Just proves I was right when I left apple products in 2008 and will never go back
ОтветитьQuizas se podria instalar HelloSystem(FreeBSD) Desktop ,FreeBSD o quizas NetBSD que son los primos cercanos de MacOS X Server
ОтветитьWhen I was in highschool I went into the IT guys office to ask him some question, and he had two Xserve units sitting there. I asked what they were doing with them, and he said they upgraded so these were getting thrown away. I was like "Well can I have them?" and he said "Technically since its school property, I cant give them to you, however I can throw them away when you get out of class and if you happen to take them home with you thats none of my business"
Ответитьomg why didn't this just have this "I Bought the Last One Apple Ever Made... - Apple XServe 3,1 Server" title initially? the "apple's mac can't do this" is not as appealing at all
ОтветитьI believe you can change the system date in recovery to make the server think the certificate was valid. Also you don’t need to run the el capitan installer to make a usb bootable drive of it. There is a page on the Apple support that gives you command line to create the usb on any modern mac.
ОтветитьWow that’s a cool computer! I want an Xserve now.
ОтветитьWhen you say "Mac OS" you mean "Mac OS/X Server" The server version of OS/X has added extractors with server functions and installed slightly different way.
ОтветитьWhen I worked at a MSP, one of my clients had a Mac Pro server doing their AD and all their serving needs. They were 100% my favorite client, super easy to manage their server, and it didn't feel like I was on a "server OS" like your typical windows server (never worked on linux servers unfortunately), that looks pretty intimidating for a level 1 tech support barely making US$13/hr, they just felt like I was sitting in front of a regular ol mac, doing mac things.
Such a shame they discontinued it, but I can see why for sure.
Please do a part two
ОтветитьBack in the early 2000's a company I worked for got a bunch of Apple XServe G4 and later G5 models. I remember they used to suffer from a "smiling" issue where if you didn't reassemble them using the screws in the proper order with the right torque, the cases would sag (like a smile) and you'd have trouble closing them up when mounted in a rack. Good times.
ОтветитьAt my school the other day I was helping the teacher with printer and needed drivers off a server and I look at the name and it says SCHOOLNAME-XSERVE ( with a cool icon ). It runs printing server (paper cut mf if wondering), networked storage and active directory ( even if there is not 5 pc’s in the school lol ). Denied access ( yes p/word and user typed right ) and I realised they were retiring the ol boy after walking past the server to get to reception. Will miss ya bud. All the memories that I had fixing you instead of the tech guy cause he didn’t know what he was doing. RIP X-SERVE.
ОтветитьI have to say, doing all of that to install a software update sounds exactly like Apple. I had a phase where I wanted to own all of the old Apple Hardware; everything is a pain in the rear to reuse or update.
ОтветитьYou could’ve installed Catalina with the DosDude Patcher.
Ответить😅have complete components (excluding hdd) 3 xserve 4 xserve RAID, separately ≈ 40 HDD (few unpacked) + extra unpacked components/controllers + Fibre Channels + OSX Server CD
ОтветитьEverything Apple makes should be forgotten.
ОтветитьMe saque de onda de onda por el audio en espaniol, estuve buscando la pestania que estuviera sonando. Aunque sea Avisen antes de meternoslo directo.
ОтветитьOh this throws me back. Mac OS X server was honestly a fantastic, reliable product - as long as you stayed within the bounds. Think Synology DSM - lots of fabulous tools that worked well, open source at the core, but with a GUI that made it easy. Especially when Mac did not nicely integrate into Windows Networks and Active Directory: Open Directory, Apple’s alternative, had a specific mode that let it integrate as a middleman between the two so Macs could fully integrate but still have proper management and support. It was very slick, and worked well - it just never got the attention it deserved, and once Microsoft got better at multi-platform support it didn’t make a ton of sense for Apple to keep supporting it.
ОтветитьI have a 3,1 and a pair of fully populated xRaid.
Ответитьlast video with an intro
ОтветитьLooks like Linus didn't find the solution I spent hours searching for. If you hold command+shift+r when booting, instead of just command+r, it will use your current internet recovery to download the latest version of internet recovery available for your device, and let you install the latest available OS that way.
ОтветитьWe had so many mac pro servers at school that they were throwing out needless to say made sure 20 cheese grater pros got homes
Ответитьoh the joys of open directory....
ОтветитьThere for awhile I was really interested in buying one to run a few Minecraft servers off it. But I didn’t have a server rack back then. I would’ve opted out for one but unfortunately they quit making them.
ОтветитьLinus with a Renault shirt smh
ОтветитьApple now federates through Apple ID. Everything is going cloud. You can't even run a local outlook exchange. Security in enterprise is better managed by a corp. My company runs federated macs inside the Azure AD environment, allowing us to easily federate the Apple user to any device while benefiting from the Azure AD functions. It's rather nice.
Ответитьomg the audio track thing is working now and since this is my school account it's in spanish damn it man I gotta turn off a stupid robot talking in spanish every time I wanna watch a video now so annoying
Ответить"daddy"
ОтветитьMy Phone has more RAM lmao
ОтветитьWOHOOOO POTUGUESE DUB
ОтветитьI hate apple but this isn't bad at all
ОтветитьBetween 2003 to 2020 I had Mail and Web services hosted with Apples Server software. Could drive you crazy sometimes because of the limitations, but I have often hoped that they should have put some effort in it – macOS Server could have been really awesome!
ОтветитьI have been able to create bootable USB drives for older systems on my M1 Mac. There might be differences with the server software though…
ОтветитьI bet my old school used these
ОтветитьMaaaan, I had a rack full of these things working IT in a media production house. I personally hated them, but I'm willing to concede that's because I had (still kinda have) an irritational dislike for all Apple things. It pains me to admit it, but they were a damn good product.
Good (begrudging) nostalgia vibes from this one.
I think they had their own Port-Number for Admin purpouses
a sub 100 Port Number
Crazy
Why do people keep accepting this from Apple again and again and again.. is just plain insanity.
Everyone should stop praising Apple and discontinue promoting it everywhere.
Basically CrApple stuff... It just works (NOT)
ОтветитьOh man if only yall knew how AWS does mac servers hahaha
ОтветитьYeah, of course you did….
ОтветитьWe used to have one at work. It ran some windows server inside a vm I think but would crash and couldn’t fix without restarting the whole server. The final death mail was the company that supported it only had two staff and they refused to work outside business hours for any support or maintenance. My boss a Big Mac fan loved the indexing of files on the server. Also the battery on raid card died
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьDo the gaming Apple server!
ОтветитьSoooo, why buy Apple?
ОтветитьFriends don't let friends buy Apple.
ОтветитьI would love to se an upfollowing of this lovely beast ❤️🥰
