If I see a reaper chest that I can get to but can't get to Reaper's Hideout with, I bury it and add it to the quest board. Gives a bit of incentive to try them if you know you just might hit a jackpot.

I did 5 quests made by players. And yes I know which one is player made and which one I AI made. Never anything better than castaways, fouls and kegs...

Oh Yes.. I agree 100% Quest board need an overall or some massive changes. its not worth the time you spend.
I also another thing I personally think need an change.. is the Skelle fleet. on an sloop that Fleet is horrible to deal with. Yes its easier then it was before season 9.. but its still an shit show to deal with, as most of the time, The storm is near by and will try to make shit worse for you, especially if you're solo sloop, not to mention The Curse balls, like Anchor ball, or Peace ball.. both can absolutely ruin your chances to finish it in good time. Anchor ball.. is the worst off them all, Peace ball is close second as Pulling down the cannons is an real pain each time you get hit by one.
Skele Fleet need something to make it more worth doing, as its one of the world events that NO one wanna do and always stays up for hours before disappearing.

It'd be great if posted maps would last longer than then next restart after your session, I think there are plenty of players who'd actually post maps if they knew their treasure would actually get dug up instead of just deleted. The quest board could be really fun if it was just properly expanded on, imagine if it gave you the tools to make your own little quests properly like you get from bottles or companies, player made riddles and clues leading to the next until you reach the end, instead of just "here is the treasure".
If we had something like that I'd make frequent use of the quest board because it'd just be fun to craft something for someone else to play through and hopefully enjoy.

I sometimes finish my game sessions by transferring as much of my barrels in a storage crate and burying it on an island not too far from an outpost. On the same island, I also bury any broken Emissary flags of mine as well as any valuable loot I find on this island. I then go to the outpost and post the resulting map on the Quest Board hoping to make a little difference in a pirate's day with a full crate of miscellaneous stuff and some starting loot. I have no idea whether or not those maps were ever used.

Edit: the riskiest part is the return to the outpost. Since my ship is devoid of resources (besides my character's inventory), any encounter has the potential to damage my ship to an extent I cannot repair. More than once, it was a race against a filling hull.

Personally I just grab maps for where I’m around preferably small islands as I get some loot and then skeleton captains as the main thing just to do as side stops basically

You do get commendations for posting and digging up things, but they're relatively easy to do in a session. Grants you access to the party boat accessories. I think it was post 25 maps, and dig up 25 treasures. After that it was hit a boat 25 times with a rowboat cannon, set someones ship on fire with fireworks and a few other things but my party barge is complete.

You are not supposed to only pick maps from quest board and do them. You are supposed to compliment your voyage with treasure maps from the board. What we like to do is start a voyage, check which islands we have to visit and then pick maps from the board to those same islands. This way you are getting additional loot from the places you are going to visit anyway.

They should make it so you get commendations for adding maps that have certain chests to the board, maybe possibly giving extra stuff if its all stuff of certain styles of chests, like ghostly loot or Athena treasures. Can easily just make it so there is titles you get from creating maps with different valued loot... not only would it give completionist's something to aim for, but would also give other players a reason to do these maps as well, due to having a chance of getting the loot from said Completionist's!

Heck, can even give you a trinket/small decoration for a captained ship depending on what loot you bury/how many of that loot you bury... so lets say you bury 5 Chest of Legends total (as in in total, not all on 1 map, but just every time you would bury one and add that map it would add a 1), and gives you something like a Little Chest of legends decoration you can place on your Captained ship.

It'd be cool if the boards gave a copy of someone else's ship loot to dig up somewhere. That way there's still the gambling aspect of getting bad loot, but there's a chance of getting huge loot if someone online is stacking loot and you get their copy.

Yep, quest boards suck, but I use them as supplemental destinations on my way to other Gold Hoarder quests. Adds a nice bonus to my runs.

Whenever I finish a session, I bury all my supplies from the session on an island and post a map to them. It's an outrageous start if someone digs up the hoard.

I find the quest boards are great once i've set up a voyage if there's any with the same islands so I do always check them. Beyond that though I don't bother with them!

It counts as a World Event. And as there can only be 1 Active World Event at a time, you are safe as long as you can see a Skull/Fleet Cloud or an Ashen Winds Tornado somewhere.

The biggest issue is that your loot most likely won't be found. If you leave the game and the server restarts (something that happens every 48 hours) your loot just vanish.

The high chance of someone not finding my loot is te reason I am not making maps.

Yeah, apart from the condecs when they first apperaed there is no upside on doing them. I still bry a lot of treasure to get my pass going, since the maps you submit help a little. But, there is potential, RARE just need to go on a try and error rampage on it..
