I'm still completely blown away at what the Pixel phones are doing with software. The iPhone's vastly superior hardware (every model of iPhone has better cameras, and more of them, vs any Pixel)... surprisingly just doesn't give them a better result in the end product (the photo).

for people that want to do good video on their smartphone: clearly the Pixel2, the stabilization is awesome. Front camera, which personally doesn't interest me in the least ( I am a selfie-hater): again, Pixel2. Rear camera , photos: iPhone 8 plus. Better detail also in the shadows; if you look at the man's face, more detail in his black beard (very important if you want to detect food rests LOL), less artefacts in general, and in general I favor a flatter color profile. Yet I like to do my own thing in post, and the majority of users just want crisp and contrasty photos with vivid colors right out of the box. For them, the Pixel2 is a no-brainer. Both very good in their own way, I hesitate as a photo man because the Pixel2 video is so tempting. Maybe an iPhone for my left and a Pixel for my right ear?

Decent comparison but I don’t agree with your technique. The pixel seems to do lots of software processing and ultimately looks fake. Great for Instagram but a bit useless for prints. I agree that the audio is better on the pixel. When it comes to stabilisation, again, the pixel looks a bit fake, very stable but have a look at all the moving artefacts.

Apple needs to improve their microphones they always sound like garbage in comparison to androids. Cameras are so good on almost any phone you buy now, I'll agree the pixel is slightly better but I'll still stick to my iPhone 8+. Great vid btw 👍
