After spending 80 hours playing ff 16 I legitimately believe that it's not top 10 of the year material let alone a goty contender. Thank god I got bg3 after I finished it.

My favorite thing about AC6....NG+. I'm on my second play through. And things have changed. Alliances are different. New missions. New parts. I'm loving it. And from what i understand
NG++ is even more different. I can't wait.

This no actual hate. Just my honest opinion. I actually found RE4 very boring. The world felt very dry and desolate and I wasn't able to get me immersed in it at all. Sometimes being a regular guy in a big open world can be immersive, but RE4 just did not have that affect with me. There was no pull for me to explore the world and do the little extra things. I made it 6hrs in so I don't know if that's enough time or not. I think I got it out of FOMO and it might just not be for me

2023 was a legendary gaming year

I fucking loathed Lethal Company. It was like the Among Us craze which I also hated.

Tears of the Kingdom was my game of the year 2023. Such a innovative game and fun game.

failing to mention that spiderman 2 has one of the worst ending ....has ton of political agenda and wokeness really makes me dislike this video.... thumb down for me..

I loved the video. Personally my top two are interchangable with TotK and Baldur's Gate. Both games pushed so much in terms of ingenuity that it's hard to overlook how passionate they were. Some examples are building virtually anything you can think of, or becoming a king of pushing foes off the battlefield to their death (insane amount of terrain exploration that you don't usually see in isometrics and the nearly infinite variables to stories each will go through).

Lies of P would have easily taken it any other year as its an homage to two of my favorite games of all time in Sekiro and Bloodborne and kept the level design of a Dark Souls somehow would be my 3rd. You could easily throw the FromSoftware name on it and people wouldn't blink twice and think differently its that good. Macabre Zelda is how I used to describe these games (originally played Demon Souls on PS3) before people gave it the soulsborne title after Bloodborne.

What a fantastic year to be a gamer though! I am 100% buying Hi-Fi Rush right now on Steam as I didn't realize it was on PC yet!

If Max said "Hi Fi Rush" is among the games of the year so be it but why does the main character in the game never seem to stand still in a normal posture? Why does the character can't stand still in a normal stance but always move its body like it's dancing?

Armored Core 6 made me stain my pant because it was so good (both sides of the pants)

Max and friends should try Phasmophobia. Gives me the same horror/comedy with friends than Lethal Company.

Lies of p is my GOTY as well, game was just too solid overall and it made it all the better that I had no expectations going into it since this is the studio's first souls game

I too did not really like 16 as much as I wanted to. I think the game is way too long for the type of game it’s trying to be. The gaps of time between new abilities are fucking excruciating. On top of that it’s just new special moves, the combat really doesn’t evolve beyond what you can do in the very beginning. It is especially disappointing as a 14 player cause I know this team can do better.

HIFI RUSH LETS GOOOOOOO

Hi-Fi Rush is my GoTY. I just loved every minute and Max put it perfectly. It's an early 2000's PS2-era game with 2023 game polish.

I completely agree in regards to FFXVI, the game has some really highs then suddenly it drops so freaking low it leaves you dumbfounded. And as you said I wish it went either full action with mission based gameplay like DMC or full RPG but the game feels undecided and unwilling to fully commit. So it creates a lot of these meandering in-between big moments, and then there's the story which is weird since it seemed like it was a big focus but it just goes nowhere? All the war between narions and politics just suddenly takes a back step and then is completely removed the moment Ultima becomes a thing. We don't know what the mother problem was, Odin was just pathetic, the emperor just dies in a cutscene and we don't know if he was being controlled or not, his son is just weird. Yeah the story starts off really well and you think it goes somewhere but no not really, and of course you need to kill god at the end which weirdly was very much out of place in this FF.


My personal GOTY is actually 2 games, AC6 and Lies of P and can't pick, and Blasphemous 2 is a close second.

What's cool about Max is that he doesn't coke off like a fan boy of any specific game. He is well balanced and level headed in his analysis. He doesn't give off gate keeping vibes and always acknowledges different opinions and how there is no right and wrong in them. Keep up the good work Max.

With FF16 I couldn’t have said it better myself. I beat it out of spite and morbid curiosity. Definitely 50/50 on it.

Said nothing about spider-man 2 should come to Xbox to reach a wider audience because it's a good game, Xbox people miss out 😔
Gets to Xbox HiFi Rush, put it on Playstation and switch for a wider audience, Xbox can't have good games from inside or out 😢

I don’t know why alen wale 2 wasnt in your top 5 of 2023. It was my fav game of 2023. Was so unique and different than many games that it deserves game of year for me. Ff16 wasn’t that bad but not a masterpiece. Re4 remake was amazing and dead space remake. My top games.

Hi-Fi Rush gave me something that so many action games haven't done so in a while, that thing being sweet, delicious air combos. I hope we get more action games that follow the DMC style of action instead of just being Soulslikes.

Beat Lies of P 7 times (4 with 1 character, 3 with another). It came out of nowhere and absolutely took my GOTY spot, too. Amazing game. Can't wait for the DLC.

I was never a SoulsBourne player but Lies of P was my game of the year. Just started playing it a couple of days ago and loving every minute of it.

I feel like Baldur's Gate 3 just took a big, steamy dump on the whole argument that turn-based combat is dead. Which is why FFXVI feels really bad now and wasn't as successful as past FF games. And I say that as someone who actually enjoyed FFXVI and as a huge FF fan. But yeah, I think SE needs to stop with the whole Capcom wannabe act and just embrace their RPG roots.

I only beat Remnant 2 multiple times and pretty much didn't beat any other game this year even though I bought pretty much everything including SF6 and I never play fighting games. 😅
Also. I'll pick up Lies of P again. If Max loves it this much. I shall beat.
