For the current scenario Sales team also will be getting the share of IT data instead of sales data share

Unfortunately PPTP is not safe anymore, not even a little. Also you left out all the security measures. I wouldn't suggest using your domain and file server as a public VPN server at all. If there is any zero-day you're entire server is immediately compromized and so is all the data stored on it. That is why you should always use a seperate remote-access (VPN) solution preferably with 2FA.
