Garage doors for my new shop were ordered in early July and were supposed to be delivered in mid August. Still don’t have them. Winter is coming here in Minnesota! Thanks for the update.

Hey Ken thank you for keeping us up to date! Labor costs are currently going up here in MA. I need to build a garage with a ceiling high enough for an automotive lift (14ft minimum ceiling height) but of course I want to do it as cost effective as possible. Should I be leaning more towards a metal building or a typical wood framed building?

Hey Ken, wondering if you've done a comparison as your last video suggested a 20 percent rise. Bought enough to frame a small porch like structure. Local price about 30 cents higher on 2x4x8 $3.34 Glade I'm not in building trades . Thanks for update!

Right now in our area, Menards in Duluth, MN sells 5/8” CDX plywood for $30/sheet. Our local lumber yards are selling for $40 and $44/sheet. I’m in the process of building a garage and sheathing the roof. I’m a little short, so I’ll have to buy a few sheets. While I was on the roof, I kept saying, “if Ken can do this, I can”. I’m about the same age as Ken and find those 5/8” sheets a beast to throw around. Good update Ken and thanks for the great videos.

Suburban Maryland at big box 7/16 4x8 OSB has been steady last couple weeks at $17.05. A couple dollars cheaper if you buy 90 sheets. A month or so ago it was at $14.00 per sheet.

Thanks for the update! Our projects are all on hold at least until spring. Hopefully prices will stabilize before then. This past year or so has driven us crazy! First it's covid quarantine, then job loss, and finding it's hard to find a job when every place is "hiring". I'm starting to think it's a game they are playing on the public. We want to work, they want workers, but they don't hire the ones that want to work. I don't get it! You're doing a great job with your business. You're honest, friendly, and definitely a hard worker! Thanks for the video. God bless you and take care!

Lumber prices are not because of the any supply issues. It is simply a cost of transporting lumber with oil and energy costs starting their move up. The cost of materials are going to start to depend on how far they are traveling. The shipping industry is about to be in shambles with vaccine mandates, driver shortages, and increased diesel prices.

I’ve been in construction running a business for 55 years plus and I retired five years ago. I have done a ton of vinyl siding and when I moved to New Hampshire I decided to build a workshop on my property I’m not gonna get into all the details that were obvious to me in the materials but it was really disappointing when I picked up the vinyl siding at ABC and found that the starter strip lock was about a quarter inch shorter then what it used to be I couldn’t use it because even if I bent it over I didn’t feel it would hold the first siding panel in Securely so I ended up cutting the top lock off good siding just to secure the bottom so The wind would not blow it off because I feel confident it would’ve happened they’re not only raising prices but they’re cutting the quality of the materials. I feel bad for all the contractors that are trying to deal with this crap and it’s not ABC‘s fault just people except what they get BUT I DON’T
I was always known as a first rate contractor and sometimes no matter how good your work is it is the material that helps make the job.

Odd how all pricing are going very high and at the same time many many many companies have been announcing VERY large stock buy backs Hmmm ever since the new tax cut was put into place. Target 8-18-21 = $15,000,000,000 Microsoft
9-14-21 60,000,000,000. 9-21-21 cracker barrel 100,000,000 9-29-21 dollar tree $2,500,000,000 Morgan Stanley 6-26-21
$ 12,000,000,000 The list goes on. Trickle down at it's best.

About 2 weeks ago I bought 4x8x1/2” CDX for around $33 a sheet for a shed loft project from Home Depot. Two days ago I was on the HD website and checked current prices (which I do occasionally)…it dropped to $22 a sheet.

I hitched up the trailer and made an HD run. Purchased 17 sheets for upcoming projects plus a few for later use. At those prices I wouldn’t be surprised if they run through their stock and then see more expensive CDX in the near future. Crazy that these panels were $85 earlier this year. 😵‍💫

Had an interesting conversation with a friend who works at a local lumber mill. Here in the US, the government (US Forest Service) controls most of the forest and consequently most of the trees that can be harvested. Now with Biden's vaccine mandate, lumber mills will not be sold trees unless they have all their employees and sub contractors jabbed. That means the workers at the mill, the loggers and even the people who work on logger saws will be required to show proof of vaccination. My friend works for a very large milling operation that is based in Canada, but has mills across the US. As it stands now, they may have to shut down the 3 mills in N Az because they will not have people to run them. Az has the largest Ponderosa pine forest in the US.
If this happens across the US and Canada, expect lumber shortages and price increases.

Looking forward to seeing the start to finish on this 24x24 as that’s the size we’re trying to get built just the basic unfinished that you show on your website for under $24k - it’s been discouraging trying to line up a builder as well as stomach the ridiculous quotes. Just got one tonight from a guy who was recommended and for a basic, uninsulated 2 car 24x24 they said $80k. I just started laughing as it was such an obvious ripoff and I’d have no idea what these should cost if I didn’t watch your videos.
