I've been at a constant back and forth between this and one of the Giulia trims, they're both really great vehicles and I could see why anybody would go with either of them, Giulia especially, it does have that cool X-Factor of being a great alternative to the usual German equipment. Though, despite all that I've found myself within the Acura camp nowadays. I figure it goes beyond the usual reliability that befalls that particular make, seeing as the more recent Giulias are the most solid vehicles that brand has made in recent memory. I believe the styling and its handling characteristics are something I've become fond of more than the typical RWD sedan has for the time being. It's no exaggeration to say that in the usual road use, and even 7-8/10ths on autocross-courses, it really feels like magic. Inputs feel very intuitive, and when you're hunkered down on a highway cruise or bumper to bumper traffic, it's downright pleasant to spend time in, that with the superior sound system, and comparable in-cabin refinement. To me, it's got that right mix of being a fun daily, and a good canyon carver. I'll save the 10/10ths for whatever cool sports car will come by next from them, or just get a Miata lmao
As for the Integra Type-S, I deeply admire the styling on that vehicle as well, and that shifter is the best of anything I've ever spent time in too, but I can't help but come away with the sensation that the TLX just feels more 'substantial' to me, but who knows, I might end up with that too, they're both great choices as sport sedans, fulfilling their niches quite well if you ask me.
I’d rather have a Honda Civic interior/tech. This price $60k plus) is insane for a Honda. The only thing going for the TLX is that Honda completely nerfed the Accord so there really is no alternative for the TLX for diehard Honda cultists. It’s not a premium vehicle or luxury. Its build quality and materials are not there. I’m sincere when I saw I’d rather have the Civic interior
Ответитьif it had a manuel option i would buy
ОтветитьThis should have so much better fuel economy for the power it makes and so much more interior space for how it looks. Acura needs to learn from the B58.
ОтветитьI don't think it IS an enthusiast product. I think it's a product aimed at regular people who fancy themselves enthusiasts. You know the type: They're amazed at how fast your normal daily is...because they've never been in your actual fast car. My wife thinks her 2008 335i is SMOKING fast - she is literally afraid to push the throttle pedal all the way down - because her usual frame of reference is a Honda Pilot.
ОтветитьWho will be the first manufacturer to build a new sound technology to increase MPG without adding another Gear?
ОтветитьThis is a pretty substantial video that substantially increased my already substantial knowledge of the substantial improvements made to the Type-S's substantial brochure. ❤️
ОтветитьThe ZF9 was garbage. Having leased an MDX with that transmission, and then having moved into an RDX with their 10-speed, it was night and day. I still believe 10 gears are too many, but it's still way better than the ZF9 ever was. On another note, I had a 1st Gen TLX 4 Cylinder and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission was fantastic... and I so wish they had kept it.
ОтветитьRight, for those of us who want a touchscreen infotainment and six speed manual, it's not for us!
ОтветитьJust buy a Mazda instead of this overpriced trash.
ОтветитьAcura doesn't compete with bmw, or Audi. They've always been made for honda owners that want a little bit more.
Ответить3 Series are everywhere. A4’s as well. G70 is very subdued like the Germans. In a sea of boring looking cars, the TLX Type S stands out and gets attention in ways no other competitor does.
It’s a car that turns heads, gets attention and compliments. Plus it also represents a tremendous value & impressive driving dynamics. The interiors are almost like art and it’s enjoyable to be in.
I think the design, uniqueness & driving characteristics are enough for me to pick it over the competition.
What are some of the "issues of that brand" when speaking of Genesis and the G70? I'm curious. I'm a Honda guy and think I know what he's speaking of but I want to know for sure.
ОтветитьAlternatively, the Integra Type S is a great handling car, but the styling totally failed with me. It looks like a female car with screwed on wider fenders. The tail was forced to look agressive. The TLX does have styling but it is a very heavy car and it ruins it. 300 pounds lighter and it would have been great.
ОтветитьDefinitely a good looking sedan
ОтветитьWas getting tired of seeing suv/crossovers all the time…
Ответить99% of cars sold are to get owners back and forth to work. 99.99% of 4 door sedans will never see a race track. I lol when you guys talk about people tracking their cars.
Ответитьcool song transitioning to final thoughts
ОтветитьI think you nailed it in Final Thoughts. You buy this car if you love Acuras or Japanese sports sedans, or you're budget conscious (like me). Even though this is slower than its European rivals, I would probably buy a Type S over a 340i or S4. It's cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain, and may depreciate less and have a higher resale value in several years when I'm ready for another new car. That being said, I can see the driving experience is more rewarding in its rivals, but it's not like this is a boring econobox either.
I just checked, and at the three closest Acura dealers to me here in NE Ohio, there are six brand new 2023 TLX Type S' on their lots. These aren't flying off the lots, and the fact there are this many sitting locally may not bode well for the refreshed 2024 model.
I should mention I am somewhat biased. My wife and I have owned several Hondas and one Acura. I came close to buying a new Integra A-Spec 6MT a couple times, and sometimes wish I had. I test drove a TLX A-Spec once and really liked it, too. I can see buying one in the future.
I love the sedan segment, I have always a huge fan of the station wagon and the big sedans because arguably this is enough for the average Joe that is buying the SUV/overlander to go to Walmart.
ОтветитьJack needs to travel to Europe and Asia to see what other vehicles are like and leave his box.
ОтветитьAs a customer I don't care about track numbers or 0 to 60 performance I just want a sport sedan can put a big smile on my face and comfortable to set in with decent sound system
ОтветитьI would realistically replace my 6-speed TSX with a TLX type-s, but no manual option kills this car for me. I’m a dinosaur I still LOVE shifting my own gears.
ОтветитьHmm. What about Subaru Legacy? Isn't closer as a competitor?
ОтветитьNeed this in a 6spd Manual....🤬🤬🤬🤬
ОтветитьReminds me of Holden Commodore / Chevrolet SS Interior
ОтветитьWish Acura didn't axe the RL/RLX after they turned it into such a dud to where no one bought them. And had no idea there were issues with the Genisis brand or G70 in particular, if that's what he meant. Anyone aware of this that could provide more info???
ОтветитьNeeds 400hp
ОтветитьNot a TRX 😂 or a LC 500 ?😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьThis car would be absolutely perfect if it had 50 more hp and weighed 500-800lbs less. Nevertheless, I still like it
ОтветитьWhere is Turbowski?
ОтветитьI'm confused how Acura got the Integra Type-S so right but this one not so much. Granted, it's a good car. A very good car. But it should be great and it can be great. It's just too heavy, it's underpowered, needs a bit more room inside, and a better transmission. One immediate fix that they can look at is giving it at least 400hp. The V-6 in the NSX had sufficient power so why not use a version of that engine. Then it really will be a transformed car.
Ответитьsweet ride, but i'll never get used to that clear coated primer look! most horrible paint color ever 😏
Ответить"...We recently reviewed the 2021 Acura TLX Type S, a direct competitor of the CT5-V, and it doesn't seem to deliver the same level of soul-stirring enjoyment that the CT5-V does. That's partly because the Cadillac has 51 additional lb-ft of torque versus the Type S, but also because the Acura also feels heavier and less enthusiastic about in its movements..." Motor Trend
ОтветитьTesla FTW, boo to Acura~ 😜
ОтветитьHaving worked for the Acura service department for 12 years. I heard of thousands of complaints since the TLX was released. That did not change with the refresh. The brand is slowly losing ground to other manufacturers. TLX owners are mostly older dudes who don't care about real-life performance. They care about the voucher and paper performance. Plus, not to mention the constant complaints of erratic transmission behavior...oh and a few blown up tranafer cases in less than 10k miles. Never would buy. Even the NSX was sort of a flop in the modern world.
ОтветитьI can understand maybe 45k but it’s too overpriced and under powered for 60k+ out the door.
ОтветитьI plan on picking up a used Type-S this year to replace my previous gen TLX. I would agree with both Jack and Mark opinions on it. It’s not as luxurious as a Lexus or Mercedes and it’s not as sporty as a Cadillac or BMW but I think it’s a good middle ground car. I rarely drive my car to the extreme, I’m usually sitting in traffic and maybe I’ll hit a backroad with like 4 curves. A car like this is perfect in my use case, I just have my spouse to carry around so the lack of backseat space doesn’t bother me as well.
I wish Acura would’ve at least bumped it up to 400hp or cut some weight but I’d be satisfied with this car despite these setbacks.
I think the stinger or a g70 might be a better option.
Ответитьwhat a beauty 😊
ОтветитьWhat a rip off! $60,000 and you get a small seat, underpowered, loud, and terrible MPG.
ОтветитьAs an acura enthusiast, you are totally based in your assessment.
ОтветитьI dont know why post 2010 Honda forgot how to make a center stack and filled it with whacky button sizes and placement. Looks like an art project
ОтветитьSo, wait... If you spend more, you get more? Hmm. Who knew.
ОтветитьI have a black 2021. I wish it was a manual, that’s pretty much my only complaint.
ОтветитьMan, you sound like whatever on this interview, believe me I'm with you really couldn't get into this car since they drop the TL and TSX.
Ответить
