Russia had a 5-1 advantage of manpower and months to prepare exploding trenches, tank traps, to pre-sight kill zones for mortar, rocket and artillery fire and have the advantage of air superiority where needed. It also never helped that the whole world knew a "counteroffensive" was in the works months before it began.

$200 billion wasted for nothing.20% of Ukraine still belongs to Russia. 10 million Ukrainians still left the country. Ukraine economy still down by 50%. And they achieved nothing. So sick seeing our tax payers money being wasted like this. Don't even wanna hear anything about Ukraine.

The whole thing is a Greek tragedy and Roman farce all in one. 'Handbags war', soldiers stoically waiting for the political disfunctionality to stop.

It’s a crime the way western leaders have slowed the supplies of weapons to Ukraine. If they had the supplies needed at the beginning they would have won by now. Shame on western leaders.

If Ukraine looses this war, the world better prepare for a much worse war. WWII took the lives of 60+ million people, about 3% of the world population. Nowadays the same percentage today would mean 237 million human lives, mostly in European territory. I hope politicians don't make the same mistakes as leaders at the beginning of the last century.

Any military specialist knew in advance that the so-called counteroffensive was doomed to failure. If this caused surprise to TV viewers, then the blame should be placed on information garbage dumps like DW, which talked about military successes of Ukraine that never happened.

The West, but most of all Germany, had reverse decade of eastward energy and trade policy in hope of a successful economic shock to Russia leading to quick collapse and regime change. Had that been successful all the malaise would be for Russia and benefits to Germany. As the economic war failed, Germany suffers the malaise and Russia the growth.

All this concern about Ukraine winning in the front is to say this economic malaise (recession, deindustrialisation) has been worth it. If Ukraine fails militarily, Germany's economic setbacks would have been for nothing. German govt elites simply gambled and lost. German citizens are paying daily. It explains the unpopularity of the ruling coalition.

Stalemate??? The Russians are advancing on five different areas of the front. The Ukrainians have shot off almost all of their artillery shells and are desperately trying to hold on. The Russians have over 2 million artillery shells, 2000+ new and upgraded tanks, 1.3 million troops and they are arming the drones with thermobaric warheads. Its going to get really bad. I am guessing the collapse of the Ukrainian lines any day now. SMH

Why is this narrative strangely lopsided or is it the title? in all this you realize this country has paid the price in blood while the rest in kind, support, money & weapons? The whole world did not even think they would survive the 1st week, now we call this a setback!? The US has floundered & squandered more with nothing to show in various wars & engagements! The fact that they held out this far is outstanding!

In less than 5 years, AI is the capability that wins all wars 😆, because once we rebuild intellect, it deals with the complexity of war just like us. but without getting tired. this is happening even if google / openai are lost in their efforts. This problem now has serious scientific attention. You need to be a little unreasonable for that kind of creative thought, unlike the dear commenter in the video.

I feel like we've discussed this endlessly: thick minefield, no air superiority, no element of surprise. Can we finally move on to what is next for Ukraine and what they need? The Ukrainians are staunch defenders and we need to be its staunch allies if we want them to survive. Because we would, without a doubt, be next. Russia hasn't grown out of its empire phase.
