Would it make sense to get Quantum if I have an older computer (MacBook Pro Mid 2012)?

I use Presonus StudioLive 16R as my main audio interface, and its pretty powerful even tho this is mainly ment to be a mixer.

Looking at this 2 years later, I think the DSP is everything. At least for me when I stream life or record videos. I don't need to be in studio one each time I need to adjust mic settings.

I also have two M-audio 2626 that no longer works on my Mac (Catalina). I was also looking at those same interfaces and came to the same conclusion. Thanks for the confirmation.

My current 1824c has annoying crackles and pops no matter how high the buffer setting is. No pluginsz. Even 1 track and the playback gets cracks and pops still. Even when streaming of Spotify app, I’m getting cracks and pops. Wondering if the 192 usb 3.0 will get rid of the cracks and pops that my 1824c usb 2.0 are making

Does the quantum line level inputs bypass the preamps for connecting outboard gear. Planning to get this also

I was going to get the 1824 but the only draw back was it didnt have an internal talkback so I went with the scarlett 18i20. Only problem with thunderbolt interfaces is that thunderbolt itself is starting to get fazed out.

Sounds like you doing an Ad. Anyway I'm about to try a Quantum (arrives in less than 24hrs) for two reasons (1) thunderbold (2) it let's you totally bypass the preamps. I have no interest in frontend gear that runs on low voltage. I also suspect the Quantum will do better on a DIY brute force highly regulated PS instead of that wallwart thing it ships with

I went with the 1824c and I'm happy with it. It is a bit misleading that the C indicates USB 3 but its really just the connector that terminates at the 1824. Its really a USB 2 device which is a bummer. I think I'll eventually go with a Thundebolt on PC and buy a PCI Thunderbolt card and an apollo audio interface. But for now the 1824c is OK with Studio One 4.5 Pro

Sent the Quantum back because it doesn't work on new Macs with Thunderbolt 3. I then got the 192 and sent it back because it operates at USB 2.0 speeds even though it's 3.0. Now I am using the 1824 and it's awesome!

I just bought the quantum 2...on the strength of the good reviews, but the build quality is so poor, and the software not working well with LogicX, I arranged get to send it back to the store for a refund the same day

Does not make sense that the phanton power in the 1824 is not switchble per imput!! You have 8 mic pre and have to switch the phantom power to all, sucks

I'm looking at either buying the 1824 or the focusrite 18i20. This will be my first 8 mic pre purchase. I'm a drummer so I really need more than my 2 channel art. What's your thoughts or do you recommend a different one? Thanks

Are you using the Quantum on a PC or Mac? If on PC, what Thunderbolt card do you recommend? Can't find a "Compatible Cards" list on the Presonus website. My understanding is that the Quantum is crazy fast with near NO LATENCY. I want that...

I'm a happy Apollo user but have been considering the Quantum line. Def looking forward to hearing some more info on your channel! I'm also really hoping that Presonus does a 16 channel straight TRS I/O a la Motu 16a or Apollo 16. Would be nice to stack that with their Quantum via TB for a slick hybrid-studio setup that is not super $$$... Just throwin' this idea into the interwebs hoping it gains some traction lol

Hey audioczarnet. I did hear the 192 had latency issues with virtual instruments but is great if you aren't using them. I would have picked up quantum but don't have thunderbolt. I've heard the latency is very low on the quantum and the di for bass is very good. I ended up getting the RME UCX and so far am very happy with this decision. I;ll look in your videos but what are your thoughts on the Warm Pultec Style Eq you have in the rack? Cheers White Heat.

The Quantum also can be daisy chained with multiple units up to 96 inputs and outputs. The USB interfaces can only be expanded up to 26 or 18 simultaneous inputs.
