Gregg Allman ain't no 6'1" that I can tell you 5'5" at best!
How do I know this? I worked the stage at the Colorado State Fair in the 80's featuring the very Hammond B3 and songwriter Gregg Allman himself.

You've done an outstanding job here. Very impressive. I was very surprised by Roger Daltrey coming in at 5'6. He seemed so much smaller seeing him on stage back in the '70's. I guess it was Townshend and Entwistle being much taller that gave the impression. It's hard to pick favorites from so many great vocalists, but two of mine are Robert Plant and Rick Davies. Thank you for taking the time to make this interesting vid.

Unless you saw him live, it is probably hard to believe that SRV is so short. He played with so much power it made him seem enormous.

I always thought that Bill Medley was rather tall. But he's not so tall. Very surprised.

A lot of them are below ground level so not tall at all.

I think that people whose growth years were the 1930s-1940s ate much less protein...much less, period. Evidence of this is the height of Japanese increasing with more protein in their diet. Additionally, Great Britain was under rationing well into the 1950s.
The other thing I'd point out is that many of the singers shown here that are below average height are Jewish, and Jewish people as a whole tend to be shorter.

Seriously , I met Joe Jackson on the street in NYC in the 1980s . NO WAY was he 6 ft 4" !! I'm 5 11" and he did NOT tower over me. Also , I would have gone back and told people "Holy sh!t, he's REALLY tall". WTF ????

You should have put all their young pics. Some of the pics of the older ages are not as tall anymore. Gravity starts taking over as posture's fade. You can shrink in height quite a bit.

Who is Bob Hite? Why is he amongst these giants? Tom Waits, really? There are a few that don't belong on here ad classic. Gary Numan, Chris Deburgh only had 1 hit each. Cars and The lady in red, respectively.

It’s funny how our perception of people can be so off. So many of these singers are much shorter than I imagined. I had no idea how small Prince was. Also, I was certain Barry Gibb was way over 6’ tall. I was very surprised to find out that he’s only 5’11”.

This was fascinating and I can see how much work it took! Can Neil Diamond actually be 6 feet? I loved the diversity of the artists! VERY well done!!

Ray Benson still ranks among the tallest musicians in the world today. His closest competition, height-wise, is Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, and Toby Keith, who are all around the 6'5" mark, and Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx, who's about 6' 8" tall.
