I liked the part where you took digs at her work for “reinforcing stereotypes” so no one in the comments could criticize YOU for not doing it. True academic courage right there.
ОтветитьWhich was the book she won her sister's bet with though? Was it The Murder of Roger Ackroyd? That one is brilliant
ОтветитьThe murder of Roger Ackroyd will forever hold a special place in my heart. It is the kind of book that makes me wosh it is possible to momentarily forget a story, just so I can experience the act of reading and discovering it once again.
ОтветитьCompliments to the animation team doing this video. Thank you!❤
ОтветитьI think I heard once that one of the reasons she did two-dimensional characters was because when she did more fleshed-out characters in (The Mysterious Affair At Styles) people either figured it out too easily or claimed that another character made better sense as the killer. Also, I believe it was more work and time-consuming. Instead keeping things simple and the whole less is more philosophy clearly sold more books.
ОтветитьTwo dimensional people? She gave the best descriptions of psychopaths ever. The charming young man, the kid that murders because it wants something, the CEOs, the nice tomboy girl. The false confession also there. Some books are a study in psychology.
ОтветитьI like Christie for the same reason I play match 3 games on my phone. To distract from real life.
Her writing has no depth although her sense of humour often shows through. I have always found her racism and classism unpleasant. Later books became boring. Very samey.
But along with Sayers et al these moneyed women had the contacts to get published and the time and leisure to write.
They were not cleaning, cooking, nappy changing, washing clothes all day either for their own families or people like Christie.
But neither were they afforded the privilged education that men of their era had which gave us some great novelists like Green and Waugh.
You forgot to add author MAX STRAVAGAR he's the William Shakespeare of our times!
ОтветитьMy family loved the Poirot and Marple tv series! 📺 I watched them with my family. Good memories. ❤️
ОтветитьSeriously?! You people are now digging out their secret writing recipes and revealing to everyone.❤
ОтветитьBy now we can ask chatGPT
ОтветитьBrilliant! For the love of all of us writers, please continue this series.👍
ОтветитьSpite is an incredible motivator
ОтветитьI really love christie 🥺🫶
ОтветитьWho are you to say: "Agatha Cristi got it wrong"? Your prejudices are not hers or mine.
ОтветитьBest selling doesn't always mean good, though.
Ответитьi love miss marple more than Poirot
Ответитьted-ed can you do terry pratchett's discworld next🥺🥺
ОтветитьVast spans have passed. Ten springs...yet yester evening it is. The Sun is waning...and there dwell we! Amid the mulberry trees, upon the green grass, wind caressing us, her hair gracing my face. I smell her fragrance now. How may I forget her? By what cause does one cease to think of their essence, the source of their being? Every passing moment, I perceive her. Her unearthly beauty, an eternal blooming flower, how the moon rises through her grace, how her melodic laugh causes spiritual awakenings in sages, how I attain the prime paradise of merriment by embracing her, I perceive each of these moments. In our faith, the ultimate purpose is salvation. Enlightened beings sunder from the sorrows of the world and merge unto the Supreme. Yet I seek not such enlightenment. My salvation is she only. To abide with her eternally, that is the bliss I desire.
This is a dialogue I wrote for a tragedy I'm developing. It concerns a man who after losing his lover has sworn an oath to defeat the God of Death and bring his lover back. Here specifically he is remembering her on the eve of a battle.
Was it nice? Can I hope to write a masterpiece someday? Also criticisms are welcome 🖤
Thanks for spoiling Five Little Pigs for me... I am still halfway through that book🥶🤣😢
ОтветитьThis might be the sign to start reading Agatha Christie. I only know Murder on the Orient Express from the movie (which from what I know is adapted a bit differently)
ОтветитьAgatha Christi novels were my favourite during college days, these were available in translated version in Malayalam, thanks to my friend Venu chettan who had the entire collection. Congratulations to Ananthu for bringing these memories back, best wishes
ОтветитьAgatha Christie is a crime Queen
ОтветитьThanks and pay Please
ОтветитьHow to write like Agatha Christie:
Step 1. Have a sibling rivalry....
Obrigado!
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьI feel proud of myself that I can pinpoint which books the examples are from
ОтветитьIm just a reader, but now i know why i like the story lol
ОтветитьHi! I love you channel and have question for you:
Can you make, please, vid about Shirley Jackson? She is my favorite author)
(Sorry for bad English)
Harry Potter is the bestselling book of all time. All potterheads leave a like.
ОтветитьRian Johnson be like:
ОтветитьPretty sure Bibble and Quran is the best selling book
ОтветитьI'm sorry, Jazus is the best-selling of all time. Have you ever thought about how many bibles have been sold? 😅
ОтветитьMadge on her way to make agatha so mad that she becomes a bestselling author: I’ve won, but at what cost?
Ответить"Best selling" should be two words in this case.
ОтветитьGoodness I love her so so much
ОтветитьI wud like to call Dan Brown as her descendant when it comes to story telling..... the part where the readers think that they have found the culprit but later understand their assumptions were wrong.
ОтветитьI love how far the woke part of the video, Ted Ed shows the books burning. Ironically quite self-aware.
ОтветитьMy mom read every one of her novels several times over!
ОтветитьJust remember that every sentence and descriptions in her stories are indispensable.
ОтветитьI like her because people who die is always people of wealth. I don't care about poor people dying, it's a dime and dozen in the real world.
ОтветитьNice video.
ОтветитьKing James theologist is the best selling author of all time. The scenario in this video is untrue.
Ответитьstill not better than Jules Verne.
ОтветитьIt is a bit of a mystery how most of Christie's books on Goodreads are below the hallowed 4.00 rating average. At least there her books are underrated and not overrated. The handful of Sophie Hannah books, written with the blessing of the Agatha Christie estate, prove that Christie was a genius and most writers, including Hannah are not as good as the former.
Just try to read the Monogram Murders a new Poirot mystery to see how easy Christie made writing look.
I’m one of those people that loved her plots but hated her writing style
