In this video, Jeremy Cioara covers the CCNP Security certification. Although the tests and certifying knowledge for the CCNP Security have changed since this video was released, the underlying knowledge remains crucial. Get a sense of what the CCNP tests for and how to prepare.

Cisco might update and change the exam for their CCNP Security certification, but one thing won't change: the CCNP Security demonstrates your knowledge of how security features and functions work, not just that you can turn them on.

The exams might change, but knowledge of Cisco routers and switches won't. To pass the CCNP Security, you'll need to know how to get into access lists and how to use SNMP monitoring to see when attacks are happening, you'll need to understand common Layer 2 attacks, DHCP snooping, and site-to-site VPNs. You'll need to know how to do everything without the SDM command line, from zone-based firewalls, to IPS implementations to implementing VPNs using command lines on the iOS. See everything you'll ultimately need to demonstrate mastery over as you progress toward your CCNP Security.
