As a firewood guy it hurt seeing the bigger trees getting chipped but the smaller stuff would be a dream

You need to use a herbicide along that fence anyway... it'll kill the stumps that may grow back. Sprayers are affordable if you shop around and it will make life easier if you spray 6-10 feet on either side of the fence. And they tend to make two passes when there are rocks and uneven ground. The knives for the mulcher are really expensive. I recently cleared 7 acres that was overgrown with privet. It was expensive, but saved me years of fighting with that invasive tree.

Hey! I was wondering if you could give me some more info on the forestry mulcher? I just got 21 acres and want to open up space to create pastures for animals in the future and wondering if the forestry mulcher is the best tool for this. I’m also located in NC as well.

If we don't know what we don't know, then we google it, or ask others, in your case, other farmers, then we become informed about what to do.

I had no idea these even existed but it's exactly what I need to hire for my property, which is foothills woodland made up of scrub oaks and manzanita. I want to clear out some of the more overgrown sections, and I can't do it by myself. Thanks for the revelation!

I'm clearing land that use to be cattle pasture, it has 2 ponds in this area so it was well fertilized high moisture level full sun and 20+ years of nobody being back there. When I first started I couldn't even see the gate 20' tall willow trees 5 or 6 rows deep with tall brush mixed in. A chainsaw and brush blade on a weed eater is what I have been using over the last 2 years. I took most of the fence down since most of the posts were broken at the ground poison ivy that had almost 2" in diameter vines and it ran in and out of the fencing so that was time consuming, and it's still everywhere. I have cut around our first pond and can actually see the other pond but I have my neighbors fence I need to be careful with while I'm cutting trees down next to it. I'm at the most difficult part now which is a massive wall of vegetation that's so thick I cannot even crawl through it and it's all held together by poison ivy. I call them pond willow trees because I only see them grow in high moisture areas next to ponds they get really tall but not very round and there are very few branches so they are very easy to cut and not heavy but they grow very close together. I will cut 1 down but it will just stand there because poison ivy is holding it up because it's all wrapped around multiple trees, so I'll cut the next 1 down and it stays standing so I just move on and keep cutting until they all fall, 5 trees it took me to finally get the first 1 along with the other 4 trees to fall with it. This wall of vegetation goes for about 60 to 70 yards and I notice there are some actual big trees that are not willows further into my jungle. I have 4 massive piles of Trees, bushes, and stumps I need to start burning but it's been really dry here in Illinois where I am anyway and all the stuff I've been cutting is fresh alive stuff so it's got to dry for awhile before I can burn it. I made a 20'x20' drive through burn pit that is full and ready to go, I should put a sign out front that says free firewood you cut, you load , you go

Cheaper alternative to a side by side, I bought a old school Toyota pickup 4x4 single cab and feel I can do much more heavy duty shit than with a side by side. Not as fun but definitely a great alternative at 1/4 the price. I found me a good one for 5k.

I would definitely spray the path/road that he cleared out, with 41% glyphosate mixed with 2-4D. It will keep all unwanted grasses and woody browse at bay, instead of using your mower all the time.
