Thanks for letting us know this. I'm sure the M3 iMac is a super nice, fast desktop for us Mac users. I'd love to have one!

I think there are reviewers who rate a product like the iMac based on what they would like it to be and not what it actually is. I would have liked a 27-inch, screen, but Apple doesn't want it to compete with its own 27-inch studio display. I've also read complaints about the price Apple charges for upgrades. No surprise here as Apple products are not cheap. I've also read complaints that there are no options for the M3 Pro or Max. Hey, this product is not intended for power users, but its intended users will definitely be satisfied with it.

Smaller screen and still not upgradeable. Why put up with it when Apple serves up 💩?

It’s £1400 in the UK (~$1550), it’s far too expensive to be a “family” computer unless there’s someone who genuinely needs the M3 performance.

I bought a pretty spec'd out 16 GB Ram M3 iMac, and it's spectacular. Hasn't had a single task thrown at it that it didn't blaze through.

Ten years no problem...not really. And when something breaks? And driver support? Apple loves to cut support after four... You pay Apple care, what in any other country is called warranty, that lasts for two years no payment added. Which is dishonest to the customer. Apple makes interesting products with clean esthetics. Interesting new ARM architecture based silicone (which will be followed by other manufacturers in near future so this advantage will diminish), but has it´s limitations compared to the x86 architecture. But the marketing and customer support got a really heinous Chinese treatment in the last years. I always ask my self, why Apple customers tolerate such treatment. It is like Stockholm syndrome. My brother in law was a top manager at a HP/Apple repair service, managing the whole country, and listening to him how Apple treats customers was really disappointing. He had a closet full of "unrepairable" MacBooks, iPhones... Simply said, the whole family had Apple products for free. I would by an Apple product if not for the customer support and used cars salesman treatment...and absurdly inflated prices. 200 bucks for 8GB of RAM... Just no.

Basically Apple just got lazy. Couldn't b bothered to create a new model. Maybe Apple feels there isn't really a market for Desk tops, so why bother wasting time on the iMa. Me personally prefer desk tops to MacBooks, so I luv the iMacs.

Wouldn't upgrading the SSD to 512 Gb or 1 Tb improve performance, as well? My question: for editing podcasts in Logic Pro (typically no more than 4-5 tracks), would the M3 iMac be adequate? I really want a 27" iMac Pro, but it's not available, and I don't want to spend the money for a Cinema Display and a high-end Mac mini or Mac Studio. Thoughts?

Why aren't there pro/max variants of the iMac? I don't think there's any technological/thermal reasons why they couldn't build with those specs, and I'm sure it'd be a slam dunk for prosumers who want a monitor thrown in for free.

Then again I'm not running one of the most profitable companies in history, so what would I know?

Apple should have put in the M3 Pro SoC into the 24" iMac. THAT would have made it very useful for even medium-duty video editing.

The True Top of the Line 5K iMac, is the 4TB or 8TB SSD, 64 or 128 GB of RAM, and the 5700XT Graphics Card w/16GB of RAM! This iMac, overall, with a Bigger Screen, a better Screen with Nano-Texture and 16GB of RAM, and you’ll notice a better overall Computing experience, especially with Ethernet, over the M3 iMac with Wi-Fi.

I had the fully spec'd-out M1 model, and was very impressed overall, especially the aesthetic, an absolutely beautiful looking machine. So much so, I had to re-arrange my room/desk layout just so I (and everyone else!) could see that deep metallic blue and big-ass Apple logo.
I was also just as impressed with the fact that despite it not being a "Pro" machine, it could handle "Pro" tasks.
So I was very happy when Apple announced their "Scary Fast" event, and dropped the M3 24' iMac. With little to no change, at all! (If it ain't broke, why fix it!?!), I again ordered the Blue, fully spec'd-out model (within 15 min. after launch).
Now, a 27' model would have been nice, as would a "Pro" version, but that would have cost a lot more, besides, I believe they will be coming soon anyway. And yeah, they could have changed out the Lightning charge ports to USB-C, but to be honest, it really isn't that big of a deal, I mean, its not like anyone is transferring data through the mouse/keyboard/trackpad, and in my experience, they only need charging every 2-3 weeks at most, so I don't really see the big deal (with the exception of the mouse, that shit needs to be changed!).

IMHO this vid is missing a point (the “elephant in the room” ?) : if so many people are whining about performances, it's because no other version than the basic M3 is available. When I once purchased my old Intel iMac, options included the size of the storage, the RAM and the type of chip (i5, i7, i9…) as well as the number of cores. Maybe many people would have liked a M3 Pro/Max iMac, even 12 mm thin instead of 11.5 mm…

I'd be curious to see the thermals on that maxed out 27" iMac with the full 128gb of DDR4 RAM and a 2TB SSD. I would assume the the 27" iMac would breath much better due to the surface area, therefore delaying thermal throttling?

This iMac it’s the butterfly for this generation. Look like a good idea bad execution.
What apple did with the MBP M1 14 and 16 was amazing. MagSafe without restricting USB c charging. Mini LED. SD card. They were pragmatic and was awarded.
Just give us 27 inch, boring color, Ethernet (mac mini have 10gbe), M3 pro. Do what they did with the laptop, ditching this concept.
Or give it 512gb 16gb as base. And should be a better product.
Also I don’t see they get discounted
Here in Brazil where Apple products are double the price, Amazon often sells MBA and MBP with good discount for our parameters. The IMac. I never see any.
The iMac use to seek better than Mac mini. This day I doubt it.

Please just give us a 27 inch pro version, also not in this awful color.
Better yet a thousand dollars display, not over engineered with a built in adjustable stand. Not this nonsense for upgrading the stand and also it’s awful you have to choose between vesa and the stand and you’re stuck with it.

The real problem is, outside US the price has dramatically increased where the performance is on par with the previous model for the normal consumers.
It was not a popular product, but it became a trash while with leas money people
could have bought a 27" imac with external graphics.

This is the most cognitive dissonance ive seen. "Surfing the net is a 17% increase performance making it the fastest surfing we've tested"... to video edit was about 20 seconds faster on the old Pro which isnt that noticeable. Surfing relies more on webpages available so if a website is changing their layout for new sales or products, then youll be limited to the servers speeds they can crank out, not your fiber optic internet company. Having slower renders and dropping from 27" to 24" is going to impact people more than just "it actually performs slightly better than the old 9ne its replacing, but 24" isnt that big of a differeence. I used to have a 23" monitor. Then a 25" photo editing monitor. Now q 32" 4K 160hz miniLED monitor. I couldnt go back to 25" or even a 27".

What's unfortunate is the screen size. I would totally buy a new, larger-screen M(x) iMac if they offered it at least in 27", or better yet a long-overdue 32"+ option. I am considering a Mac-studio but I just enjoy the all-in-one format. Just my opinion.

A 'future proofed machine for the next ten years'. Hah.

Can anyone link me to a review of the 8GB base level model and temps/throttling/stutter, re that single tiny fan. None of my iMacs have lasted anywhere near ten years and that was back when you could replace parts/pads/paste/panels expired by the heat, I'm sure repairing an Apple silicon Mac where everything is physically soldered to the main board, wouldn't be cheap...

I'm sick of out of touch (buy, buy, buy from our links to support the channel) reviewers taking the piss at consumers and honest reviewers who've sent their back. Also, absolutely no one asked for 8GB and a slow 256GB on a computer that costs that much (still more in the UK), most of us have multiple tabs open and multitask, doesn't in any way make us power users.

Just stop, it's not consumers with unrealistic expectations that are the problem, it's Apple selling base configs as powerhouses and reviewers often not reviewing the base model iMac with 8GB of memory.

Sympathies to those who hoped for a 27" or larger model, especially if the rumours that no such home user iMac is coming; perhaps partner a 16GB M2 Mac Mini with a larger screen, maybe an OLED for media consumption -

I'd certainly not want to play Starfield, etc, on that 24" Apple silicon Mac compared to the old 2020 27" model with its semi-decent graphics card...

- And hey, if you like immersive experiences, no white bezel while watching movies in the dark. And a second screen with a regular panel for high def text. Two screen setups are great for video editing work.

I have the 27" 2020 iMac i7 5700xt 64gb ram.
I would still keep this iMac over the M3. I don't think it's worth me spending over $2400ish for a new iMac especially the screen size.
I think the new M4 or M5 will be the better upgrade in terms of iMac even with 24".

The current M3 vs Intel iMac the CPU and SSD destroys and beats the Intel version. GPU wise, I still think that 5700xt is still going strong.
