Can You Beat Metro 2033 With Only A Revolver?

Small correction: at the end of the video is says the playthrough took 4 hours 51 minutes. I forgot to change the time to reflect this playthrough. The real time was about 13.5 hours

The revolver is one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

The librarians can be killed with the Helsing (harpoon gun) in just a few (or a couple) shots. It's too bad this is a revolver only run.

You don't have to take out a group of the enemies at a time because they almost always split up after shooting the shit. One (or both) walks away, and then you can stab (or shoot) them both silently without either being the wiser. If a group doesn't split, it's very likely that you can just creep right past if you're in shadow (turn off the lights).

It's never required to take out multiple people at once during stealth; The only reason one would do such is impatience.

Those Nazis outside the station, you can just waltz right past them. That's what I did.

Haven't watched the video yet, but I am going to say, "Yes."
The funny thing is, had you played on survival mode, you may have been able to scrap other ammo and make more pistol ammo as you go.

I may need to recheck Metro 2033, but it bothers me abit you had a 2nd revolver but it didnt have a Long Barrel attachment... wich allows to hit targets at longer ranges with more ease and deals more dmg technicly. Thou taking on acount your forgot the battery, i think thats fine. Good video overall.

Ironicly if you had gone for like ranger mode, you might have had a real chance, as bullets do a lot more damage on high difficulties [or everything has a lot less health] so one shotting most creautures isn't out of the question on harder difficulties.

Revolver damage is really high in this gae though. Very tactical veapon because of reloadings.

You can kill librarians. Even the black ones. 2 sticky bombs or 2 molotovs and maybe a few shots. The black librarian is a little bit stronger, but still can be killed. In metro last light you'll find stronger enemies than librarians...

No way the compass was poiting at the objective. I finished 2033 and last light without knowing this... It was so frustrating

I like the stealth

Normal Difficulty is not the easiest difficulty. The increased damage you do more than makes up for how quickly you die.

I don't like the ammo limit. I'd rather they made a weight limit. You could sell unwanted grenades and weapons and carry a lot of ammo.

The revolver is actually a good sniper/gun

I need to go back and finish this game. I got all the way to the end-game compound, but forgot to stock up on air filters beforehand, so it was a ridiculously hard time sprinting between the few spare air filters scattered around the level and I just kind of gave up.

I know, video is 2 years old, but you don't need more than one headshot to kill your enemy.
The kicker here is that headshot must hit in the part that is free of any extras.
Same deal with throwing knives — they are always one-hit kill, as long as thing you hit is NOT a pouch, spare filter or add-on armor plate.

personally, after having beaten ranger hard-core metro redux, id say the revolver is hands down one of the best weapons in metro next to the hellsing and railgun you get in late game (mid if you save) Ammo is plentiful and the weapon is versatile. while you won't be winning any outright gunfights at the beginning, an upgrade or two mid to late game will see you doing a whole lot better. though it's as versatile as it is plentiful. it does ultimately come down to your resourcefulness in the end as does with any gun but I've always found plenty of ammo from generous post mortem donations from other inhabitants of the metro and trading

Very old video but I just wanted to say this, first encounter with enemies (watchmen) you could have just let your buddy (miller) attack and kill them by just running around them. The next encounter when you leave the first encounter you can just be killed and you immediately go into a cutscene

You can beat any metro game literally by sneaking through the whole thing not killing anyone or anything besides a few scenes where its required
