ASUS Zephyrus M16 (2023) Review - New & Improved!

Only 5000 dollars in canada, what a steal!

Hi there, I need some advice on two Asus laptops. I am looking at the M16 and the Strix G18 but cannot decide which one I should go for. I am not a gamer and will be using the laptop for 3D animation and editing. The M16 has the i9 13900H cpu and the G18 has the 13980HX cpu, so the G18 is much more powerful and has the 18" screen. My biggest concern though is choosing option that is the most reliable has the best build quality as I have had endless hardware issues with my Asus Zephyrus 16 to the point where I had to return it for a refund after experiencing 4 breakdowns in only 3 months!
So...I am looking for something powerful but simpler in design with less that can fail/break. I'm also not a big fan of the RGB bar lighting so a simpler design would be great, but I also don't want to sacrifice a huge jump in performance with the G18 if it justifies the higher spec.
Which model can you recommend the most between Asus M16 vs Strix G18?

I bought this laptop and tbh it gets very hot that you can’t touch the keyboard. I’m still thinking about returning it

Can someone answer me this one question… The 13900H CPU theoretically supports 96gb of RAM this Laptop according to Asus supports up to 64gb being that intel list it can support 96gb of RAM can I install that in this laptop?

70 C air temp hitting the screen is terrible…cannot justify this as it will harm the life and quality of the mini led display and unglue the panel cor the display

Any trick on installing the RAM? I merely opened the back panel on mine and put it back on after checking the RAM slots and now the battery light indicator remains on even when the machine is off. Not asking you to solve this issue. Just wondering if there is some clear mistake that could be made here. Have already exchanged the laptop so no worries, but now I am afraid to open the new one to install another RAM stick. Thanks for your help if you get to this one.

I’ve bought the zephyrus m16 from Best Buy (1x16gb version) and I want to upgrade the ram(not because it’s not working well just because I could use the extra boost coming with duel channel both in gaming and multi tasking)and I wanted to ask few questions if you don’t mind, first of all do I need both ram to be the same?(meaning by the same is that both are same gb and same model if you understand what I mean, if you don’t pls let me know{no disrespect in any means}), 2nd question: in best Buy in “specs” it says that the screen is led and 2560,1440 and I checked and all the models of the zephyrus m16 (2023) comes with 2560,1600 mini led so it’s either false what they wrote or that it’s actually different screen(if you don’t know it’s completely fine I just want a professional to tell me it’s ok so I could calm down.) Hi Jarrod! If you could get the 4070 m16 for $1500, would you get that over the 4080 g14? I would prefer the smaller g14 size and better performance but finding it hard to know if that's worth the $1000 difference.

Does the M16 comes in a 15 inch laptop's form factor? So from the outside it looks like a 15 incher?

Might pull the trigger on this laptop. it's 1500 new on Best buy, been wanting an upgrade for my 2021 G14 Zephyrus, especially since i could use a bigger screen.

The price is crazy... But I think I won't change it for the next 5 - 7 or even more years

For anyone in the US, the 4070 Zephyrus M16 does not have the mini led display, apparently only the international variants with a 4070 have it. In the US, 4080 and up have it, but not the 4070

For the money you're spending as an on the go work, business and play laptop 70/30 work/play you are better off getting Legion Pro 5i and new AMD 7745HX cpu version is $50 cheaper usually and a bit better on battery.. And get something like a discounted 2022 smaller laptop like G14 w/6800S or thin and light with integrated gpu if you want extreme battery life.

Enjoying this laptop for some time now.
I wish I had a 18" version of it with much better cooling.
Comparing it to an actual desktop, I don't consider this a desktop replacement.
But it's a great travel companion for longer trips.

i though intel 13900H is a beast untill7940HS stepped in .

I recently purchased the 2022 flow x16 with amd cpu and rtx3060 on sale for $1200 at bestbuy (now it'sbeing sold at $2000). Today they have the m16 is on sale for $1600 and I'm wondering if I should return the x16 for the m16. Is the m16 worth the extra $400?

I'm confused. You mentioned this has the Mini LED display but ASUS says the mini led comes only on the 4080 and 4090 models?

Hey, guys! Did anyone buy noOS version? I bought GU604VI and after OS installation my sound as quiet as in this review in linux. Only twitters works, woofers doesn't. No metter what I do (installed any kind of drivers\software). Thinking of giving this laptop back to seller.

Quite annoying it's impossible to get a 16" laptop with a 4080 and 7940HS from Asus. Have to drop down to the G14 to get the superior 7940HS.
I bought the M16 anyway since 14" is too small for me but man, I really wish it didn't have the 13900H and all the heat that puts out...

i just got mine with the same specs besides the 32gb ram, but I was a little frightened by how hot the laptop cpu actually got just by running simple games. i was curious and touched the space above the keyboard and it was pretty hot but i figured that its kind of normal

Did anyone replace their RAM cards on this machine? If so, like Jarrod mentioned you can replace the original (16GB RAM) and upgrade 2 faster RAM cards?! Can someone please confirm if this is possible? Cheers!

Hello, I hope someone can answer my question, I am concerned that the air outlet directly on the screen, will it not have any repercussions on the screen in the long term due to how hot it can be?

What is the difference betwine G16 2023 and the M16 2023?!

hey, I have this exact same laptop but my CPU performance seems to be lacking. My cinebench score with a single run (no minimum time) is 17166. I'm on turbo mode with nothing running in the background. the temperature also maxes out playing even just league of legends. I wonder if there is a factory defect with the liquid metal application? i'm also running it with the IETS laptop cooler on max cooling.
