Hey Chaps! Would you go iPad or Surface?? (or neither)!

The iPad is held back by the software so much, I traded my iPad for a Surface and am far happier for productivity. It‘s sad because the processor and battery life was great.

I think Apple needs to port the Mac OS to an iPad , instead of developing iPad OS

The M1 I pad pros{11inch} or {12.9inch} came out in 2021.{3rd gen I pad pros came out in 2021}.

Poor battery life is the number disadvantage for windows devices, this combined with poor quality screen basically keep it out of the entertainment tablet space. That being said, I don't know about what 'pros'' can really do with ipad, it's is a complete NO for developers

For me: Apple M2 MacBook Air and a Microsoft Surface Pro 9 LTE.

Both run full desktop OS, best of all worlds.

I’ve never understood how anyone can even consider the iPad as choice for a computer. It’s literally is just a bigger iPhone. Meanwhile the surface is actually an iPad that has all the ports and functionality of every laptop.

i can tell the refresh rate on the surface is at 60hz which is not a fair comparison ive seen little tricks by other reviewers to degrade the Surfaces true functionality. like turning the brightness down on the surface while the iPad's brightness is blasting at max cant take reviews here at face value

Both extremely frustrating devices. The iPad has no file manager, no decent paint app and no cursor when you plug in a mouse (just a grey blob). It could easily be so much more. Windows 11 meanwhile has an awkward presentation, it’s user unfriendly, it ranges from overly complicated to overly simplistic, the applications are poor, it has two settings menus, it’s vastly inferior to every previous version of Windows. Most of the Surface’s problems could be solved by downgrading to Windows 10.

I’m on the iPad Pro 2018. It’s lasted and is my daily driver for sitting with a coffee for an hour before work and taking to work. I do have a gargantuan 4090 PC I dropped and broke my Apple Pencil. And it got me thinking about just moving to surface pro 9. Or maybe 10/X. Would you say the screen on the surface pro 9 is on par with 2018 ipad pro? As I find that perfectly fine. I would love to run full fat Cubase 12 on the go.

I always thought that using windows laptops and tablets where bad because Microsoft didn’t Taylor the software with the hardware like Apple do but owning both Microsoft tablets and laptops I thought who are building these? Chimpanzees?? Honestly why can’t Microsoft get it right? For a multi billion dollar company you would of thought they would of at least tried 🤦🏻‍♂️

I mostly use tablet for education, note taking and preparing maths lectures and tasks for my students, sharing as pdf, which is much more easier by handwriting. Therefore I use iPad - there is a bigger choice of apps. But surface pro is more laptop and has better flexibility and supports desktop versions of apps. I don’t use my laptop much so I wouldn’t pay that much for it. My Acer with intel 3 8th gen, 1TB HDD and 256 gigs SSD satisfy all my laptop needs

are you sure your result for surface pro 9 in geekbench is correct? I have surface pro 9 17 with 16 gig of ram and my score in geekbench is this:

for productivity you cant beat the surface pro 9 ... but there might be a solution for the Ipad ...connect via VNC to a rasberry pi (or similar device) and enjoy Linux on the go :))

Used or open box Surface Pro 9's go for much higher prices than the equivalent spec'ed iPad Pro M2's. So I'd say the market thinks Surface Pro's are more valuable.

people will stop buying Ipad the day windows started shipping with a powerfull arm chips.

The ipad is a gadget.
The Surface Pro 9 is a working tablet.

Those are not even comparable. Surface is a full on desktop experience while Ipad is a jumbo sized iphone with hardly any usecases.

Microsoft has best hardware engineers, but software engineers has ruined the result🥲

Im a windows kinda person, love the fluidity n' optimization of Apple but I just think Apple's all about the surface. We can all say we miss the Lumia (if only our guys in Microsoft didn't give up so easily)

iOS Excel is nerfed. It's a mobile app. That's the biggest reason not to use iOS.

I traded in my iPad Pro 12.9” for the new surface pro 9 the Intel version in blue and I am so much more happier with the performance of the surface Pro! Apple needs to take the iPad to the next level!

You can see Windows lagging all the time, the buttons are super small... for me, iPad wins...

Does anyone else thinks that the Surface 9 camera looked better than the Ipad camera (despite the reviewer claiming otherwise), I saw a flicker and the sharpness was lot less than surface camera

Hi, Please help me for choosing the 2in 1. Actually my purpose is to this 2 in 1. I'm a freelancer graphic designer. I love to do digital art, branding & video editing. I have a high range PC but when i was traveling so i'm not able to work or i'm not able to do any digital art because mouse will take time. so i just want to take the tablet cum laptop. i'm getting confused because i'm window user, so if i'm go with apple then i'm not able to borrow the adobe software because i can't expand too much. Another side, i'm not confident in surface pro stylus as compare with apple stylus. So lease suggest me the best one option.

Surface is a better device, minus many streaming services that don't have apps or are able to download. My iPad is used ONLY to watch movies on plane when I travel or One Note for woodworking. Window is a more productive platform for 'real' use casese.

I hate that my surface pro 8 gets soooo Hot that you barely cant Held it in hands, even normal browsing in Web. and when I use actively Lightroom on my surface 8 pro the battery is empty after 1 hour. it sucks so much. dont know why the device gets soo Hot. same Problem was with my old surface pro 4.

If you already have a laptop, none of these two devices should be in your radar for purchase. Unnecessary purchase when you already own a laptop.

Why do they even make the comparison videos? Apple is always better. It all comes down to how much one can spend.

Seem the compression on the surface is compared to an actual computer rather then a tablet in many of the surface reviews. Just got myself go 3 and I'm blown away to have a mini portable computer with touch. I did have one time a touch computer from Asus back 2014 and wished it was smaller in size and now the future is here. If I do compare the surface with a computer it outperform my low end chromebook. Just use it too browse the Internet as intended but on the surface you got the PC experience on a tablet on the go. Can't praise enough how excellent Microsoft done the work for the generation of mini laptops that seemed like a far dream to have in 2009.
