You Should Compete in Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments and Here's Why.

I’d like to I’m just scared it will end up like when I played in mtg tournaments.

I like my deck but I’ve only won a duel with it once should I make a new one or stick with what I’m used too

I can agree fully. I was a newer player to the game, only fifteen years old, And I had a copy of Dingirsu. I was horrible with technology, so I could not sell it online, and I was afraid that my lack of a lot of Yugioh knowledge at the time would end up getting me scammed. But only did I meet these older people at my local card shop that were interested in the trade (of course) but they helped me work out the differences and refused to give me anything less that was not equal to The Dingirsu. They were really nice and not I am a regular at the tournament at the card shops.( up until recently of course)

Everyone at my locals except me and my friend has all the expensive cards and we just end up getting shit on

The main reason I don’t play tourneys since my deck is all I have and I don’t think it is tournament level and I can’t buy more cards

I would like to go to events

(This applies to before lockdown) I would enter a tournament but I’m scared to because of online dueling, I have had some really fun duels online but my deck just cant compete with the decks I see online, I use chronomalies which unfortunately can’t touch loads of decks that I see online, I’m so used to people doing combos that can literally take ten minutes and get a full board of monsters with 3k attack and even though chronomalies work against decks that have monsters that change their points, the opponent almost always negates my effect or finds a way around it, I feel like to perform half decent in a tournament I’d have to get a completely new op deck that I don’t really enjoy playing like I do for chronomalies

You go in the tour, ton of hts, omni negates, 2/3 turns duels and they would have the arrogance and hipocrisy to say that Zexal is unfair

Literally every store around me overgeneralizes from bad experiences and ban Yu-Gi-Oh from being played at their store.

Im usually a shut in kind of player I only had 1 real friend but going to my locals for the first time I noticed how much I was missing out there are allot of nice people I was kind of shy at first I didn’t what to go up and challenge anyone because of my fear of losing but eventually I mustered up all my courage an challenged someone my age it was super fun I was 12 back then sadly I think the shop shut down

I think this was a big help and definitely provided a lot more insight into how the competitive scene for the game looks and what to expect from it.

I haven't been to a yugioh tournament since a sneak peak event for ancient prophecy. So I am scared of not understanding the correct manners or looking dumb, mostly.

Yeah I don't think so I'm just getting back in the game with some friends and we're only using old cards pre synchro summons. I doubt it would be much use

Is a blue eyes deck good enough for a tournament ?

Went to a locals last Friday and it was great! Got Ghost Ogre, Ghost Mourner, a new copy of Ash Blossom and the rest of the cards I needed for my vendread base!

i don't go cause i don't have a good enough deck for it (mostly structure decks or other themed decks like yugi's decks)

I went to my first locals this weekend most fun I had in a long time and really help feed my competitive nature lol won the whole thing Friday went back Saturday and got spammed like a red headed step child lmao definitely gonna go back

Honestly wish any card shop close to me play Yu-Gi-Oh, but there isn't any. Just Magic, Digimon, Pokemon etc. Never get to play anyone with Yu-Gi-Oh. Guess some people aren't lucky as me to play Yu-Gi-Oh or have ever get a chance to play Tournaments.

I'm a og duelist lol I'll just get bullied there.. not only that, there's no fun with how much the game changed. It's so so fast that it's not even fun to me anymore

i just sit by myself when at locals, unless i am in a tournament, even then, i sit alone in between rounds, and the only tournaments i've been to is just locals, even when regionals comes near me, and i have never topped, always placing towards the bottom of the list, and i never pull anything good, and i have never gotten better

I'm here from the future in the year 2022 and after getting back into the game during the pandemic playing with my coworkers on our breaks or in the back after we punch out after having not played for many years, I'm now preparing for my very first tournament I found a card shop that is does tournaments on my day off thankfully.

I remember going to my LCS interested in getting back into it after being away for over 10 years. Naturally I had questions but the owner of the LCS didn't like the fact I had questions. He was rude to the point it was insulting. I ended up going to a different store in the next town over and they were super friendly and helpful with my questions. Fair to say that became my new LGS to attend events and of course spend money

Question (anyone can answer) why do they say “Pass Turn?” My friend and I always say “I end my turn.” Is it because “Pass turn” prevents confusion from “End Phase” and “Turn End.” They say it in the anime so why say “Pass Turn” in the TCG?
