Stop wasting your time with Picture Profiles (Sony A7SIII + A7III)

if you have the A7III you also have the NEUTRAL Creative style and thats what i use for that beast!

Creative Styles are pretty good for beginners, i tried them myself long time ago and i found that in many situations they will be more then enough. I think it depends on what kind of client you will be working it, if they are demanding and paying well then obviously you should go with hlg2,3 or maybe even sl2. But if you are working with someone who doesn't care and he just needs work done as fast as possible then using Neutral for example will do 90% of the job and maybe 10% tweaking while video editing.

Great video! If you choose the Creative Look NT but your A7SIII is set to PP8 SLOG3 does the Creative Look NT over ride the SLOG setting? I'd rather not use the SLOG3. Your idea seems much easier until I learn more about filming. I am also completely clueless on color editing so this is a big help. Thanks!

So I had to look for it on my sony a7r3 and there is only contrast, saturation and sharpness. didnt even know those existed but you can set up different settings to select from like vivid, standard, neutral etc.

im def. going try using creative ive been shooting in log but im not a colorist so I don't have a lot of knowledge there yet

What is the different between the creative look and the picture profiles?

Great video thanks! How often do you shoot in creative style neutral percentage style. What are the percentages for your other go to profiles? S-Cinetone, Slog3cine, HLG3? Hope to hear back and thanks so much!!! :)

Hello! Thank you for this video. Just purchased the Sony 7SIII and am at a bit of a loss with all the pciture profiles. What you suggest to use Creative looks sounds like a good option... however then.... what picture profile should I have selected? Or should I have Picture profile OFF?

This is dope, I've been trying cine4 and slog2 and the footage is just to grainy and it's too much work. My workload is getting a bit crazy, so this seems like my answer..
Question though, so in post would you just adjust things like saturation? I know not shooting in log limits what you can do in post, so what is my capability area when I switch to post production?

It's all a learning curve. I've shot in all sorts of color profiles for paid jobs. Clients can't tell the difference. This year I plan on shooting all events with just creative styles.
