While I agree Russ vs magnus needs to happen. I think story/release schedule wise. It will be Russ vs fulgrim. Considering guliman fought magnus and mortarion. And the lion fought angron upon their return. I believe it will be a show down of the two swordsmen fulgrim vs Russ.

i could see it going with russ talking over the vox and them getting bjorn back awake just to have bjorn shouting at russ "WELL COME BACK YOU WET SLIP OF A WHORES RUN OFF" and just verbally laying in to russ just to hear the wolf laugh back

Of course, this is predicated on Russ even returning as....himself. We're lulled into complacency from Guilliman and El Johnson returning, for the most part, as themselves. We've already seen Corax undergo some pretty intense changes, what if Russ shows up and is some sort of feral wolf/force of nature? We don't know where he's been, what he's been doing, or if he's ok. He could return and be stark raving wild.

IDE love it if we could somehow get the dark angles and the Lion getting up too some shenanigans with a contingent of space wolves being partly led by Bjorn. Only for Magnus to unveil a scheme to destroy both the dark angles entirely and the world spirit of Fenris in Bjorn. Only to be saved last minute by an one eyed ancient Russ

Russ would have grown. His physic power would have heightened. Valdors might will probably be the only way russ will be brought back. The lion and the wolf were dauntless. Them together would be really be the push back the imperium has to create. Guilliman focusing on the logistics, legal and now godly matters. Russ would see bjorn first. The true brothers in arms. Then straight to the big E. Wherever he is he is trapped. Even on a good day chaos has a hard time pushing russ. Only magnus could really contend a pissed off russ and space wolf legion. I think corax and russ have a great common standing. Russ hiting another brother woukd be beyond hin now. Hes gonna come back a beast. The only one that was his equal is the lion. Russ just landed on fenris and made mates with his beasts. All the primarchs now are executioners. He will be the last primarch to come back. Hes just too powerful to bring back now. If bjorn and russ dont meet ill boycot GW for life. Lol.

Russ or Vulkan should humble Guilliman and bring the First Born back to the fore. Enough with the primaris.

I am one to imagine that we may not see Russ immediately take on the Thousand Sons whenever GW has his return campaign.

One reason? The 40K rematches of the Primarchs has seen them tangle with Brothers we had not really seen conflict between. Guilliman vs. Mortarian. The Lion vs. Angron. Each of these matchups also showcase a mirroring of character traits too:
Roboute stared around at the results of 10,000 years of his actions and did not succumb to despair. He strapped on his big kid pants and went to work. Mortarion gave in to despair and has hated himself for it ever since. The Khan ABSOLUTELY nailed Mortarion’s character with his most epic of burns, “I am tougher than you.”
The Lion is a character where anger and rage always lived close to his heart. His anger at being questioned for his loyalty and his anger at feeling betrayed cost him 10,000 years of action and a chance to save his father. Fast forward to the 42nd Millennium and we have a Lion who actually knows how to temper his rage. He knows that he cannot hide anger behind a chivalric code, he has to put that anger in its’ proper place. Angron? Well, I mean, it is in his very name. He was made a slave in childhood, then claims to be made a slave of his father, only to become forced into the slavery of Khorne. Only unlike his attempt at becoming free on Nuceria, he’s lost in his self loathing and fear.

That would say to me that Russ would likely face off against a brother that is a mirror of what Leman had to learn for his own growth. Personally, I’d live to see it be Lorgar. If Leman did go a more Odin-like route, then showcasing his deeper understanding of myth-as-metaphor vs. blind zealous devotion would be interesting.

The interaction between the Two alone could set and shape the future of the setting,
right now nothing really has changed other than Papa Smurf to fortify his Empire,
and the Lion doing a 'Legion of the Damned' Stlye shadow walk here and there to spank some traitors.

The greatest face-off between Magnus and a Space Wolf was with Lukas the Trickster at the end of Ashes of Prospero.

I think Russ will be found by Baldur from Jarnhammer Pack after his departure in The Helwinter Gate.

Ok, this is a bit off the wall and way out on a limb that is about to break off Yggdrassil, so take it with a grain of salt.

Baldur has just seen shadowy wolf figures for the third time that are trying to lead him down a different path from the rest of Jarnhammer Pack.

He decides to leave the Pack, says his goodbyes, and disappears into the webway with a mission to return the soulstone of the dead Aeldari to the Aeldari homeworld. He also seems to hear something or someone calling to him.

In The Lion, El'Jonson book Lion in the Forest hears a beast, like a wolf, howling in the mist.

What if the wolf shadows that are leading Baldur thru the Webway are also guiding him to Russ, and Baldur's redemption comes when he finds Russ and brings him back to Fenris?

I want to see Russ and the Lions reunion sitting around a table with some ale making up for being wannker when they were young reminiscing about old times and catching up. Gee Dub better not turn the Space Wolves into furries like the turned Blood Angels into vampires. They are space vikings with a wolf theme!

Hell yeah I wanna see a rematch between the good boi king and Magnus, so the damned bully can be put into his place by the red king already.

If there's one more question based off patterns we've seen forming so far, I'd ask which bit of wargear might Russ get from the Emperor? Of course Guilliman got the sword (somehow or other haha) and the Lion got his shield from a quest of sorts.

Yeah, whatever happens, a confrontation with Magnus seems like the obvious choice, not to say for sure it will. Bear in mind, Guilliman fought Magnus and later Mortarion - all the 40k primarch models then available - and got trolled by Fulgrim. Of course Fulgrim and Lorgar might seem the most obvious choices for Guilliman to rematch, but the lore hasn't gone that way, at least not yet. Then of course the Lion returned and promptly battled Angron.

Again, that matchup has a strong link to the latest primarch models, and the same seems highly likely to happen if/when Russ returns. By that logic my best guess is he may have to fight Fulgrim, perhaps an undivided primarch later, or maybe even Vashtorr

my thoughts would the resurrection of the chapter, as he would go accross the sector, recruiting and finding new aspirants for his chapter, giving the middle finger to guillimans old plan, and instead, turn to what he wants to finish, like the vikings of old, he has gone bitter, but wiser. raiding thousands of world with his new chapter, while training new soldiers as well, seeing how the empire has gone weak in his wake.

like the idea of not just astartese, but millions of guardsman TRAINED by astartese, but not just any but SPACE WOLF ASTARTESE, with their insane rituals and praactises, sound like a new cadia legion to me. and this could already have happened, after the fall of cadia, as whispers come through the halls, of the heroisme of the space wofs during this campaign, ever since, they have been recruiting more and more, putting the fingers on the inquisition, but whenever they go and look, nothing is found of any heresy, as if they acted like they always have, but in truth, they have just dialed up their sneakiness, hidiing themselves far better.

I love to see a new imperial guard, with the ferocity of the space wolfs. maybe they were created, because this way, the wolfs can attack, and then they can clean things up, recruit and colonise the planet, and send any aspiring applicants to the space wolfs. this army, overseen by space wolfs themselves. a large campagin, hidden from the imperium themselves. in the end, this can bring some good story in the long term.

more space wolfs, could mean more wars in the future, when a new tyranid war hits their sector. imagine the space wolfs RECRUITING TYRANITS AS PETS IN THEIR ARMY. imagine a imperial guard with caught tyranids, like in starcraft with mensk.

the quest for glory, as more battles come, each want to prove themselves again and again, unable to stop, even by their own primarch, it delves deeper into the wolf and what to do.

it might also count the end for the space wolfs, maybe going ALMOST extinct as they hurl themselves against the tyranids,

Idk man I think space wolves are supposed to be handling the orks currently don't think that's gonna go well didn't exactly go so great the first time so if we want russs to return in a year or so it's gotta be during that and I doubt he'd be the same old russ probably gonna return looking like Odin

Bjorn and Russ are a must! You mentioned this years ago in a video that you would think Bjorn would lay Russ out for leaving him behind. That would be awesome especially if he did so after Russ saves him from being killed by Magnus after a epic monumental duel, “ Bjorn was broken, his sarcophagus cracked, melta cannon arm ripped away but still standing defiantly against the demon Sorcerer Primarch Magnus. He raised his power claw, the same claw that gave him his moniker of fell-handed and knowing this was his end hereleased a howl from his vox speakers that echoed across the battlefield and time and space itself. As Magnus stalked in a chill wind blasted across the plains of reborn Prospero and with it an answering howl that was heard by every combatant on the planet and in the space above. A slash in reality appeared between Bjorn and Magnus as if a large blade had sliced through the fabric seperating this world from the next and out blasted a winter gale that only those who grew up on Fenris could comprehend. The wind, snow and sleet buffered the battlefield driving the thousand sons and there demon Allie’s from there feet while invigorating the wolves, awakening the beast that slept within the heart of them all and filling them with new raw primal energy! Magnus alone withstood this blizzard taking it full on and only pulling his wings in close around his body to show it affected him at all. Just as suddenly as it started the storm broke and a hush filled the battlefield to be replaced with growls as from the portal wolves, one grey as wracked storm skies the other black as night stepped through, both were the size of Elephants of old Earth, able to look the Gigantic Magnus in the eye without looking up. They Flanked the portal on either side while placing themselves between Magnus and Bjorn. For the wolf king, the lord of winter and war, primarch of the vulka fenryka, Lemann of the Russ had returned!!!”

Magnus has destroyed one of Bjorn legs... the cyclope is ready to strike, Bjorn, defiant till the end tell him he is lucky he doesn't have a mouth anymore, or he would spit on him.... Magnus rise his weapon for the killing strike when the fenrisian wind break into the room, an impossibilities, because this room is beep into the deep level of the fang... Magnus looks around, almost puzled... and then he sees it, the Balenight sword, Mjolnar wielded by his nemesis, Lemn Russ.. Russ: "fellhanded, are you ok" now we see something never seen before: Bjorn at a loss of word.. a few seconds passes, while Russ move into combat distances... "y.. y..es my liege" and Russ "good" with the word that turn into a growl, while he jump to strike his lost brother...

Russ laying out his brother is exactly what I would expect Russ to do, followed by giving him a hand up & embracing.
I am really curious if Russ has been active for so long will he come back alone, & how will the time, & the Warp have changed him.

I want to see him, wiser and kinder, trying to make amends with Magnus. Maybe having you kill the diamond primarch and capturing his damaged soul, hoping to gather the shards of his soul to try and redeem him.

Id like to see the novel start off in an Aeldari ship or craft world where they have a monster in stasis, and intend to use him to assault some chaos instalation in an effort to locate one of their relics, or mythical swords. Russ is that monster set loose upon the instalation to allow for the Aeldari to achieve their goals and give those limey space elves a little more lore, but then also to have Russ call to his brothers from that location and draw them in for the hunt.

Grimnar falls. Ragnar leads the wolves in their last stand and just as all seems lost , Russ shows up with the 13th and Ragnar's old buddy bulevye

Bjorn should punch russ in the face when they first meet. 'What took you so long'?

I for one want to see his reaction when he learns how Ragnar lost his spear. Hearing that the young pup effectively put Magnus’s eye out with it would surely cause Russ to shake the halls of the Fang with laughter. 🐺

I hope the Wolves are a little dissapointed by Rus' return. Theyve grown wiser and more noble over time, and I think they would be a little put off by the vanity and bloodlust of Rus for the sake of bloodlust. I think a FASCINATING story would be Rus being called to grow as a person by his legion, his legion saving Rus rather than the other way around.

What about the meeting with Logan Grimnar? I mean, while still loyal to him, dude's been taking care of his fricking legion and dealing with so much s***t while our primarch went for his sudden vacation without leaving a note.

I really would like him back though, don't get me wrong.

I want magnus to show up on fenris not knowing russ there. Only for russ and ragnar to go "round 2?"

From many of the interactions written between Russ and Bjorn. Bjorn was the only Wolf who Russ ever dropped his mask and sho0w his doubts etc.
Which always confused the hell out of Bjorn. Why me just why. Kind of how Bjorn felt afterwards.
