After shooting with the 18-55 f/2.8 on my xt5 for the last month, I too am a firm lover of the 28mm focal length, great video! 🙌
ОтветитьHES BACK AND HIS CHAIN IS CHAINING MORE THAN EVER 😮💨😮💨😮💨
ОтветитьI have a Lumix GX9 and can never decide between the Leica 15mm (30mm eq) or the Olympus 17 (34mm eq) but then they’re both tiny so I usually take both (plus a 50mm eq) and then in May I bought a Fujifilm X-pro 3 and that’s paired with the WR 23mm . . . . Just to mess things up 😂
ОтветитьHahaha funny that you upload this video now that I have just bought a Ricoh GRIII a few days ago 😀 Perfect timing for me.
ОтветитьHello Doriyan,
Thank you and congrats for that nice video and for the beautiful photographs. 28mm is by far my prefered focal length as well. Which 28 do you use?
28 is definitely in my top 3. I don't really like 35 or 50 and I'd rather get around with a wide but not super wide like a 28 and a short tele like a 75-135. I'm not really much of a candid street photographer but I love portraiture with a 28 and I love that you mentioned the qualities of this approach. Personality in place. A 28 is perfect.
A tip for fellow APSC users who might want to try this. I love my ultra cheap ttartisan 17mm f1.4 as a 28(ish). It's pretty small. It's got that fast f1.4 for when you need it (which I do) although it's not the sharpest or most contrasty at that aperture - though that doesn't bother me. But for a lot of street, you're at f5.6 in APSC where it's sharp and contrasty, and you're zone focusing so the lack of autofocus is irrelevant on a wide lens.
28mm is very tempting, I was actually yesterday contemplating on starting to shoot more with that focal length.
ОтветитьI love 28mm for everyday use especially for street photography. That’s why I got an Elmarit 28 😂
ОтветитьDoriyan doing the things as usual🔥
ОтветитьI love these videos. The sharing of information is always something I’m looking for. I find that you share and offer suggestions of things one can try without selling me anything. Keep ‘em coming. The “finding my style” is something I struggle with. I’m not struggling with what or how I want to shoot… I think it’s more of figuring out how to put it into words.
ОтветитьMore food for thought, thanks. Shooting the streets back around the middle of last century (late 1960's, early 1970's) in London, my go to lens was the 28mm, and though I use a short zoom these days it's interesting how often it stops around 28mm. Thanks for posting.
Ответитьi use 28mm for 7 years, started with ricoh gr, then fuji x70, perfect for street, documentation, and family. i tried 35mm and 50mm but always go back to 28mm. and Deerosa is right, 28mm is the king for street
Ответитьany lens/camera would be ok . cuz Street Photography is easy
ОтветитьSolid!!! Well explained in the first few min, like your concise style. Curious to get your thoughts on 50 and 85 mm FFrame focal length use cases for streeet NOT obvious portraits
ОтветитьSo good! I’ve been a 35 person for ages, but I’ve definitely been warming up to 28 in the last year since getting the xf18. I find myself surprised by how much I’m using it, getting along with it. Makes a great companion with a 50 (33) too. Love your work as always, I really appreciated how you broke down some of your compositions, that’s such gold.
Ответитьawesome video bro..actually now checked your video and realised i shot a street portrait on 28mm today...28mm is getting used to but i feel my next photo walk gonna be 28mm.i feel 80 or 85 mm does get anxious..usually 35 40 or 50...great vid n kudos my good man
Ответитьyour channel is probably one of my favorites for street, you definitely should be bigger! i have been shooting for 16years+ and i know the things you are teaching people but you give such a great presentation and your work is quite wonderful so it brings me back time and time again! there are so many channels out there that talk a good game but don't actually produce any work of substance! keep killing it.
Ответитьi am a True "50mm" shooter, but i have done quite a bit of shooting with true "35" and true "75", i am contemplating getting the 12mm 7artisians cinema lens which is a true "18" which i have never shot that wide before. Only time and money will tell.
Ответитьright on kiddo 40 and 28 my 2 fav, I also encourage you to try the sigma 65 F2
ОтветитьFantastic Dorian - I love this focal length as much as you. My eyes sees the whole scene of my urban landscape. The 28mm is perfect for capturing that and getting in close for intimate details. I normally work with two X-T1 paired with the 18mm F2 and the other the 35mm 1.5. That’s a formidable set up for shooting in London. Great video, love your channel. Cheers Mike
Ответитьok now I'm gong to shoot with my 28mm.
ОтветитьTorn between 16 mm and 23 mm fuji.....24 vs 35 equivalents. Time will tell. Great vid.
ОтветитьWhich one you love 35mm a month ago or 28mm a week later?
Ответитьlovely video again Doriyan, yep 28 is grEight
ОтветитьJust terrific, lovely video. Here's to the amazing 28!
ОтветитьMy grandfather passed away before I was born and just recently my sister found his Nikon F2 without a lens attached. My sister gave it to me expecting that I would sell it (she knows I could use the money) but I decided against it. I had it restored and the guy that fixed the camera only had one type of lens that could be mounted on the body and it was a 28mm f2.8. I took it because he was selling it to me for way less than if i'd bought one online, and I trust this man. He's a legend in the community where I'm from. Some of my friends then told me that I should've waited until I found a cheap 35mm lens online so that kind of made me regret getting the 28mm. Since this is literally my first experience with photography outside using a smart phone, that did affect my excitement with the hobby quite negatively. Of course I did a ton of research before getting into this, but your video gave me the encouragement I didn't know I needed and it seems you've just made me excited again. I really appreciate this.
ОтветитьSubscribing! Your videos are refreshing, sneaky humor and informative. Agree with a lot of your points here!
ОтветитьI use the X70 for travel and it's a little wide at 18mm (28mm equiv). But I found cropping it generally 1:1 for street/people and then going back to 16:9 for architectural/landscape works very well. With the 1:1 and people I do have to get in close but zone focusing 1.5-2m and f8 does the trick. I can generally snap away and get a usable picture and waist level with a tilt screen changes the aspect enough to make a very interesting pic.
ОтветитьAwesome video and narration, Doriyan. I am considering purchasing the Nikon Z - 28mm lens. Thank for sharing your insights.
ОтветитьDope!
ОтветитьWhat do you think of viltrox 27 1.2?
ОтветитьBeautiful. Really liked it. Also the fact to see more people of color doing videos like that. (Im white as sheet of paper 😂😂)
ОтветитьI've been challenging myself to shoot solely on my Fuji 16mm 1.4 for one year. On the crop sensor that gives me a 24mm FOV. My question is: how different is that from 28mm really?
I've been very much enjoying the challenge of working with such a wide angle lens.
Love your videos!
it's just the way people were sitting. Why overstate it
