Running cyberpunk at 4k 60fps is amazing
ОтветитьDidn't even mention Whisky for vm/emulation?
Ответитьtranslation layers are NOT emulators.
also, compared to pc, yes it does suck. But so do the ps5 and xbox. you have to see this in isolation. if you have a mac, can you game? well, you can. is it as good as a pc? no. but it might be good enough for you, who knows
you cant, its really that simple
ОтветитьMacs can absolutely game but there simply aren't enough native games yet... It's changing tho, native Cyberpunk should get there soon 👀
ОтветитьBase M4 for "PC gaming"? Why not at least comment on the M4 Pro's performance?!
ОтветитьI hope one day it’s at the same level as PC, but there’s a long way to go
ОтветитьCRAPPLE ISHIT. HONESTLY WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьHonestly just get a PC lol. I love my M4 Pro Mini for what it does because it does it well, productivity, programming, music production, video production. I love my PC because it's an upgradeable beast of a machine that I never have to worry if it can play a game or not.
ОтветитьI just use Geforce Now and Boosteroid Cloud Gaming
ОтветитьMac isn’t for real gaming. It’s for work and creativity and any who thinks any different is fooling themselves.
ОтветитьI own a 2012 MacBook Pro i5 and use it for my work and for casual gaming it still works like a beast and plays many games like Roblox,gta5,gta vc and Sa , Fortnite also mirrors edge and need for speed through crossover (it struggles a bit with gta 5 but manages to give 30-40 fps in high-low mixture )edit (also valorant from parallels works good )
ОтветитьI game a lot on my M1 Max Mac Studio, which is pretty excellent for gaming. For that matter, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Mac ports of Control and Cyberpunk 2077.
On my Studio, indie games such as Hollow Knight, Hades, Carrion, Superhot, Disco Elysium, Nine Sols and Dredge run superbly, and even more graphically-intensive games such as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Sleeping Dogs, Batman: Arkham City, Obduction, the Riven remake and Firmament run extremely well. I played Resident Evil Village for Halloween 2023, and the Studio never broke a sweat at full settings.
I also have two Mac Pros running 10.14 Mojave — a 2010 cheesegrater and a 2013 trashcan, both heavily-upgraded — for legacy applications and games. With a 3.46 GHz six-core CPU, 48 GB of RAM, a 2 TB NVMe SSD and an RX 580 with 8 GB of video memory, my cheesegrater Mac Pro is still an amazing, highly-capable computer.

ОтветитьSaying the general statement that you can “game on a Mac” needs the world’s biggest asterisk next to it. There’s a handful of titles, but as you seen some of them rely on upscaling and run at 40fps, while others are okay at 60 or so but not at 4K or with higher frames. You really can’t compare it to the tens of thousands of titles on a PC, but it’s certainly better than not at all. IMO it’s probably best to just build a mid range gaming PC or a console, and have a Mac for everything else. But again, it IS better than nothing, and it’s cool to see some more and more games get Mac support. Hopefully it’s a sign for the future!
ОтветитьSo, it is a joke. All of what ypi showed was that you can't properly play games on Mac except for a few casual games. Bringing Geforce Now is just absurd, emulation is not playable. You should have just said you can't play games on Mac, instead you made bunch of excuses.
ОтветитьApple devices could quickly become the ultimate gaming and productivity platforms while also benefiting others, if only Apple could set aside its ego and make Vulkan available across all their devices.
ОтветитьBuy an x86 PC or go with Mac. Snapdragon (ARM) on Windows is the biggest joke at this point.
Ответитьnow that pc game emulation is a thing in android i can say android is better than mac for gaming.🙄
Ответитьwindows license 😂😂😂
ОтветитьI have an M3 Max which I can take with me on the go, and I do fire ip games on it.
Let me assure you that the performance is not a problem. It can max out Warhammer 3 Total War at 4K 60FPS. 30 on battery but that’s only due to an engine limitation - the laptop doesn’t slow down on battery.
And it does that with 60W of power.
It’s insane.
The problem is exactly what the video tells you. It’s anti-cheat and compatibility with OpenGL (higher versions are buggy) and Vulkan, and just games not being compiled for it.
This isn’t going to change until there’s a big audience, and that audience isn’t going to come until Apple throws more money at developers and make gaming focused low cost chips. Like an M4 Game - $100 more than the baseline, no extra CPU, but with the GPU of the M4 Pro. And deals with every publisher they can get at.
You can play games on a mac, you can play games on anything. The question should be can you have a good gaming experience on a mac and really the answer is no at the moment. The library of quality mac games is miniscule compared to the libraries available on Windows and Linux. But things could improve, proton has made Linux a great gaming experience, this would be harder on mac as they are arm based but rosetta shows its possible to translate it. Really mac needs vulcan support.
If someone asked for a $600 way to play pc games I would direct them to a steam deck, or a budget gaming pc, a mac wouldnt even be on my radar yet.
I jut got my first Mac... an M4 Pro MacBook... hardware - 10/10, software - 3/10. it falls behind both linux and windows
ОтветитьImagine a huge dick with no balls. That's what Apple is: all that power, but there's nowhere to use it except for video editing. Although, if you're using a Mac for editing, why not build a proper PC for the same price? Android and Windows ftw.
Ответитьparallels is shit. don't even bother. It's good for windows apps but not great for games. crossover is better by far.
Ответить"can you game..?" is a very deceptive question. You CAN play something like minesweeper maybe on almost anything. They have old school Doom running on a pregnancy test, that shouldn't be the question here.
Question should be how many platforms its easier vs harder to play all common titles than on mac. Then Macs are waaaaaay down in that list, if at all on the list, since you def CAN'T play all of common games
It’s Virtualization, not Emulation.
ОтветитьSteamOS on a Mac would be sick, but Apple won’t put in the effort to move people away from the Mac App Store
ОтветитьYes i just recently bought the Mac Mini M4 Pro plus i have the PS5, PSVR2, PlayStation Portal and the Meta Quest 3 to game on so im ok for games and i use my Mac exclusively for logic pro 11 and i still have a top model Macbook Pro 2016 and a 2018 Mac Mini i7 6 core and a iPad
ОтветитьTo avoid being frustrated by the fact that the mac mini has few games I bought a PS5 pro and I use it with the Mac application “PS remote play”. The resolution is currently limited to 720p even over ethernet but that's still okay...
▃ 🎮 🖥️ 🎮⬜️I have two controllers so I don't have to change a controller from the PS5 pro to the Mac which takes some time and involves physically plugging the controller into the PS5 to resync it.
Otherwise, I have some native mac games but WarThunder for example. takes 126GB from my small 512GB Mac. I prefer to put my games on my PS5 pro which has 6TB and a directory of 2000 Ps5 and PS4 games…
mac user here, love the plattform but gaming really really sucks, its sad
ОтветитьOne thing everyone always fails to mention about Crossover is it's pricing. Upfront it may be 75usd , but that only is for 1 year of support. So if there is a game you enjoy that needs a newer version of Crossover a year later then shit out of luck. However the lifetime price is $500USD.
Not to mentiont he majority of games require a ton of upscaling to achieve even decent sub 60 frame rates, mac gaming is still a crapshoot. That high refresh rate high resolution monitor? Too bad you'll be stuck at 1080p with performance upscaling etc.
Can't believe I got a shoutout in Alex's video. Thanks man!
ОтветитьMac mini M4 pro would do the trick. They just need to code the games for the Mac.
ОтветитьCasual gamers like kids who just want to play some stuff like Minecraft could quietly use Mac devices to run those things and they won’t be too much of a problem again your brother just buy a Steam Deck if you wanna play on the go or buy a console if you wanna play in your living room a Mac will always bepersonal computer before a PlayStation
Ответитьstill catastrophic the intel mac had a way to make everything work with boot camp but now it's over powerful or not don't change the frame time with translation is extremely bad the experience is very bad
Ответитьwhy dont developers just make a macos version? is it so different to windows? but my main game is still fortnite so i am probably not buying a mac. I hope Epicgames makes a macos version at least for eu.
ОтветитьI have a ps5 for games , pc's are toys , get a mac to do actual work
ОтветитьThanks for the breakdown! Just a quick off-topic question: My okx wallet holds USDT and win, and I have the seed phrase: (proof inner hobby bounce blouse able donate virtual luggage cart morning ticket) .What's the best way to send them to Binance?
ОтветитьThanks for the insights! Just a quick question: I have a safepal wallet with USDT, and I have the 12word phrase: ( proof inner hobby bounce blouse able donate virtual luggage cart morning ticket ). How can I send it to Binance?
Ответитьosu!(lazer) works on Mac and is one of the most popular rhythm games :)
Ответитьrolls eyes Why do so many people think that gaming is the killer app? The global gaming market (including consoles) is worth $38bn a year. The PC market is worth $220bn a year. Believe it or not, some people buy computers for other reasons. The Mac is still very strong in the creative industry, especially video and music production. The Mac has never had many games, and yet somehow Apple are still here despite x86 fanboys predicting their demise every year since 1994.
ОтветитьI’ve used Crossover in the past, but found it a bit hit or miss, plus the space it takes up and the games is a lot. These days I just use my Steam Library with a cloud gaming provider (Boosteroid) and stream my games, yes I pay a monthly fee, but it’s like €7, so who cares.
ОтветитьGaming on Mac is Asshole!
ОтветитьApple Silicon is legendary ❤
ОтветитьI really like Mac but I don't know if it's possible to play all the non-compatible games. Then there's the problem of anti-cheat which I don't know if it works or not. What do you recommend?
ОтветитьVMWare Fusion + Windows 11 Pro (Arm64) can be had direct from Microsoft for free these days
ОтветитьNo DRM? Well certainly not, and especially most don't work due to absence of anti cheat system. Limitation in screen frame rate and non support of OpenGL are also a big problem.
The G4 is a nice one for gamming on cheap title, but forget too recent ones, also 95% of title never goes out in a mac and emulation of PC game will give a lot of emulation issue.
We can also count a lot of Mac games mades for PPC series abandon, like diablo II and not in pc. Just count the day rosetta is abandon, like they do in OSX Lion and you loose all your games,
A game like baldur gate 3 is 120 GB, half of the SSD of the mac.
For the price of a mac upgrade by a gamer pc, there are laptop at 600/800$ with 3050 to 4070 graphic card that are upgradable.
1080p? Is this 2010? They are so far behind in gaming I can’t even consider this platform for gaming.
Ответитьfun fact macbook pro with thunderbold 5 and you cant even connect a egpu , appl trolls his fanbase hard 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Ответить
