THEY ARE ALL ON OUR COUNSEL, AND EVEN WITH HOMESTEAD & DISABILITIES OUR PROPERTY TAXES ARE OVER $600.00 A YEAR UP FROM $136.00 A YEAR. I AM 84YRS.OLD AND IT IS SO HARD TO PAY THAT. THE VILLAGES GET ALL NEW HIGHWAYS. WHILE WE IN SOUTH SUMTER COUNTY CAN'T GET OUR ROADS GRADED. WHEN IT RAINS FOR 2DAYS WE ARE FLOODED IN. I HAVE FOUGHT THE COUNTY FOR 3 YEARS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ROAD. BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT IS ONLY A RIGHT A Way.and THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ROAD.
BUT THEY WANT THE TAXES PAID. THE VILLAGES. HAVE BOUGHT UP ALL OF THE CATTLE LAND. YES, I DO NOT ENJOY LIVING HERE ANYMORE. 😢😢😢

I lived in Florida for 30 years. I don't live there anymore. Luckily I sold my house last year. Insurance, county and city taxes came to approximately $18K a year. Screw that. I left and I won't be back. Fleece the 1000 damn Yankees that move there every day. Enjoy your retirement.

Every state in the US has problems with inflation. The only things different about Florida and other states are that 1) yes, Florida has a lot of retirement/second homes, 2) Florida has no state income tax, 3) Florida government spends only about half as much per capita as states like NY, 4) Florida has better public schools than most states, 5) Florida is more business friendly than most states, 6) Florida still has a lower cost of living than most coastal states, and 7) Florida doesn't have an insane leftist government.

So, Florida may face some unique economic challenges due to high second home ownership, but Florida is still the place to which people want to move.

What about all of the people forced to rent. We rented without a fixed rent. Started at $1600 and now pay $2200. We are not on a fixed income.

I sold out of Florida when the market was high. I am glad I left.

I am 53 and retired at 50. 1 thing I did do to retire early was to get out of the 401K and IRA programs. Bought rental real-estate and I am now a Limited Partner in about 1500+ units from collabrative efforts in the fund my estate planner has me invested in. I do not work.

The state has a sad practice of building on borrowed time. (The Netherlands they are not.) The exit ramp will be lit by the insurance industry and the banks, neither industry will sacrifice itself for general stupdity and folly.
