How to Setup a Patreon Account to Make More Money

Great video and a lot of sensible advice. When do you think is the right time to start a patreon. I have about 300 subs, I think its too early to think of patreon now, maybe at 5k subs or 10k ?

Yup, 100% agree. The per update model can work if you clearly spell out the parameters. I think having as many as four distinct tiers could work, but some people go overboard. If you're a visual artist, I highly recommend you follow One Fantastic Week- I think Pete Mohrbachr's onto a lot of solid ideas for creatives! He's talked about revamping his Angelarium Patreon and I'm looking forward to studying what he does.

So guilty of these things you mentioned. Re-writing my patreon right now to a low cost single level. Enjoy supporting you here and on Patreon!

Hey, Brian G Johnson. Your Patreon Page sounds great. Thinking about what people are interested in and what they want is always key. They won't buy your apples if they wanted to eat some cookies. That kind of remember my of a thing Sony tried to do a few months ago. Was playing some games and then received a mail from Sony. Normally they would try to sell games and console and stuff. But this time they forgot they are a entertainment company and tried to sell HAMBURGERS instead. Can't play games while eating hamburgers. Its a really bad combination. Gaming requires a focus mind and for that you need healthy food. Was kind of a really silly thing to do.

Thanks Brian, I couldn't agree more. I was so not happy with my Patreon page, but I went and made the changes as you suggested. It's more about adding value to their lives and solving their problems. It's way less confusing now for new people when they arrive.

Great info, Brian! At the end of the day, it is all about sales, isn't it? That being the case, what kinds of rewards would you suggest for someone who does how-to and/or explainer videos?

This is down the road for me, but your take makes more sense to me. I've watched a couple videos where they recommend the exact opposite.

The reason people start a pay per creation Patreon is also because viewers have subscription fatigue. It’s one more subscription. It seems you can, as patron , also choose what the maximum money is you want to pay per month. So they can set a limit.

The absolute reverse advice was given on Video Creators channel with the interview with Peter Hollens.
