I don't know why, but anytime I here about Artyom's mistake with the Dark Ones...

I start crying like a babe.

Something about conflict, death, and suffering... All arising out of a simple misunderstanding...

It tears my guts out.

Amazing video man. Even tho im terrified of the metro games and i always play on the easiest difficulzy, i love them. I just dont like horror and im really terrified of paranormal things like ghosts, zombies and mutants i have no idea why. There were times in my life i stared right back at death without fear, but a picture of a ghosts or a zombie film? I just cant handle that idk why.

The Dark Ones were so annoyingly stupid. One or two incidents of them trying to approach humans and then driving them insane with their telepathy should have been enough, instead they just kept coming DOZENS of times, again, and again, apparently oblivious to the mountains of dead humans they kept leaving behind. If there honestly is absolutely no way for you to communicate with humanity that doesn't drive them insane, then just STOP APPROACHING THEM. If the roles were reversed, and it had been the human characters who didn't realize that their communication methods had been killing dozens of Dark Ones, the humans would be viewed as clumsy, destructive oafs sticking their noses where it didn't belong. The only thing that makes the Dark Ones the victims in the fact that their not human, and therefore can't be expected to notice the death their causing.

By the end of the game I wanted the Dark Ones dead just as bad as Miller.

I just had a dream about the dark one last night I dunno what it means but hopefully it's good

Love these. Wisefish is one of my favorite content creators. In depth lore, a voice that captivates you and one of the few that covers these games/books thoroughly.

I never heard miller say that in metro exodus am I missing something I’ve done both good and bad endings

I didnt experience the part where the small one stops artyom from detonating D6, did i missed something?

I accidentally got the good ending on my first playthrough.

The Metro and Witcher franchises are my favourite book adaptation games. It's my tradition to revisit them couple times every now and then

Its kinda the dark ones fault that they got shot. You don't reveal yourself as a big slender creature to people who are already scared and THEN TO START TO PROVE A POINT MELT THEIR BRAINS

Men i hope so much for Metro 4 that the Dark Ones return somehow back into the story focus (beside more chapters underground in a Metro, not that i completly disliked Exodus Surface chapters)

The Dark Ones always had such a great unique grey-painted role in the lore of Metro delivering the depressing message that humans destroy everything what they dont understand or cant control.

Wow, the games and the books really vary a lot. I guess I need to give the games a play

Just finished my playthrough list of my first Metro game, Exodus tonight. I had no idea that the dark ones were something I should be looking for. But I did see something that I think you might find interesting. During the fall segment of the train Ride on the way to novosibirsk, If you go to the front of the train and stand with Sam and watch off the right side of the train for long enough, you will pass a train station and at that station is a person, just standing there, I thought it was like a zombie at first, then maybe somebody that froze in a standing position... But now I wonder

If anyone didn’t know this but if u stay in the main menu screen of metro exodus for a certain amount of time a dark one will show up out side the window of the train. So you never know the dark ones where probably still with us keeping us safe.

I prefer to believe that the darkones aren’t man made but rather discovered under D6.
It feels weird to have people make supernatural beings, but finding them makes more sense. Maybe that’s how the psychic mass in the red square in the books was a result from experiments on the dark ones?

Within the universe of Metro 2033, the Dark Ones are humanoid creatures, which are descendants of humans who survived the nuclear holocaust and adapted to this new post-apocalyptic world.

I loved finding the hookah, hitting it like a stoner, and seeing the dark one. It was a great touch.

In Metro Exodus theres a part of the game where in the desert bunker when going thru the vents you can see a dark skinny leg move to another vent which is inaccessable. wherever i look i see no mention of of, so maybe a dark one has been following Artyom?

You actually blow the D6 up, unless your karma isn't high enough, where you get the good ending.

I remember playing this game back on 360 I nuked the dark ones probably not the best choice cause all three games have two different endings lol

I was given the optional ending to spare them, but I chose to nuke them. If they couldn't figure out a way to talk to Humans without killing them, then that's on them.

You would suspect that an intelligent group of telekinetic beings would be able to figure out that simply walking up to humans would be a bad idea.

i play on german and there they are literally named "Die Schwarzen" translating to "The Blacks" you can tell why naming them like that was a bad idea

I just finished the game and... Bombed them. So the whole story could've been avoided if they could communicate better.

Be interesting to see the baby dark one return, only to find out Artyom went on a trans-siberian rail trip.

I've always wondered why my brother liked the game, of course being an ass I was like "It's probably no different to fallout." Man... was my thoughts back then was disgraceful.

My theory behind the dark ones is that they are just aliens who saw the human race blow it’s self to smithereens and they are now trying to remind the humans to not blow themselves up again

I deffo subscribe to the alien theory. Lil baby Dark One looks too much like a traditional Grey.

The only two games that turned the script on its head and made me realize following orders turned me into a genocidal asshole on accident are shadow of the colossus and 2033

all humans know is hardship death and suffering with brief moments of happiness and joy in between. it's deep rooted in us to survive and it will take alot to trust someone or something.

you could say we have it good now but we are still doing the same mistakes as in the past, the difference being our bellies are full and we live longer lives with a smidge of health... we dope our brains with drugs and entertainment just to take a break from reality instead of truly enjoying the present with one another as company.

which is why i find this series of games interesting because it reminds me of that.
