Don't want an HOA? Don't get one. Painfully simple. Deal with your own garbage, your own neighbor's barking dogs and other issues, your own yard work and your own snow removal, and everything else. You might want that for yourself. Some people would rather pay to not have to deal with it. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The way HOA’s have become is a deterrent for many home owners trying to sell their homes. So if their idea is to help keep home values up, their reputation has lowered home values. However people need to put up a fight, we pay their salary. Become board members and get the rules overturned

My parents bought a house in an HOA in Florida. The builder didn't use use energy efficient windows and my bedroom full faced the sun in the afternoon. But to change the windows we had to get HOA approval. They refused us on the grounds that the windows were part of the original structure and could only be replaced with identical quality windows.
Another thing that I don't believe this young man has mentioned, is that if anyone sues, all of the homes in the community are assessed legal fees.
When I bought my home, I told the realtor don't even show me an HOA house.

My hoa hit us with a surprise $500 special assessment 2 weeks before Christmas last year. Now they're raising dues from $67 a month to $100 a month. They don't do anything but hire a snow plow to clean the roads in the winter. Makes me regret buying my house.

Your car tags have nothing to do with the HOA.... if the vehicle is parked on your property and not on the road, what gives them the authority?... HOA's are not your boss... it is your house and not theirs....

I was fine 100.00 a day for backing in my EV, because they claimed car exhaust fumes was going into the building. I was able to fight it and now everyone is allowed to back into their parking space

Ordering an owner to open their garage door for a certain period is against the 4th & 5th Amendments. We had similar issues in our community but our board knew better. If someone had proof of a garage being turned into a bedroom, we'd look at it but we had to right to go around and tell people to open their garage doors.

It's clear that HOA only does this to torment home owners.

A number of years ago I was told a story that a HOA actually tried to pass rules about what time lights inside a home had to be turned off. From 11PM till 5PM no lights outside of night lights under 25 watts or a bathroom light which could only be on for 5 minutes max and this could not exceed more than 20 minutes total. No tv's, computer screens could be on either only tablets under a certain size and your phone could be on after the hours of 11. It went on to say that anyone under the age of 18 also could not be up "roaming" the home during those hours either. Now how they would know if kids were "roaming" the home I have no idea. Ultimately this was never approved but if true (I have my doubts) this only goes to show how far HOA's think they can control people. Fortunately I live on a decent size property where my closest neighbor is about 3 miles away.

Who do they pay taxes to? Will HOA pay for damages in a house as in a fire or flood, file charges against HOA for disturbing your peace, find anything illegal they do, give them hell in court, file individualy not as a group, will stop them if everyone cooperates

The guy with the Rivian was down here in Florida and after he won that lawsuit, Florida wrote a bill this past year and made it illegal for HOA to be able to ban work trucks or any kind of pick up trucks to be banned from peoples driveway and it’s illegal for HOA the check tag plates or anything else because they are not cops You can still get your car towed if you’re on a road in HOA but you cannot absolutely not get your car towed in the driveway down here in Florida anymore because it’s against the law that will consider to be stealing somebody vehicle unless you did not pay your car note

I think every day should make it illegal for HOA to be able to foreclose on your home because if you’re paying to a bank, they got no right to foreclose on your home. It should be 100% understand why you are there but they’re acting like they got more power than the governmentdoes. It should be 100% illegal.

Me, I got no interest in living in a neighborhood with snobby snitching neighbors that allow a small portion of the neighborhood to decide on every little factor for them.
