In the Jaguar house pictures. The one of the aquarium, you can see a rope on the left wall; that’s where the sloth live, they have zero barriers and just climb around above guests.
The monorail was in the process of being demolished at the start of the year as it didn’t cover half the zoo!

Went to Chester Zoo when holidaying in Southport. Took family(2 kids). Fantastic day but ruined it due to time we got there and weather. Zoo was pretty dead too due to time of year we visited. BUT One of the best zoos I have been in. Now I have Planet Zoo I am going to try and mimic this zoo's layout best I can with my limited playing skills at PZ.

I've been a member of chester zoo all my life it's an amazing zoo which I never get bored of visiting :) best design I love from it is the sloths inside the jaguar's house. They have rope above the guests pathway so the sloths are above your head :)

Next one should be (I can’t remember the name) but it’s a zoo in the Uk and you can drive through the paddocks with lions,rhinos,zebras so on and so forth

Please do the Nordens Ark and Borås Djurpark, both are swedish zoos that I've worked at.

Were Jaguires confirmed?

One of the zoo shows on Animal Planet that I like to watch is the one about the Chester Zoo. It's odd to see it from a guests point of view because the show is all behind the scenes. I didn't realize how large or how beautiful it is.

The Realm of the red ape, is actually just the newer house, the old house is all off show (with the offshow outside being the one with the wooden fence). Inside realm of the red ape is 3 indoor areas, and 4 outdoor areas, two netted within the building) and two large un-netted (west and north as per the zoo map). The other outdoor enclosure, was a mixed babirusa and Asian short-clawed otter. Inside they also have several birds and reptile exhibits.

Lastly the monorail is due to taken out, ready for the new savannah grasslands area around the painted dogs.


Tropical realm is a rather dated enclosure now, it used to be home to gorillas (which where eastern lowland gorillas the only ones in captivity), also the chimps indoor housing used to be there until they built there new house.

There is a monorail system in the Zoo Miami. It is the only zoo I have been to that I had to rent a bike in to get around.

That intro song was perfect. It's a cold day here and your video definitely fit. Question for you: How prevalent are overlooks in modern zoos? The Planet Zoo trailer showed them in spades but to be honest I've never seen one in real life. I imagine you could almost build an entire zoo with walkways above only.

That Southeast Asia area looks really cool! Reminds me of one of London Zoo's newer attractions, which I'm sure you'll like to explore when you cover that one. They have a simulated indian village wish asian lions and other animals, and the setting includes some little houses full of domestic decor, a little market, I think even a small fake train station, and posters everywhere which combine the casual indian atmosphere with actual educational info. I had never seen something so tematic and storytelling-focused before I went there, and the indian theme in PZ is perfect to replicate what they did.
