super !!!!!!!
ОтветитьWow, a 3 thousend dollar dust pan. This is something to inherit. Your patience and precision is amazing. I learned a lot. Thank you and best greetings from Germany.
ОтветитьI love the 100 little tricks and bits of knowledge he has gained over years of experience like the masking tape ns working in 4x scale for accuracy
ОтветитьGentleman all my respect. I haven't seen such nice handmade parts since I left my stepdad's shop over 30 years ago, we fabricated automobile body parts just like Mr Covell, because it was very hard to come buy new parts. We made our templates out steel because we had to fabricate lots of same parts over and over. I'm watching Tony's channel now I found a new one subscribed
ОтветитьA true master. I just 3-D print the part with a flange built in to clamp to the metal. A way better technique. No chipboard, sanding cardboard templates etc.
Ответитьwhat sander do you use?
ОтветитьTHAT has to be The Worlds Most Expensive Dustpan !!! It sure is a beauty though ...
ОтветитьThats over engineering somthing² !
Not necessary at all!!!
But if it gives You joy to you ok!
In real life, thats somthing for a very delicate pice of machinery like a rocket engines.
But for a dust pan, this is also just fine! ☺
Ron...when I saw Tony with that Dust Pan on his Channel, I though to myself, how on earth did Ron fabricate that! Now I know!! Great Video Ron...I Learned A Ton!!!
ОтветитьI've never done or seen any of this craft before in my life. That mold work is just magic. So much respect. I could never have figured that out
ОтветитьMan craftsman don’t exist hardly anymore, I’m a pipe welder and learn everything I can like this people my age don’t have the patience to learn things like this they want instant gratification these days or they don’t want it at all. Glad I found your channel
Ответитьimpressive
ОтветитьThat is WAY too nice to be used as a dustpan!
ОтветитьRolls Royce of dustpans
ОтветитьThis is gold. Clean dust-free gold.
I have so many ideas now.
i loved this video. i did notice that you don't wear gloves when you weld the aluminium. funny thing is i only noticed once you were done. i saw the evidence of this when i noticed one of you hands is visibly quite red as though sun burnt. well maybe not that red but still the uv coming off the arc has certainly done some work on it. i'm not criticizing mind you, just mentioning that gloves provide more than just heat protection. it's aluminum so burning your self on it is less likely but still. i remember some long time ago i sat in on a welding class at the tech school where i learned machining and computer repair as well as got my CCNA certifications. i remembered that they mentioned why a full face welding helmet is preferred over simple goggles. and that was due to uv burns. please do take care of your self. I'm sure you know all about what im saying and this is more directed at the super pale folks with fair skin like me. again loved the video and thank you for spending your time with us! you're a treasure!
ОтветитьYou are a great master!
ОтветитьMagic
ОтветитьAt least it wasn’t a ‘flash in the pan’
ОтветитьThat is a dustpan that you can be truly proud of. What a beautiful handle!
ОтветитьAs a professional pattern maker, I can tell you that your way of creating a radius is really good. I just have one pro tip for you:
When you multiply your radius by 0.57 (0.6 does the trick for radii under 1/2") you instantly have the measure for your first chamfer. Mark this measure, the end of the radius and the middle of the chamfer when it's there, and make sure your lines don't disappear under the sander. When you sand the rest away feel with your hand and closed eyes. If it feels good, it is close to good. For checking, lay your straight edge along the radius. Sand away the high points, and you're mostly good. Of course, it is always good to practice on a scrap piece. But this is easy to learn. Keep up the good work, Ron 👍
Edit: I forgot to mention, the 0.6 rule of thumb only works for edges that are close to 90°. Outside 88°~92° the template is the only precise way to go. And, of course, this short cut doesn't work for bigger radii.
Not a computer in sight good old fashioned workmanship I like it 10/10 for sure no router
ОтветитьNever mind that this is teaching useful skills that can be applied elsewhere. Sometimes it's just fun to make things for the sheer joy of making them. I've found that's a mindset you either understand or you don't.
I've spent weeks making things that I could just go to the store and buy for cheap... but it's not about having the thing, it's about making the thing. I enjoy the process and the journey... the final result isn't the point.
Well this really panned out didn't it.
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьLo importante no es la pala si no el polvo que se hace durante el proceso (para tener algo que limpiar cuando la termines). Hablando en serio, hice muchas piezas cuya única función era aprender a usar una maquina herramienta.
Ответитьwow amazing work and skills :) Glad I found your channel :)
ОтветитьNow all you have to do is find customers who want $300.00 dust pans. As ridiculous as that sounds, those customers are out there.
ОтветитьI love your masking tape tricks and your obvious skill and knowledge. I've been binge watching Tony for a few days and I'm glad that's led me here.
Ответить感心して見ているだけで楽しくまります!
Ответитьthat is by far the best dusty dashboard fluff bunny removing object I have ever seen, what a cool way to show the umpteen building techniques traditional and modern smushing together seamlessly.....I bet you cant make a brush to go with it... ;0)
ОтветитьI like it. Congratulations
ОтветитьAnybody wondering why you’d make a dustpan from scratch like this has no soul
Ответитьtrue master, will be watching all ur videos.
ОтветитьDang TOT was right your a wizard with sheet metal
ОтветитьCame here from TOT to see a dustpan handle installed...all I can say is WOW! Liked all 3 vids and subscribed.
ОтветитьAnd I thought my dust pan was high faluten
ОтветитьUsing the masking tape to establish lines to form the radius is rather ingenious, I think I've got as much out of these videos in techniques in drawing up as in working the metal, although that's pretty top notch as well. This whole project turned out great, you've got a custom made pan with a custom made handle!
ОтветитьI thought final assembled dustpan is 3D render
ОтветитьFirst time viewer, but I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this guy's done this kinda stuff at least... 4 times. Maybe add a zero or three.
ОтветитьGorgeous work thank for the tutorial 😊
ОтветитьIt's dust perfect.!
ОтветитьI hear you and "This Old Tony" mention viewers asking why make a dustpan when you can just go buy one. The way I see it, it is not the dustpan...it is the techniques and process to make the dust pan which can be used in other applications. It is the techniques and the process which are being demonstrated which are more valuable and the key points of your awesome videos. I believe those limiting their thinking to just the dustpan should be open and learn the techniques used. Once this is done I believe they will get the Ah Ha moment.
Please continue your awesome videos. They are of great value. Thank you for posting.
That series was amazing. So much passion and talented craftsmanship. Nice work, I will have to try this out one day
ОтветитьExcelente, gracias por compartir tus conocimientos amigo, saludos desde Perú.
ОтветитьI know I'm 2 years late, but the amount of skill and finesse displayed here is absolutely inspirational. Thank you for recording this series, I look forward to watching more of your content!
ОтветитьHi ron...i normally hang around the other side of TOT's bench.... which in turn has lead me to you.....hope you've got space for one more student eager to learn from another true master of his trade.... hats off to you sir..... much love from the uk 🇬🇧
ОтветитьVery good
ОтветитьLove the skill. Has anybody tried to 3D print the hammer form out of TPU or PETG or NYLON ? Don´t get me wrong it takes real skill to work with wood like that and all but having 3D printing today this could be faster and easier done probably.
