115 Watt TDP! Gosh no wonder you felt heat coming out from the fans. I had mentioned before to a friend of mine that you don't have to game with mega amounts of cores you can game with a Quad Core CPU and I suggest a Six Core CPU would be sweet on the spot and will be cooler and never overheat. 16 cores is an overkill and basically calling for a fire to start inside of the tiny compact case. NUC PCs should be cooler not faster. Also since it will be compact just like a laptop, the CPU doesn't need to be Overclocked as it will create heat. It needs to run at base speeds. Can you please tell us if ASUS will be selling these NUCs with dual lan ports? Thanks.

Intel: "We're cancelling and shutting down the NUC lineup."
ASUS: "The F*K YOU ARE!" *buys Intel's NUC division

...
As an Intel Hades Canyon NUC (NUC8) owner, this ROG NUC is going to be my next PC. The entry fee is high, sure, but there's really not much out there that gets close to doing this form factor well. NUCs are really in a catagory all on their own, and their use case applications are astounding.

Still waiting for somebody or Valve put out proper gaming box/steam box, with proper GDDR6 with 256 Bit memory bus+, and with DDR4/or DDR5 system memory and running steam os. Not bloated windows. Valve said steam os is coming desktop pc and other devices. We just don’t know when.

Not bad Nuc, but we don’t see too many with proper dedicated Vram. It’s Always DDR5.

At this point, what is the use of a NUC, if its so power intensive and expensive?

Edit: Damn, that price. At least they are trying to squeeze in a 4070. Maybe they need 2 power adapters? Cause 4070 Super/Ti would make a much better gaming experience. Especially at that 2k price tag.

I hope you guys know the NUC 12 serpent canyon has an i7 12700H with an Intel Arc A770M, all for $600 + $100 to buy a 64gig of ram kit, it outperform this Asus with a rtx 4060 and rtx 4070. For 1/3 of the price

With Arch Linux being a rolling release, it should work great with such a device. I use RichARCH btw. With it I was able to get Arch Linux up and running simply and quickly with kickstart like automation features.

I know that the price is definitely more expensive compared to just building your own PC, but this ROG NUC is something that I've been looking for. A small PC that you can take anywhere.

While yes gaming laptops can do that too, they take up more space than the NUC and it's hard to hook up an external monitor if you have limited desk space.

Even though it's really cool to have that much power in a NUC formfactor, that pricing is nuts, paying essentially a 1000 dollars just for the formfactor and a 1000 for the hardware.
While if you build a small ITX sized PC (small footprint, albeit it not as small as NUC, still smaller than full tower) and similar hardware you'd literally be at about half the price....

I bought a mini PC and I'm extremely satisfied. It has 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB M.2 SSD, and a 4 TB regular SSD, totaling 5 TB. The processor is an AMD Ryzen 9 with a base speed of 3.3 GHz, capable of reaching 4.9 GHz, and it comes with an integrated Radeon 680M RDNA2 graphics card. This tiny device performs exceptionally well for office work, watching movies, editing photos and 4K videos, and for both work and media consumption. Additionally, it is silent and takes up minimal space (about the size of a key fob). I also have a 32-inch 4K monitor. I've been using it for a year now, and I'm extremely pleased. The entire setup cost me 750 euros (excluding the monitor). I don't play games on PC as I have a PS5 and Xbox Series X for that, and I've gotten used to console gaming since the PS3 era. This mini PC is a gem for my needs. The model is "MINIS FORUM UM690 Mini PC," and I added a 4 TB SSD, bringing the total cost to 750 euros. It also has a Thunderbolt 4 port, allowing connection to external graphics cards like the GeForce 4070 GTX (in a separate enclosure with its own power supply), although I don't need that for my purposes as I haven't been gaming on PC for many years.

I bought the nuc 11 enthusiast rtx 2060 kit (barebone) back when it came out for $1100 mainly for retro gaming and its still a beast. Asus name on it explains the extra couple hundred but I bet it's gonna be a monster if the original nuc team designed it.

Then it’s not what I was looking for, the price is just unreasonable, I can build a full 4070 build for around the same price but that doesn’t have mobile version limitations, it has much better components, better cooling and to me it’s more appealing aesthetically. I was considering it as a secondary pc for when I go visit my grand parents because I tought it could cost less than 1500 and I liked the idea of having something small on the desk, but 2000+ for a worse version of something that I can have fun building no thanks

the tjmax on the core ultra 7 is 110 degrees C. so that is why it reached 106C on a big turbo thing then the 70-80 C is extremely nice temps for a cpu like this. most laptop run at 99C constantly under load anyway

So a Lenovo legion is 1400 right now and has a 4070. It’s also 140 watt dynamic boost. You get a screen and a keyboard and mouse pad and ram and hdd too. They want 2200 for this thing with ram and hdd? I’m sorry but they are out of their minds. With ram and hdd it should be under 1500. They won’t be selling many of these at this price point.

I wonder if they will also continue and hopefully improve the Extreme line.
If they keep them small, don't overprice them, don't make them as ugly as most Asus products, and don't skimp on Ports, meaning TB4 is a must and no more slow sub USB 3.2 Gen 2 insults, then they could be quite interesting.
