Compound | PSVR2 REVIEW

I love this game but imo its sad that games like this Ancient Dungeon and other low poly type games are the most high quality games that VR can produce. What i mean is, they have very little bugs, run smooth, no jank, and have VR in mind for every interaction in gameplay. Imo VR is in the PS2 stage where some games try to push through and break barriers but only a few stand out as the best and these types of games, although they are great, make VR less interesting for flat screen gamers to give VR a try

One of the major problems with PSVR2 is a complete lack of VR "experiences".
What is does get, however, is a seemingly never-ending supply of games that are little more than running around & shooting stuff.
Over and over again.

So I'm picking this up based on your review brother

Bought Compound first thing in the morning, before even my first sip of coffee.

We really need Systemshock in vr. Something fully vr ready, not just a mod.

Are there absolutely no trophies or "just" no platinum? Because I couldn't find that game on PSNProfiles. No trophies would be a no go for me.

The lack of any elevation in the environments seems like a big missed opportunity. Instead of levels like DOOM or Quake, they feel more like Wolfenstein 3D which makes the game feel 2 dimensional, it also makes the sections feel almost the same besides textures. It’s a game that really doesn’t benefit that much from being in VR at least in terms of playability. If the level pieces were more varied, with elevation and hazards like DOOM and less like Wolfenstein I think this game would hold up better against other roguelikes. It’s still super impressive it’s made by one person so it’s hard to complain too much

i was obsessed with this game on quest i been waiting for this since i heard it was coming to psvr2 i forget where actually but the developer commented something somewhere last year and i asked him if it would ever come to psvr2 and he was like i would love that, deff happy for him and im 100% buying it 💯

Compound does not have trophy support at all. I checked it out.

Not for me right now, but on the eventually list. There are so many quality VR games that I can't keep up. I've always had it in the back of my mind that VR will eventually burn out, but now I'm not so sure. Low budget, high quality games just keep on coming. I'd probably prefer a non-roguelike version of this type of game and someone is probably working on one right now.

Price point, comparing synapse with this great one, if I had to pick one or the other, synapse on sale wins. But variety is great. This game looks good. Short. One boss.

Already got this on quest fun game for sure Sony needs to get in the ball and drop some first part stuff asap !!! Got of war VR??? Uncharted??? Last of us ??? Spiderman ?? Come on Sony wtf lol

i can do with retro inspired graphics. but the retro like sound are too much for me

Bry ive been following you from day one_im one of those who's been fascinated since the PSVR Best Buy store demo in 2015
parole always been the most hi IQ refined_unbiased source of all things PSVR_and now that Sony has expanded into PC realm
dont be too strict about staying PS console niche_consider opening up to the UEVR mod side & Sony may bring PC games too

Would love it if it was a linear 50 level doom type game. But it isn’t, so another pass for me. Unless it’s half price. 😉

Spot on review. Matches how I have felt about the PC version so I'm looking forward to picking up this version next weekend.

The biggest gripe I have with it in my hour and a half of playing is that there's no smooth-turning option. There's only snap-turning and physical turn-your-whole-body which isn't conducive for standing or sitting in place

There's a mutator that makes it auto-reload. It made it a lot easier to reload when I had multiple weapons I was carrying

I think the jetpack guy on medium is considered a mini boss

Which is the best roguelite on Psvr2 so far?

Wish it had a height adjustment to sit and play and be taller than 3 feet tall.

Decided to take the plunge on a PSVR2 after selling my Quest 2 recently and I can tell that Compound is going to be one of my first games for it

The most fun part is dodging bullets in real life, take your thumbs of the sticks and step to the side or crouch in real life and feel like John Wick. Also you can warp around the map by bringing your right hand to your map display and point your finger and press the trigger to warp handy for getting back to the elevator.

Dude I cannot even beat the game on medium haha do you have any tips for the final boss? The helicopter is whooping my ass - please help Bryan :) I’m really liking the game
