Wonder if the number of people who loved Prometheus is enough to outweight those who found it meh to hated it. Yeah, most can agree it was pretty looking but so many found the plot and characters less than masterful, something that could have been saved by what was on the cutting room floor and/or excised from earlier script drafts. I believe planet fours citizens are like the vikings; they are farmers, cultivators and caregivers. I believe the engineers are the militant group made to protect them sorta like the androids.

I just assumed the Engineers in space were modified to survive the harshness of space and to integrate with their ships while the Engineers on the planet were just civilian engineers. Like space marines and humans in 40k.
And Ridley Scott isnt creative anymore so ofcourse everyone on planet paradise would be dressed like Jesus.

I think Planet 4 was a hybrid race of Engineers and Humans that was being monitored via the Ring around the planet by actual Engineers. Whether the actual engineers died off or moved on or hybridized themselves eventually as well I don’t know. That’s why Planet 4’s species looks different than the original engineers.

Perhaps after deciding to wipe out Earth given the reasons in the deleted scripts and blu ray scenes they wanted to preserve the “Star child” in some way with this hybrid form and destroy original humans due to their view that we had been corrupted w war and greed, etc.. especially after we punished the one human they brought to their home world.

It’s ridiculous how Scott allowed these HACKS to change the origin of that ship. That ship had landed by accident on that strange planet and was soon consumed by the planet’s creatures. The space jockey was attacked by a large chestburster. But the writers couldn’t come up with that concept, so they invented some religious crap and that big bald guy. Feh!

It is very clear the specie on Planet 4 is not original Engineers , all physiological characteristics point to it . Size is different , eyes are different, even the skin tone although similar is different , engineers skin tone in much more pearly. The specie on Planet 4 is a result of Engineer's genetical experimentation much like the Human specie on Planet Earth is in the lore but there is one major difference.

As we know engineers strarted their genetical experimentation by seeding other planets with their DNA combined to the blood of the first deacon that they worshiped as their lord, this whole ceremony is depicted at the beginning of Prometheus. This was done with the intention to procreate an offspring specie with the ability to reproduce which we know Engineers had lost a long time ago.

Planet 4 and Earth had been chosen by the enginneers for this purpose and both gave births to '' enginneer-morphs '' species , namely the specie David exterminated on Planet 4 and Humans on Planet Earth .Both planets were monitored often by the enginners ( like any scientists would monitor his experiment ) and both species seemed to be able to reproduce naturally which means Enginneers were finaly seeing the end of the tunnel ... but this is where the differences appeared.

Humans on Planet Earth turned out to be an extrêmement violent specie and much different physiologically speaking thus the Enginneers prefered to wipe them out. On contrary the specie on Planet 4 were much more closser to Engineers physiologically and they were much less violent so they were the perfect result , the chosen one , the salvation to the Enginneers problem.

What David did on Planet 4 was to kill the only remaining hope the Enginneers had to continue their lineage , he killed what they treasured the most !

Beautiful species before that black goo took them over. I hope they can travel back and find one of their own before this and reclaim their true magesty. From the looks of the movie their own experiment as advanced as they where it was nor controlable even for themselve leading to dna degredation and mutations for which limited their abilities greatly as Star Travelers. You could only hope they would realize this someday.

I think Ridley Scott got lucky with Alien and Blade Runner. Every other film he's made has been complete trash.

He's a trash director who accidentally made two great films in the 80's.
