Loved the show, did not even hear about it until it was released and watched it like I was possessed by a spirit.

My only criticism was that the theme of bad men was a little on the nose at times. I don't dislike the theme, it's a thing and worth exploring. I just remember the cop's useless husband was great but that there were two moments where he felt like a caricature. The first was where he told deputy Olmstead to make things about him all the time and cook better etc. I think that would have felt more real if it was made a bit more subtle (like "I feel you don't support my career. I'm working all day here"). The second was where he didn't even pretend to look after the kid. I think it would have been better if he tried but failed, like giving her a pack of pop tarts and then claimed to have looked after her.

I think a bit of restraint in moments like that would not have taken away from the message but just made it a bit less heavy handed.

That said, I still love it and this is a minor criticism. Great writing, great cinematography and some amazing performances.

Really enjoyed the season. Was a little disappointed that it didn't relate to any of the previous seasons, like how they are related to each other (if that makes sense) but looking forward to seeing what a head for the series.

This was easily the best season of Fargo for me. I love Juno’s work. For me the only soft spot is that I can only see Jon Hamm for who he is in his other roles. Someone less known (the way Ole’s actor is less known) might have worked better.

Excellent recap and analysis. Particularly your points on Ole Munch. I agree Juno Temple was spectacular. She's become one of those actors I trust implicitly to go deep and deliver every time. I also appreciate you lining up the original Fargo clips so perfectly as to show their recreation in Easter eggs. Really helpful visual! You're awesome, keep being awesome, please. Thanks!

The theme music for Fargo is taken from a Norwegian song written by Johannes Bakken in 1938, called "The wild sheep". It is often refered to as a traditional tune, but isnˋt - although it is traditional in style. The title "The wild sheep" and its lyrics refer to the theme from the bible about the lost sheep. The morale of the lost sheep story is: "Joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth." So a very Christian song about redemption and being saved in Jesus. Knowing this the ending makes even more sense, with the eating of the cake symbolising the communion etc.

I don’t know how anyone could make a finale more beautiful than this. The final shot of Munch experiencing forgiveness after 500 years of being a Sin Eater made me cry. I love the juxtaposition of the 3 Lyons using their faith the do good in the world compared to the Tillmans’ corrupt faith. Dot and her family’s love, joy, and compassion triumphed over Roy’s arrogance and brutality. I can’t express how deeply the ending affected me. 💕

I'm actually Danish 😉and a huge fan of the entire Fargo TV show, from season 1 to 5. In my opinion, the latest season surpasses all the previous ones. I genuinely believe that Fargo is currently the best TV show I have ever seen from the USA! One sign of its high quality, for me, is that any interpretation never captures it all. I can keep interpreting the many layers of the series. So gratifying and enriching.

you hear some folks saying how great brilliant these shows are nowadays , im just baffled, so by that we would have to say season 1 was a master piece in tv. billy bob , martin freaman and the rest of the crew were mind blowing. breakdown seasons ,1 to 3 were very good wriiten directed acted tv shows. 4 and 5 seasons were mediocre "average at best" some good acting some good wriing some good direction , but not a patch on the first 3. and were seeing a lot of below par tv dramas of late. 6 out of 10 rating for season 5 in my book.

I took the whole point of the season to be about masculinity and breaking down its narratives one by one. For example Dot at no point is a damsel in distress, she remains incredibly capable through the whole thing. For this to work in most media the writers would feel that it would be necessary to give Dot masculine qualities to make up for occupying a masculine role, but throughout the show she is polite and considerate acting in an unshakable “Minnesota nice” only reverting back to her “tiger” self as a form of survival. I also like how her husband isn’t ridiculed by his lack of traditionally masculine traits, he’s instead treated as a clear motivation for the audience to refer back to when you follow Dot in her quest, he isn’t aggressive, he has an almost ridiculous amount of trust in his wife’s decisions, he isn’t confrontational but instead opts for negotiation, and he’s generally seen helping around the house, he is the complete opposite of Roy and that’s what is desirable about him. Also going back to the fact that Dot isn’t stereotypically masculine only reacting to threats as opposed to being aggressive you can see how aggression is portrayed as an undesirable thing, something to fight against. I think this show along with Everything Everywhere All At Once are two pieces of media that make strides in the way masculinity is depicted, showing the ugly ways that masculinity is perceived by the majority of people painting aggression as being protective, being commanding as being proactive, or just straight up painting positive traits men could take on as feminine or “beta” when in reality everything is about balance

While there was several connections to the film fargo, I haven't heard anything about the connections and references to no country for old men. Especially the final scene, which was literally the scene where Javier Bardems character kills John Brolins wife. But turned on its head and the killer actually chooses to ignore the so called "code" he lived by. And was free because of it.

Roy and Munch and Lorraine were old testament--an eye for an eye. Dot turns out to be new testament--forgive me my trespasses as I forgive others who trespass against me. She even gives Munch the equivalent of communion (bIsquick style) and redeems him.

Absolutely loved this season (in fact, I've loved them all). Only one tiny niggle and that was Juno Temple's and (to a lesser degree) Jennifer Jason Leigh's nose and upper lip area. They both looked like something out of the Grinch who stole Christmas. The first couple of episodes I kept asking myself "Is that really odd make up?" or were they both involved in the same Plastic Surgery disaster?

This season was amazing..I didn’t even mind the on the nose “MESSAGE” moments…but my only problem is Wytt… his character end kind made his whole storyline pointless. Like I get the whole debt message so he came back to save Dot but idk I just feel like the face offs he had with both antagonists were leading to ….Something. Kinda went out like a chomp.. which makes all those moments he takes the high road, taking in all the racial digs and whatnot less of a “ he is calculated and is gonna strike when the time is right” to more of a “ oh no he was just always kinda a b!tvh” 😂😅 which kinda annoying.. like if they were gonna do that they could’ve left out the racial undertones
