Mac Studio for UI Design in Figma / Sketch ?

Would love to know your views on the new M2 mac minis. Terrible decision making paralysis. Figma eats up a lot of GPU.

My Mac Pro 16 is lagging with Figma and boiling hot. Will get the studio for future proof

I definitely agree that you don’t need a mac studio/m1 ultra-max-etc for figma but one thing to keep in mind is that most designers like myself are doing much more than just figma. My 8-core i9 struggles with very large illustrator files with lots of vector textures same with animating those types of assets in 2d (adobe animate), also edit photos as a hobby. Even if the vast majority of my work isn’t that cpu intensive the problem I have is I need ram with the amount of files and windows I have open at at time. I know the unified ram is highly optimized but not confident that 16gb of ram could handle what I currently do with 32gb. With a maxed out mini + hub for extra i/o you are not far from a base model studio. So that is why a pro like myself would still be looking at a mac studio over mini/air.

How about if I constantly work in huge sketch files, like 1000+ artboards on a screen, is the mac studio still overkill?

Which monitor would you recommend besides those two to connect with Mac book air m1 16ram?

I puchased your "No Bull** Guide to UX" 3 months ago. When and how will I have access to that book....

This is my current dilemma. I don't know if I should go straight iMac, get a Studio Display and connect it with my work laptop or just purchase a new monitor. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts.

The event was great as always but the only thing that made me get upset is they didn’t show new MacBooks, about MacBook pros is understandable cuz the M1 pro max MacBooks pro are still recent but at least the MacBook Air. There’s some rumors that say the MacBook Air will keep the same M1 chip and have new design with different colors which would be released at the next apple event (could be June or July) or at the end of the year.

About the Mac studio when they explained and made comparisons at the event I got astonished which is a beast of Desktops but I think a 14” or 16” MacBook pros are good enough even the M1 MacBook Pro of 2020 alongside the M1 MacBook Air with 16GB Ram

A MacBook Air is more than enough.

I don't think you need a Mac Studio for UI Design except you designing AR/VR solutions and you're working with a 3D tool

I personally will be getting a studio display to go with my 14in MBP.

I use M1 air 16GB Ram with 2K monitor. Works like a charm! Also. Cant wait for your book to be out already!

Hey, I have been watching your video for quite some time now. I'm a beginner in UI/UX but struggling to create good looking interfaces. I keep pushing but somehow when I browse on Dribble or other platforms I get kinda demotivated. Do you have any advice on creating gold looking interfaces?
