I just wanted to say to Nolan, thank you. I'm sure this song hits home for many of us me as well. The level of emotion through this song I've maybe heard a handful of times in my life. I've waited to post as I was just floored and frankly couldn't put my thoughts on this to words. Your song to me is a beautiful lighting storm. It cuts very deep almost to a primal level for me. This song hurt on several levels. But I seem to keep listening to it. I, thankfully, don't know about growing up with an addicted parent but I know that feeling of not wanting to go home because of fighting parents. This is easily one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. I want nothing but peace and joy for this young man.

When you cut these toxic people out of your life and you move on to a better, peaceful life without all the sins they taught you...then you are the bad person and called a devil, and lied on about all the petty crap lies that they can come up with. Both my parents were like his mom.. My family even turned my children against me and lead them down the same dead end road laden with their sins. I just read an article in the Wilmington News Journal featuring Nolan Taylor. I grew up in Blanchester too. Left in the late 70's. Just moved back to the area in 2016. I was a Taylor, but he must be from a distant cousins family line I've never met. Nolan's about my youngest daughter's age. My heart cried hearing his lyrics. He has a beautiful, beautiful voice as well as a natural instrumental talent. I love hearing him sing with his heart. If he ever comes back, to Blanchester, I hope he gets in touch with me. I'd love for him to perform at the Blanchester Fourth of July Celebration. He'd be an inspiration to the young people in our small town who struggle so much in these sad times. Maybe it'd give those who feel the way he did, hope. My ex would quit every good job he had, would be the first layed off, or he'd get fired for his temper. He finally went to school, I helped him get a business off the ground, he was making great money, then one day came home, told me he sold the business for $5K, and we were broke again. I knew if I didn't go to work, and work hard, we'd never have anything, So without a college degree, I went to work. I'd work until I gained the skills I needed. If I didn't get the raise promised, I moved on to a better job. I know how it felt to be poor, and struggling. I never got to do what I wanted to do in life, but I accepted what life handed me. I'm retired now. I only answer to my husband of 4 years now, but sometimes he doesn't like my answer! LOL!!

Just discovered this song and thank you for putting into a song what so many, including myself, have gone through with rough childhoods. I may wished to not have to go back home then, but now many years later... i want to go home and be the parent that I never had.

Im 38 and haven't heard any song ever hit home like this one. Not going to get into my childhood, but i have 4 children of my own now. Ill never understand how a parent could ever hurt their children. Its beyond my comprehension that a mother or father could make choices that would hurt your own child for the rest of their lives. Dad loves you more than anything girls.. if you ever stumble upon this. I did the best I could with you all... Always take care of one another.
