive environments and for long periods so the lower profile and extra comfort of the Shield over the Glock was the deciding factor for me. With high ammo costs these days mostly all I shoot anymore are my carry guns with the Shield having several thousand rounds through it by now. Durability wise it is holding up well with no issues to report and the controls have loosened up and smoothed out considerably , which seems to be the case with most M&P pistols.
I run 124gr +P HSTs as my primary carry load while I train with Winchester 124gr NATO loads. I do also do a lot of plinking with whatever 115gr I find cheapest at my local shop.
I find it fun and enjoyable to shoot and I shoot it about as well as my larger pistols. Even the finish has held up well despite living in a suede Glaco shoulder rig most of the time.
I'm willing to bet that as he gains trigger time on this pistol TN9 will find that the Shield Plus finds it's way into his carry rotation more often than he initially expected.
