For Those Who Fear Death & Aging

im 18 and have been struggling with my mortality concept since I was younger

im 13 and i fear death because i wouldnt have anything to do when i die like just imagine a pitch black for eternity

Running out of time and wasting it bothers me more not accomplishing what I want in life

Ngl having children is completely selfish. First of all you cannot guarantee their happiness. Then they will have to deal with the death of their parents. Then inevitably they will die. Parents know what death and pain feels like so why put their own child through that ?

I will never age, I will never get old, I will not catch no terminal illness and I will not freaking die because cause it’s illogical, and does not compute.

Covid or whatever it was had me sick for almost 2yrs. My wife had a baby during covid. I went to bed worried i wouldnt wake up almost every night. This messed with my head. My health got better but my mental health is still suffering. I never worried about death or the future but now I have periods of time i want to run down the street screaming because my anxiety runs over me, fear of my daughter growing up, and the happiest time of my life ending. Worry about getting older and suffering in whatever way it may come. I worry about losing my wife to age or bad health. All these negative thoughts i never had before now flood my brain. Im trying my best to come to peace with my present and what will be my future. But once the mind is messed up its hard to come back and move on. I pray everyday that I wont feel these things and I can go back to being truly happy. Im trying my best. But i think the next step is therapy.

it's more that you know you can prevent aging... not that i'm worrying about my actual age... more worrying about that what if i'm contributing to premature aging

Your average statistics can not be compared to today. Being that most children dont die before age 5 as they did in 1830s.
Face it, you are going to make it about 75 80 and that's it. Yes its sucks but its reality

After both parents are gone and you're not close to any other family and have no friends that fear really kicks in then. Single all my life facing it all alone. Mother passed 2 years ago. I just turned 62 in April.

Jeez, here I was worrying about aging and death ... the inevitable decline of all that's good, having life stripped bit by bit until it's completely unrecognizable, seeing everyone I know age, change, and die until there's no one left that knows me, until I no longer know me, then death and the great void beyond, etc. What relief to discover I am a baby! A baby, BABY, I am a BABY. This is delusion, self hypnosis, hysterical reasoning. It seems like the only answer is to ignore all the bad to come. What else can be done? But sometimes it's not so easy.

The average life expectancy was so low in Rockefeller's day, because of youth and infant mortality. 1/3 of the population died before 10 years. If you made it past ten, you were very likely to live to 70 80 or even 100.

I think you ignored why people worry death or aging: it’s desire to be younger than others.

Im 54. I hate birthdays because every year I am closer to the end of my life. Only about 10-20, max, good quality years left, and they will fly by. Once people hit 80, they are very old. I am already too old for many things I did back in the 80's- if I did some of that stuff now, it might actually kill me! 😱I HATE getting older. I don't mind "being" 54, in itself, it's the fact that I'm on my way out that upsets me. I'm not at all afraid of dying, I just don't want to. I want to be around, and in good health for 50 more years! And time goes by so incredibly fast now, twice as fast as it used to! I feel like I still haven't started living the life I want to live yet , and that by the time I get even halfway there, it'll be time to go. I think about this stuff constantly, and it upsets me. I wonder if I'm the only one that feels this way, or if there are any others out there that feel the same? 🤔

The average lifespan thing isn't well explained. A lot of children died before 10, so you average that against a bunch of folks living to 80 and that's how you get the 39.5. Same thing when people discuss average lifespan of anybody prior to modern medicine. Peasants in the 1700's probably weren't making it to 80 or 90 very often, but 60 was an achievable goal.

I wanted to retire at age of 25 having a successful business

I'm 51 years old and I think I arrested my development around 35-40. I can't figure out how to act in my 50s. I was healthy at 35 in fact I got sick around 46 yrs old. I'm still sick and I cannot figure out why I constantly tell myself what I need to do but myself then gets in some kinda funk and I keep myself from getting healthy. Why? What can I do to turn my thoughts around.
I suffer from chf , lymes, malnutrition and for the last two yrs I've managed to gain 80lbs.

Ive been going through a life crisis since 18! When i turned 18 i felt old and like i had wasted my life. At 18!

I'm 18. But I feel like I'm old I don’t wanna grow up anymore. Whenever I think about growing up I feel depressed I get anxiety. Why these things happen when aging is too normal. I just can't accept the fact that I'm growing old 🙂
