One deserved Oscar for Screenplay. So happy to see James Ivory win. I'm sure he really understood the characters in the book and so beautifully translated. Bravo Mr. Ivory!

Disgusting film that glorifies sexual predation and perpetuates "son-and-daddy relationships" among the gay community. The movie feels like something a NAMbLA member would support and push. The age of consent is irrelevant - Armie Hammer looked old enough to be Elio's father. The boy is literally portrayed as a child who cuddles with his parents, shaves peach fuzz from his face, talks childlike and is in a relationship with someone portrayed very much as an adult man. Imagine if this was a man and a girl. Just because the child is pursuing the relationship does not make it OK. It's disturbing how much this film is lauded and shameful how it overshadowed films like God's Own Country, which actually deserved recognition, not this pedophilic propaganda

Not to honor James Ivory with an Oscar would have been the greatest injustice ever in film. The history of cinema can not be written without highlighting the rich artistic contributions of the Merchant Ivory legacy.

I remember watching this live... I was happy to see this win, but as a practical person my first thought upon seeing James Ivory stand up was that it was going to be difficult for him to get up those stairs to the stage. He's older and walks with a cane... it always amazes me how inaccessible these events are for those with disabilities.

They cut away as he makes it up to the stage, but when they cut back you can see that Margot Robbie had appeared to have helped him up the stairs while Chadwick stands with the award. I thought it odd at the time, that she was the one to help... but as we later learned, it makes sense as Boseman was dealing with his own illness at the time. I still wonder if Robbie was aware, and that is why she jumped in to help Ivory to the stage so that Boseman wouldn't have to.

This deserved also Best Picture more than Brokeback Mountain ever did. It's a highly intellectually driven masterpiece of emotion and drama about a young queer male in his teenage years which still comes across as unbelievably authentic and realistic. I can't describe in words how much I loved this movie. But I know for certain that every queer son wishes for a father like the one that Elio had.

I took the film to show to a friend. I soon became aware that he was as emotionally moved as I was. Timothee being tickled tickled by Oliver (yes he is ticklish) his giggles are wonderful. Their first kiss. The Peach scene "I don't want you to go". The Father's mesmerizing speech to his Son, The two of us dissolving into tears again at the fireplace scene. No matter how many times I run the dvd and try to brace myself emotionally for what is coming. I just have to surrender to it. Everyone who has watched it, must have been captivated by it. For those who have not seen this beautiful film, I urge you to lose yourself it 's timeless story, of love found and love lost.
