Awesome video and truly vinland is easily in my top shows ever. Though kinda wish you had a talk about his scene with askeladd. That that whole scene is full of mixed emotions and was well done💯

I don’t think slavery was really the point in the arnheud parts. It is just to show the cycle of violence. Kettle was a victim off that cycle multiple times and nroke

I don't know that I agree with your take on Snake. I don't see Snake being a villain. He might act like the majority of people and settle for the status quo of the time, but he wasn't a malicious person like Ketil or Kjallakr. He's an antagonist, but I wouldn't call him a villain. It was understandable why he felt Gardar needed to die. The fact that neither Thorfinn, Einar, Sverkel, nor Arnheid had any rebuttal for him shows he had a valid point about the value of Gardar's life vs. the nine people Gardar had killed.

Amazing video. Honestly makes me appreciate season 2 a whole lot more, was unfortunately one of the ones that was kinda feelihg like it was getting a little boring since we didnt our GOAT actively fight again. But your vid makes me appreciate more the fight of becoming a true pacifist Thorfinn embarked on this season.

Season 2 had me zoning out half of the time due to meaningless exposition, poor pacing, lack of gravity or stakes in any situation, and flawed character logic.
Although the overarching theme of "everyone is a slave to something" is intriguing, if the scenes in each episode are boring, the significance of the character development implications falls flat.

I used to disagree strongly with arguments such as my own, but as season 2 developed, it became clear that the message was more important than the delivery.
Practices like:

1. A rushed family reunion? Haha, look at how funny his sister's physical abuse is!
2. a vital character dies- Move on!
3. Is King Canute changing his mind and war strategies? Make that a 10-second explanation!
4. The master (the biggest softie on earth) learns about his concubine escaping. You know the 'shock' factor I'm talking about, let's not BEAT a dead horse...

All the while talking nonsense to fill in the time, there's your 20 minutes, enjoy! Everything loses its impact. No situation has measurable effects. No episode weaves into the other.
You can argue about the show's "big brain setup," but if it's not entertaining to watch, then the logic falls apart. I get more immersed in lore when watching the Tellitubies worship their baby faced sun god.

Vinland Saga S2 has some of the best art I've seen in anime, with some of the least exciting writing possible. Masterpiece is a cope. It's mid.

A month ago in 7/10 (at 1am) i wanted to finish the second season of Vinland saga when i wake up but i woke up to a war. I couldn't finish it. it was hard for me to watch an anime about war and peace in a war. But yesterday i decided to finish it and it completely changed my view, now that i watch this video, it's just feels so real to just want peace and not wanting to fight. I wish all wars will end, and that the world will be a better place

Love everything about this season, but the reunion between Thorfinn and his family was stupid beyond belief and it makes ms way more angry than it should, but I can’t help it it’s so so so stupid

You had the opportunity to create one of the most beautiful moments in anime history and they start with a stupid comedic shtick with his sister and and the other Thorfinn guy, what on earth made someone believe this was a good idea

Again it just the biggest wasted opportunity I have ever seen and the fact it was replaced by a stupid shtick makes me even angrier

I hate it and thinking about it makes my blood boil

As a Christian I feel that Vinland Saga, while I like it and it is a good story, will lead people away from God.

Thorfinn goals are admirable, to have a land of peace on earth, and the world would be better if Thorfinn was a real person, but his goals are not possible. Vinland is heaven, and we won’t see anything like that this side of death.

Vinland Saga being a stylized telling of the [probably spoilers but history nerds will know as VINLAND is the big hint] is absolutely fantastic to me. So many real life characters and effort in making it historically accurate (relatively speaking) makes me so incredibly happy. Cnut (Canute is also acceptable), Thorfinn, Thorkel (IRL he was Thorkel the Tall.. no bullshit), Leif Ericson, Ketill, and so many others are all people that really existed and the series tried quite hard to put them in roles that mimicked their real lives.

The absolutely stunning part isnt the amazing writing, the incredibly deep and well developed characters, or the beautifully animated settings, its that they put faces and personalities to the absolute GIANTS of the real Viking era.

The thing tho ketil didn’t free the male slaves out of the goodness of his heart but rather, he did that then hired them to work in his farm. It would make the slaves work harder and them still serving him once they’re free. His good deeds were to serve himself, hence the reason y he’d never get rid of arnheid as freeing her won’t benefit himself. His father said that Ketil was greedy, so once all his wealth and farm was threatened to be lost, lost it.

So many people liked season 2? I just finished it and was very disappointed compared to season 1! There are too many gaps in the story. Also, the fights were... could be better. Thornfin can't help Snake when he is getting shocked by a half-dead man? King Canut gets saved by having his teacher throw a sword at the wrist of Thorgil? piercing it halfway like a spear?

Honesty, I'd say Snake is more like an Anti Hero. He does do questionable things, like staying with Ketil, and Kill Armhide's husband. He never did anything truly evil. He's a good man who just does questionable things. To call him a villain would just ignore the good he did. He stopped Ketil from killing Arnhide (or at least he tried), he treated the slaves like human beings, stopped Fox from killing Thorfin, looked after his men, and looked after the Old Master.
