If I were in charge of the ending...
General Hummels demands would've been met, the families of the dead marines would've been paid to show the government cares, general Hummel would get a sendoff and a funeral he deserves, the government would retrieve the dead bodies of the marines and seals from the island and paid their families as well, the airstrike would not happen, and the government would've apologized for their arrogance.
In addition to that..
Womack would've decided to let mason go by himself, and Goodspeed could live his life with his child in peace knowing the chemical weapons program would be shut down.

I think terrorists would pay 100 m. for VX Gas. Those marines or whoever they're, are stupid, U.S. Government would nuke any country for the given asylum, if attack by VX Gas has taken place. Movie... what else to say. Actors are true professionals.

There once was this kind of incident, when I was at lead guarding one entry point into the base:
A general appears with a major driving the car. I was instructed to not to allow anyone to pass if they won't show their identity card.
"Major, sir, would you please show me your card!" (Noticed his emblems.)
>I look into the car and see a general on the backseat.
-Do you see who is in the back? (Says the major)
"Major, sir, I've been specially instructed to not anyone pass without the card, sir."
(At this point, I made some hand signs behind my back to see that my company supervisor knew the deal...)
-You won't let us pass? (Major asks)
"Sir, I've been instructed to not let anyone pass without appropriate documents. Show me yours and I'll let you pass."
-I won't show you anything, do you see who is in the backseat?
"Sir, I see, but you shall not pass until you show me the documents."

Then my company officer arrives and shows with hand signs to let them pass. And then I sign the major to drive through.

Got one extra day of leave for my tenacity.

There needs to be a company out there that teaches actors how to wear a military beret. Popping that thing on your head Girl Scout style, strips away military authenticity in a movie quicker than anything...it's ridiculous!

After The General said “We bluffed they called it, the mission’s over” Tony Todd looks to his right to see if the others are still ready to throw down because that explanation was so on point and straight forward, it might have convinced the other two to stand down.

That attention to detail is greatly appreciated by Me, because body language is a genuine form of communication that people can’t hide (usually).
