about that shortening the words, some of the non-mandarin communities outside china also did that for hung gar, wing chun, bak mei etc. at least decades ago when i met some of them :)

ОтветитьVery good explanation, and eminently practical. I also like how you always point out how many concepts in one internal style can be applied to the other styles, because as you mentioned the human body is a particular system and martial arts are simply ways to train that system to function in a fight. So there will be many commonalities between styles, if those styles are actually dedicated to effective martial application.
ОтветитьHello, sorry that this is off topic, but I need to ask... Could you please give us a demonstration of all 12 silk reeling methods... Im practically banging my head against a wall trying to find out on my own... Please & thank you
ОтветитьThe waist is the axle & the axis for all movement.
For the hands to move the body must move first.
For the body to move, the waist must move first.
While changing the palms the hand turns like a wheel.
Your movement will thus be agile and continuous.
Twist in a spiral as you circle (waist) hips should be positioned so that they are pointing along the circumference of the circle
while the waist should turn slightly in towards the centre making the shoulders twist in to the centre elbows should twist
I would like more of your content to include the internal/ body transformation that occurs if one learns the neigong part of the arts. While power development and generation differ in each of the internal arts much of the internal training ( neigong based on standing , dan tien formation and qi building, tissue and sinew development)is the same. If one develops the internal body, ( taijji steel wrapped in cotton, bagua dragon body, shaolin iron shirt) the body changes DRAMATICALLY and the external manifestation of the art changes. Much more movement inside, much less outside. The reason I bring this up as regards your proverb teaching, is that at a a higher level when the body is “ full” in bagua or in peng in taiji , the physical ability to twist the body externally becomes more limited, where the extreme twisting is no longer possible.. If the body continues to be able to twist to high degree, I maintain this is just external movement and flexibility, not true internal body/ power development. Just using centrifugal force if beginners level
I don’t mean any disrespect, only another opinion you may consider to explore
always impressively detailed
